This is one of the first illustrations of the book and the first illustration i ever worked on for this book. It is one of my treasures, even if it isn’t that special, but i really like the openness of the scene and how our star of the book is the small guy right there in the middle =)

it was only a matter of time before someone did this
just me thinking about how Hopper wouldn’t give up Joyce for however long he was tortured because he knew what it cost when he betrayed El, and how Joyce has literally jumped without a second thought to go help him (after he jumped somewhere first, in the hopes of helping her), and how they both keep ending up in these dark places of ash and snow and death and destruction, but together is where they were always meant to be
