“to ignore a text”
you may wanna use that verb when someone ignores your texts. “씹새끼” is a slang refering to people who ignore others people texts ; its rude so use that only when joking with your friends!

“get along well”
you would use that when meeting someone for the first time and wish you can become friends/more friendly
•친추하다
“to add someone in your friend list”;“to become friends with someone (online)”

words/phrases you may come across in dramas or webtoons that are relationship-related (both romantic and platonic) that you may not be familiar with; mostly slang
썸 | someone you’re “talking to” but not actually dating
모태솔로 | also seen as 모쏠, it’s someone who has never dated anyone; forever alone
그린라이트 | green light; a sign someone is into you
케미 | chemistry
짝사랑 | a crush
금사빠 | someone who falls in love easily
금자감| someone who is overly confident for no reason
얼빠 | someone who easily falls for/only dates people with good looks
된장[남/녀] | someone who lives way above their means in order to impress people/keep up with the Joneses
음란마귀| someone with a dirty mind (makes dirty jokes)
변태 | a pervert
인싸| social butterfly; someone who gets along well with everyone, very extroverted, improves the mood of everyone around them (insider)
아싸 | the opposite of 인싸; wallflower, couch potato, keeps to themselves, super quiet, has more of a negative meaning, someone who brings down the mood (outsider)
바람둥이/선수 | a player (선수 also literally means athlete, but it’s used as a player who dates around as well)
사기꾼 | a cheater/scammer/fraud
훈[남/녀] | someone who is good looking with a kind personality
뇌섹[남/녀] | smart and sexy (more commonly guy with the 남, but you could say girl 녀)
공주병/왕자병 | princess/prince disease; someone who needs a lot of attention/acts like a princess/prince; spoiled brat (see: Regina George or every rich kid antagonist(or tbh rich male lead) in every drama ever)
알콩달콩 | super cute and sweet/lovey dovey
권태기 | ennui/the seven year itch; when a relationship becomes boring or drifts apart
삼각관계 | love triangle
노답 | (someone) who doesn’t respond/when there’s no real answer for a problem
반사 | the equivalent to “right back at you” or “I know you are but what am I;” usually used when someone insults you.
밀당(하다) | short for “push and pull,” kind of like playing hard to get sort of?
문자 씹다 | to ignore someone’s text; ghost. You can also sometimes hear 씹다 by itself to mean the same thing.
바람 피다 | to cheat
learn korean : the lazy way
you may have already been in that situation where you’re trying to communicate with a native korean via texts but somehow aren’t able to distinguish some words because they’re written a certain way. well as well as in english or any other languages korean also has its lazy way of using it. we’ll see some words in their correct form and then in their “lazy/text” form.
이렇게 (like this) : 이러케
그렇게 (like that) : 그러케
어떻게 (how) : 어떠케, 어케
왜 이/그렇게 (why are u so…) : 왤케
그렇구나 (i see) : 그러구나

1. 사귀어요[Sagwieoyo]
: We are going out
‘사귀어요’ came from the verb ‘사귀다’. This verb actually means ‘to get close with someone’ and is basically used as ‘친구를 사귀다’ which means ‘to have(get) a friend’. However, not only this main meaning, it is very widely used as ‘to have a relationship with someone’. ‘사귀어요’ means that you and your partner is officially in a relationship, not just a simple dating.
Both meanings are important so keep them in your mind!
(우리) 사귀어요 = We are going out
A은/는 B(이)랑 사귀어요 = A is going out with B
2. 헤어졌어요[He-eojyeoyo]
: We broke up
‘헤어졌어요’ is the most common way to say that your relationship is finished. It came from the verb ‘헤어지다’. This verb is often used in all kind of breaking up situation.
A(이)랑 헤어져 = Break up with A
(우리) 헤어지자 = Let’s break up
(우리) 헤어졌어요 = We broke up
(저는) B와 헤어졌어요 = I broke up with B
3. 썸 타는 사이에요[Sseom Taneun Saieyo]
: We have something going on between us / We are dating
A very popular neologism in Korea, “썸[some]” is a grey area in the beginning of a relationship. Two people are seeing each other but it never means they are together or couple. It’s the mellow and confusing moment between two people.

= (우리) 썸이에요.
= (우리) 썸 타는 중이에요.
= (우리) 썸 타는 사이에요.
= (우리) 썸 타고 있어요.
Learning some Korean slang is a great way to boost your Korean skills. Not only does it help with your listening abilities, but it makes you sound more like a Korean local.
Friends will become closer, jokes will be easier to understand, and you’ll be able to follow Korean movies and songs better. Not bad for only learning a few phrases and words.
1.대박 Dae-bak
Most often used to express the idea of gaining a big fortune. An English equivalent may be “jack-pot” because this phrase is sometimes used in association with gambling. When someone opens a business, people will wish them “Dae-bak” by saying “대박나세요!” [dae bak na se yo!] It can be used to express both positive and negative emotional extreme.
2.행쇼 Haeng-syo
This phrase, popularized by Korea’s music/fashion/trend icon G-dragon, is a shorten word for 행복하십쇼 [haeng bok ha sip syo] which means “Be happy” in honorifics. It’s used to say goodbye – English equivalent would be “Peace”- or literally “Be happy”.
3.멘붕 Men-bung
It’s a shorten form of 멘탈붕괴 [men tal bung goe], which is a combination of the English word “mental” and the word 붕괴,which means to deconstruct. Mental here refers to the mental state of the person, and hence, Men Bung means to experience mental shock aka. OTL. It was first used amongst the Korean Starcraft players in 2011.
4.뭥미 Mwong-mi
Means “What the..”? It originates from the word 뭐임[mwo im], which means “What is it?” When you type 뭐임 quickly using the Korean keyboard, you often end up with 뭥미, which is how this word came about.
5.짱 Jjang
This is a common one that can be heard often! It’s slang word that means ‘the best’ or 'top of top’ or just plain 'awesome’!
6.심쿵 Sim-Kung
This phrase is made up of two words that refer to the heart. Translated, it roughly means “heartthrob” and you can use it to refer to a huge crush.
7.금사빠 Geum-sa-bba
An abbreviated phrase that translates to “loves is the moment.” Use this to describe your friends that always falls in love the moment they see someone.
8.헐 Her
This exclamation is usually used after something shocking or surprising is said or seen. It’s really similar to “OMG” in English! You can also combine 헐 and 대박 as 헐대박 to express definitely awesome.
9.썸 Ssom
A noun used to describe that special “something” between two people who are not in relationship but have feelings for one another. There is “something” (썸) between them. Btw, I want to recommend the song 'some’ to you guys.
10.당근 Dang-gun
This word, which literally means “carrot,” is used to mean “of course” because it sounds similar to the word for “당연하지?” You can say “당근이지?”
