The world has changed rapidly. All measures possible are taken to reduce the pressure on healthcare and to slow the spreading of the virus down until we have found good medication and eventually a vaccin.
The Netherlands is no exception, we are one of the worse hit countries. My husband, who works in mental healthcare research, works from home now. As the daycare is closed, our little son who turned 2 past week is full time at home now too. All public places are closed, so it is basically the three of us in our apartment with a good walk every now and then. He is doing great and we are all healthy and I feel very thankful for that.
However, inevitably I have considerably less time to work. I can barely get to the amount time to make new pieces and keep up with social media and messages.
Added to this my little business is very internationally oriented. 95% of all pieces ship to all over the world, about 2/3 to the US. All shipping restrictions of different contries are rapidly changing, sometimes by the day.
As good customer service and guaranteed delivery are some of my highest priotities I have decided to put my shops on vacation mode for the time being. I simply can’t promise something today as I do not know what new rules tomorrow will bring.
I will give priority to my family, to stay safe & healthy. But I won’t lay down my work and won’t dissapear! I will keep on making & designing new pieces and I stay in touch through social media, blogs and so on :)

I have a real bad habit of falling for people who aren’t good for me. I enthusiastically put energy into people I care about, but I haven’t been very good at discerning who is worthy of my heart. So, I often find myself hurt and confused… struggling to remember that I’m worthy of love.
But, I keep trying. I’m never going to find my person unless I’m willing to continue to open my heart to the possibilities - and the risk.
I’ve talked a bit about the new man I’m seeing, but I’ve been intentionally vague and brief. I’ve given him a lot of power to hurt me, and I’m scared. But that’s vulnerability, isn’t it?
If I find myself heartbroken, I don’t want to have to admit to the world that I fucked up again. But, I’ve always been brutally honest about my love life on this blog. I’ve written about the amazing ups, the insane downs, the ghostings, the excitement, and the sex. So much sex. Through it all, I’m grateful that I had this space for reflection.
So, here’s the latest update from my heart.
I met the new man via tumblr. (I don’t listen to my own advice.) We are finally meeting, in person, this weekend. My anxiety is off the charts. I am terrified. Please be patient with me as we move through the week. I will be moody, stressed, and a mess.
Hey, I’ve seen a lot of ‘YOU HAVE TO DRAW SCAR WITH A WHEELCHAIR AND A NASALCORD AND IF YOU DONT YOURE A TERRIBLE PERSON’ and that’s just not true, I’m disabled, I use a cane and sometimes a wheelchair so I can talk about this;
Scar has said that he doesn’t care if he’s drawn with or without, therefore don’t guilt people in doing one or the other.
I encourage people drawing him like he looks in real life, but you aren’t automatically ableist if you don’t
Of course, I do want you to think about why you don’t want to draw him like that, because ableism can be sneaky and sometimes well intentioned people have internalised ableism that affects their opinions
Anyway, be nice to eachother and assume that everyone is good intentioned
Alright you guys, ‘tis the season again and I’ve already seen bullshit float about so here we go: what to do and what not to do when you happen to have a tick attached to yours truly.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
DON’T cover the tick in anything. Vaseline, nailpolish, whatever. Doesn’t matter. It’ll all suffocate the tick, making it panic vomit germs into your blood stream. That’s the opposite of what you want.
DON’T burn the tick. Same problem, plus the additional option of giving yourself a burn wound in the process.
DON’T squeeze the body of the tick when you try to remove it. Again this empties the tick’s digestive system into your body. Bad.
DON’T wait for the tick to detach itself. The longer it stays on you, the higher the chances it’ll transmit anything to you. Plus when ti detaches it may again vomit germs into you.
WHAT TO ACTUALLY DO
STAY CALM. A tick hanging on you is not a reason to panick. You’re not going to keel over just like that, and if you’re unsure what to do, there are many resources on the internet on how to safely remove a tick, like this one from the CDC (aka the professionals)
USE APPROPRIATE TOOLS. These can be suitable tweezers (the pointy kind, not blunt tipped ones), tick removers (there are cheap ones out there, those you can buy at the vets are totally fine for use on humans, too!). Ideally you can remove the entire tick in one go, however if that doesn’t work and the mouth part breaks off in your skin, that’s not a terribly big deal and you can totally remove it separately after you got the body remove. Again, don’t panic.
KILL THE REMOVED TICK. But not by squeezing it. Flush it down the toilet, submerse it in alcohol in a container etc. Ideally if the tick has bitten you and not your dog, keep the tick around in a sealed container in case you start having symptoms and someone needs to identify the tick species. Also IF you start getting symptoms like the tell tale Lyme disease rash, HIT A DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY AND TELL THEM ABOUT YOUR TICK BITE. Do not wait this out, ticks can transmit a whole host of diseases beside Lyme, so be mindful of that, too!
Some of those diseases you can actually get vaccinated again, such as tick born encephalitis. Check with the local authorities if you live in a risk area, and if so, get the shots to protect yourself.
Excellent post! I would like to add that ticks hide in tall grass and bushes mostly. They do not drop down from trees or jump to other people’s heads etc. Ticks aren’t designed to jump, they latch on somewhere on your leg and then crawl upwards in most cases.

Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back

Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

So, fun fact- the manga Noragami has an arc where the main character, Yato (a minor kami/God that is down on his luck but trying to make it big time) goes to a council/conference for all the Gods in Japan.

like you do realise that the entire point of set up and pay off is that you’re supposed to pick up on the clues the writers give you right? you do understand that plot twists only work when they retroactively make sense bc there were hints building up to the reveal right??
i think social media not only has eroded ideas of privacy (”if you have nothing to hide why do you care?”), but in a much more harmful way it promotes the notion that there should be no difference between public thoughts and private behaviour. But this is totally bogus because people behave differently according to different situations, and this isn’t being “fake”, it’s just what navigating social situations in a proficient manner is like.
The way I behave with my friends and my family, the way I behave in private, is not for public consumption. Nor should it be. Publicness is a matter of choice, it shouldn’t be mandatory. People are not entitled to anyone’s private thoughts on anything. People have a right to decide what they wish to show in public and what they wish to hide.
