Excited to announce that the limited edition Lovestreams Keyboard Decals that were for sale at the Late Night Work Club Los Angeles screening are now available for purchase online!

This is a very cool stick decal that can be applied to keyboards, notebooks, or anything (each key is an individual sticker!). It was designed by Rachel Ho RuiZhen with drawings by me.  Designed for MacBooks, but works well on any keyboard (I have some on my Lenovo PC laptop)

All of the proceeds from this sale are being donated to the ACLU and Planned Parenthood.

I had an idea to try to do a cool animated camera move the other day and it’s turned into a total compositing nightmare.  I animated the 3D rotation of the door in the background with tweens in Flash, and thought it wouldn’t be that hard to match a texture to the perspective.  Turns out I totally suck at perspective and the whole thing looks really weird and sloppy.  We’ll see if it stays in the final cut. The final GIF isn’t an actual glitch, just a slipped layer that kind of encapsulates what a mess this shot has become.

I’m wrapping up this series of Smiley portraits I’ve been doing for friends.  Thanks to everyone who sent me a picture, this was a fun project!  I’ll be accepting requests until the end of the day today, so if you’d like a smiley portrait, send me a message or email with a link to a straight on picture of yourself :)

Late Night Work Club presents STRANGERS!

An all new animation anthology premiering online November 28th!

Featuring new work from Alex Grigg, Loup Blaster, Caleb Wood, Sean Buckelew, Jeanette Bonds, Nicolas Ménard, and Kirsten Lepore!

I couldn’t be more excited/intimidated/humbled to be showing a new film alongside such an amazing crew of animators!  

I’ve been busy the last few months wrapping up my new film for the second Late Night Work Club, but I just discovered a box of animation from my last Late Night Work Club film The American Dream.  When I was working on this film, I was trying to be really loose with how I was generating images and scenes and never did any proper storyboards.  I thought this would allow for more intuition going from one shot to the next, and allow me to kind of pivot the narrative as the film was growing.  This apparently extended to me doing all the layouts and keyframes in ballpoint pen before doing it in pencil, presumably to help keep me drawing loose and not refining anything too much.  I thought these drawings were kind of cool, and don’t really remember making them.
