I’ve been busy the last few months wrapping up my new film for the second Late Night Work Club, but I just discovered a box of animation from my last Late Night Work Club film The American Dream. When I was working on this film, I was trying to be really loose with how I was generating images and scenes and never did any proper storyboards. I thought this would allow for more intuition going from one shot to the next, and allow me to kind of pivot the narrative as the film was growing. This apparently extended to me doing all the layouts and keyframes in ballpoint pen before doing it in pencil, presumably to help keep me drawing loose and not refining anything too much. I thought these drawings were kind of cool, and don’t really remember making them.

LONG GONE GULCH comes to Youtube on Jan 11th 2021. 5 years in the making, this crowdfunded pilot is a passion project created by Tara Billinger and Zach Bellissimo, along with a small team of industry professionals and prolific freelancers. We’re so excited for you to see it!
