Got a bit too close to the good stuff last time, so this week, we’re back to Joseph trying to do his miserable job while Hoyt acts like his nasty little shitcoil self.

Does anyone know if Joseph’s birth year being 1976 like it says on far cry wiki is rooted in canon, or is it just a guess? I’m trying to sus out when his wife and child could’ve each been born, how old they might’ve been in 2018 if they’d lived, etc.
It’s… kind of canon? I suppose the Wiki says 1976 because of this:
I found the picture on play-asia.com and I have no idea if it’s official or not. But the website also says John was born in 1986, which is mathematically impossible, so I’m not sure about Joseph’s year of birth being 1976. It works, though!
On the subject of John, his money, and how Eden’s Gate wouldn’t have developed and extended their influence as much as they did without him, some people have voiced their concerns because they think it’s unfair that he had to invest a lot of his personal savings in the cult, and even that Joseph possibly exploited him. While it’s true that, without John’s money and legal expertise, they wouldn’t have been able to so easily and legally acquire land, businesses, and equipment, there is no evidence that it wasn’t John’s choice to spend money for the Project or that he was manipulated into doing so. As eager to please his brother and emotionally immature as he can be, John is still an adult, a “seasoned businessman”. As such, he can make his own decisions, and it’s not like the money he invested in the cult didn’t benefit him too. Also, to Joseph, more than a valuable asset, John is first and foremost family; his little brother. Secondly, if we believe what The Book of Joseph tells us, John “inherited a small fortune” after the death of the Duncans, his adoptive and also very abusive parents. So what if all or most of the money he invested in the Project wasn’t actually his, in the sense that it’s not the money he earned from working as a lawyer, but theirs? I like to imagine that it was.
I mean, using your torturers’ money to help your family, the one you chose, want to be with, that truly loves you and accepts you as you are? What a beautiful revenge.
All seven Deadly Sins (SLOTH,LUST,GLUTTONY,ENVY,PRIDE,GREED,WRATH) are carved on his body, as well as (Revelation) (right upper arm).
I’m intrigued by the birds, because I’ve seen them described as doves, but they look like classic swallow tattoos. They are holding twigs (olive branches) like the dove on the ark, but they’re a bit colourful. They look like tattoos Joseph got before the Project, and I wonder why.
And I think I’ve seen the arrows before, but they hit a little differently now with the symbolism. “…he who sat on it had a bow…and he went out conquering and to conquer”
They definitely look like swallows to me too, and so does the bird tattooed above the chair on John’s left arm (although that one looks weird and gloomier). I’m not sure what they’re supposed to mean, though, since swallows can symbolize many different things…
And I knew that the crown, also visible on Joseph’s vest (and his jacket, even though he never actually wears it in Far Cry 5) represented Conquest, the first horseman of the apocalypse, but I hadn’t realized the arrows most likely were a reference to this too!
