✨Big announcement: I joined the @genderjusticela team as the new Director of Outreach !! ✨ Gender Justice LA (GJLA), is a grassroots social justice organization led by and for gender non-conforming, two spirit, Black, Indigenous, trans people of color in LA. Through community organizing and leadership development their mission is to make concrete changes in the lives of all transgender (trans) and gender non-conforming (gnc) people, especially low-income Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC). Invested in building our community’s collective power to fight for racial, gender and economic justice. I’m specially coming on to help strategize and support with COVID-19 resources and safety outreach for our Trans Gender Non Conforming community members. As someone who has lost loved ones to COVID I know how critical it is to ensure all our communities have access to up to date important information, services, and resources. We know infrastructures have never been there for our larger #Queer #Trans communities when it comes to health. Shanestar Productions, INC is gearing up for our newest film, to be shot in spring, 2016! ON THE FLOOR is a short film that takes place on the last day of a relationship gone bad with intimate partner violence.
On 25th January 2017 our team in the Lebanon Field Office visited the areas of ChebaaandHibariyeh in Southern Lebanon which are home to Palestinian refugees as well as recent arrivals from across the Syrian border.
With the Civil War raging in Syria less than 10 miles away, these areas are amongst the hardest hit by poverty, resource drain andovercrowding. We distributed fuel to enable those most vulnerable to be able to heat their houses and cook warm meals during the freezing Lebanese winter. With your help, we have already helped over 200 families in Lebanese refugee camps this winter.
No-one should ever have to choose between keeping their newborn baby safe and warm or feeding their family. With your help, we can help to alleviate fuel poverty and keep refugees safe and warm this winter.
