LIVE

At least he’s happy.

I like to think that the box is a changeable reality, like screens. So right now, Grumbot thinks he’s talking to Jrumbot. :T

This would be the last thing I draw with Grumbot/Jrumbot at least until anything happens.

Might take some recommendations but other then that, think of this as my goodbye to the two.

This is not cannon I just wanted to draw this.

Rest in peace Grumbot. A robot who not only helped but grew among his Dads. You will be missed.

Even though he was panicking. He made sure he told his Dads goodbye.

AfterGrumbot, comes Jrumbot!

Wanted to play around with my HC that Jrumbot’s arm length can adjust.

(Read this first)

When they were planing to move into season 8, they were excited. Very excited, just like every hermits, until they realize they couldn’t bring Grumbot and Jrumbot along.

And the fact they had to reset the server didn’t help, either.

They were devastated. But they settles into season 8, built a boatem, and they thought they could at least make peace with the fact that they would never see their children again,

Turned out, they couldn’t.

Living in the same server which their sons once were felt like stepping on their ashes. Sometimes Grian would strap his elytra tight on his back and fly until his shoulder cannot handle or his rockets run out, refusing to touch the ground. Sometimes Mumbo would stay in his AFK tower with his mind wanders to nowhere, everything about redstone far away from him. Sometimes Grian would start a mustache joke only to swallow them back half way, and Mumbo would stay away from any reflection for hours.

They tried to send messages to their children at the start of season 8, but of course there was no response. Because the server had been reseted. Their precious are gone forever.

-

“Mumbo, I want to try again.”

Mumbo sighs. He busies himself with the comparators, but Grian’s stare burns through his back with its intensity. He sighs again and put the comparators down.

“Grian. I would like to, you know how much I want to. But I- we talked about this. We need to move on. We can’t keep doing this.” He dusts off the redstone remnants on his hands, turning to look at Grian, who look at him with a pained expression.

“I know- I know, I know we talked about this,” Grian says, desperate, “but what if it actually worked? What if they actually got them all, but just couldn’t sent anything back?”

Mumbo holds the silence for a moment. He sighs once again.

“…Grian,”

Grian’s face fall, “-Don’t.”

Mumbo just feels tired. He sits down, leans on the chest full of redstone (the irony, he thinks), and he utters, “Just this once, Grian.”

Grian doesn’t cheer. He sits down quietly besides Mumbo and mutters a ‘thanks’. They stay like that for hours.

[playing the file…]

Silence.

Static noises.

Sounds of computer calculating.

“Dads! Hi, you are still in hibernation, but I don’t think you would meet me when you wake up, so I just want to say, I got all the messages from the monitoring. Also! Don’t worry about us! Brother and I were rescued by Renbob, we are in a safe place, and we are doing meaningful things. So go ahead and have a great time in season 9! We want you to be happy, that’s the reason why brother and I came to this world.”

Silence.

“Jrum, do you want to talk to dads?”

Sounds of computer calculating.

It will be fine. Just transfer your file over. What? Of course they miss you too, don’t be silly.”

Static noises.

Another voice comes in.

“Dads, We are very well-behaved, I promise! You can ask Renbob and Goat Man about it. We didn’t sleep with diamonds either, though sometimes brother-”

The voice is muffled.

“Grumbot, don’t cut off my file. I saw what you did! Dads, he is always tempted to do it, and I always stop him.” A pause. ”Don’t worry though, he is good, too, he just likes diamonds very much.”

Static noises.

The two voices says at the same time. “We love you, dads. See you.”

Static noises.

“My son, how are you doing? Your father and I are doing fine, and we hope that you are doing okay as well.”

Silence.

“Take care of your brother, okay? You know he is curious, and he is not as smart as you are. Make sure he’s safe, okay?”

Silence.

“We love you, son. Tell you brother we said that, too. Don’t forget how much we love you and your brother.”

Another voice comes in. “Mumbo, tell them don’t sleep with diamonds, they will get scratches from those.”

“Your father says no diamonds in the bed. You heard him, kids.”

The voice says in a strained voice: “We love you, okay? Don’t forget that. Be good, boys.”

Silence.

“It’s okay, Grian. They lived a happy life. That’s the best we could do.”

“I know, I just- I can’t. Sorry. Just, give me some time. I would be fine. In a little while.”

“It’s hard, I know…”

“I wish they know how much we miss them, I wish they can hear these recor- Mumbo, did you forget to turn the recording off?”

MY THOUGHTS ON THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK THING:

First, the countdown clock is fairly new, seeing as it has only appeared in Mumbo’s video that was released today and in Joe Hills livestream today. (I checked False, Scar, and Hypno’s videos and the countdown clock wasn’t in their videos at all). So, this machine was built recently.

Second, there was a lot of creepy and encrypted text surrounding the machine, these being:

• Give us your name

• H*****C****B****B****S****

• When the countdown ends, it begins

• Insert name, be a part of change

• You are invited to the change over

• *C*H*A*N*G*E* *I*S* *C*O*M*I*N*G*

From all these clues, we can tell that A) A group or someone who refers to themselves as a plural made this (hence the give US your name). B) An event called the ‘Change Over’ will begin when the countdown ends. And C), the beginning of the encrypted message means HermitCraft (idk about the B****B****S**** part though).

MY PREDICTIONS:

I have 3 predictions on what is happening here, and the first involves the Watchers from the EVO Smp. I believe that the Watchers are either after the Hermits as a whole, or are just after Grian.

Here’s why it works:

• The Watchers are multiple beings (again, the 'give US your name’ thing).

• The Watchers have been known to use creepy and encrypted text before.

• The countdown clock is right next to Grian’s barge, and the Watchers have had a history of going after Grian.

• Also the fact that Grian is technically a Watcher.

Why it doesn’t work:

• The countdown clock doesn’t fit the Watcher’s color scheme, and doesn’t include Bedrock or Obsidian like many of their builds typically do

• The Watchers aren’t technically canon in Hermitcraft (but that could change!).

My second prediction is that Grumbot is planning something (evil).

Here’s why it works:

• Grumbot has also been known to give weird messages.

• Again, the countdown clock is next to Grian’s barge and Grian was one of Grumbot’s dad’s.

• For the same reason as above, Mumbo was the first one to find the countdown clock.

• The color palette of the countdown clock doesn’t not fit with Grumbot.

Why it doesn’t work:

• Grumbot was stable last we saw.

• Grumbot hasn’t been known to show a lot of aggression.

My last prediction involves the button from the beginning of season 7. Either Grumbot or someone else is planning on bringing the button back, or something even more sinister.

Why it works:

• The color palette of the countdown clock almost completely matches the palette of the button (there is some variation).

• The countdown system is also eerily similar to the button’s.

• AGAIN, the countdown clock is next to Grian’s barge, and Grian was the hermit who collected all of the colors from the button first.

• The whole fire and brimstone thing around the countdown clock is reminiscent of the button exploding.

Why it doesn’t work:

• The button is dead (exploded, but I don’t know if that really matters).

• The button isn’t sentient (compared to the first two options)

Whatever may be happening with the countdown clock, I’m excited to see what happens next! Let me know your thoughts and theories, or if I mistakenly got a fact wrong. Thank you!
