Inktober day #30 - Hurous The Hunter.
The shadowed wraith that rides the howling storms of autumn was once a man, as hard as it may be to believe now. A proud man of the old blood of valindor, who’s ancestors lay in cold barrows across the the land, who still cursed the coming of the southmen and their god king.
A man cursed by the black queen to serve her in undeath for eternity as he hunts the Great stag, king of the forest.

When the Black Queen of Valindor elevated the Man who would become the hunter to his new station, she saw fit to grant upon him a mount so that he may ride forth and carry out her great works. Mjarnjarl was that steed, the living blight, the nightmare of the endless forest, the black stag. Child of the old god Atro’esh and Göetfrie king of the giants, Mjarnjarl is a mad and feral being, bound to the hunter’s will by the grace of his queen alone.

Servants of Hurous, the huntsmen are comprised of those souls unlucky enough to have fallen foul of the wild hunt as it’s roams Valindors storm swept expanse during the long autumn and winter. Foul mockeries of the wicker men burnt over the autumn solstice to ward away the dead, the huntsmen lurch ahead of the hunt, their grisly lanterns illuminating the way

When Aelmir drove Aeglynn, spear of heavens, through the heart of The Black Queen her blood defiled the great forest and rot bloomed from every speck of foul ichor.
To purify the great and ancient forest he planted one of the thirteen acorns of the World Tree in the deep, forlorn heart of the forest, at the very place of her death. There it grew and grew, like all the acorns the God King planted around Erinoth, and towered upwards like a pillar of the heavens themselves.
But Erinoth wains, and the great trees turn black…

Day 21- The lands of Erinoth are, of course, littered with graves and mausoleums. From the ancient barrows of the first empire to the urn gardens and crypts of the south, the dead are everywhere. And now they are rising. The tormented souls unfortunate enough to rise as ghasts are horrifying pitiful creatures, wailing silently in tormented madness as they lash out at all those around them.
