Zhao Shao'ang was a Chinese artist and exemplar of the landscape, and bird-and-flower painting traditions, as well as a noted painter of cicada. His style is that of the Lingnan School, which formed the basis for the modernisation of 20th century Chinese art.

A friend & former student of mine (possibly my first student ever) who has consistently inspired me with both her creative work & her activism! Noél posted aniconic selfie the other day & I was totally compelled to make something based on it - I haven’t done a finished portrait in ages but I loved working on this. The border features tropical flowers & draped fabric inspired by Noél’s own textile sculptures/installations, which you can see here.

Also, here’s my terrible degree-of-separation-from-Our-Flag-Means-Death story: Mister Izzy Hands here is played by my fellow Cucumber alum, the illustrious Con O’Neill (inasmuch as he was an actual character in the show and I was in one scene for like half a minute and had no lines, but STILL)

Made this painting last year for an upcoming zine of Finnish Yokai by Sanmagumo. Vellamo is the goddess of lakes and seas who fishermen used to pray for good fishing luck

Been seeing all the love Elden ring has been getting lately so thought I’d share this picture I did a few years ago of the Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls 3. Was thinking of picking up a copy of Elden Ring, is it worth getting?
