Taxidermy is much more than simply ‘stuffing’. At 9200 frozen feet Zapata Falls is worth the moderately rugged but short hike. Snowmelt from the mountains creates the waterfall. I’m not sure if crawling on the ice to reach it was more or less difficult than (alternatively) having to wade through a torrid stream…but that’s what I did…I crawled on a lot of ice.

This behemoth of an ice club had been growing on the back patio for a few days. We named it Ivan, and it became a part of the family. Unfortunately, Ivan started to melt yesterday, so we gave it a proper sendoff and took some photos to remember it by. :)
