Potent minimalist art sends a strong message about police and vigilante brutality in America

Journalist and artist Shirin Barghi has created a gripping, thought-provoking series of graphics that not only examines racial prejudice in today’s America, but also captures the sense of humanity that often gets lost in news coverage. Titled “Last Words,” the graphics illustrate the last recorded words by Brown and other young black people — Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant and others — who have been killed by police in recent years.

Let us not forget their voices

I was blown away by the Justice For Trayvon rally today in Northampton. Despite being called at last moment the turnout was huge. It was not only more than I expected but more than I had hoped for. I am incredibly proud of all the people who turned out and made some noise. I am honored that I was able to stand with such beautiful fighting spirited people and protest the horrible racist injustice committed all over this country which is supposedly the land of the free. This is not just about Trayvon Martin. This is about the endless number of people of color brutalized and killed everyday all over this country. This is about a criminal justice system that excuses murders done by police as long as the one murdered was a person of color. From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin it is the same shit and just a different decade. I want to thank all the people who came out this evening to show support and all those who got up and spoke. Solidarity! This is far from over!

Hellooooo hippies!!! We are still protesting against this racist system in America! How are we all equal when the black community is treated like shit? Contact your local government officials and make them hear us!!!

The most hippie ✊ thing to be is a revolutionary. They’ve watered hippie down to druggies, people who won’t shower, and college drop outs. Oh but they were wrong. And they forget that we are the MOVEMENT. Justice for Floyd!! Stop letting police officers murder American people. They are committing treason. And our “elected” officials don’t bat an eye. LETS CHANGE AMERICA FOR THE BETTER
