hey I just want season 4 to end because it’s a mess and both marinette and adrien deserve happiness and therapy.
so, here’s my proposal:
finish the show so we can do a fan-led and funded (because there’s like a ton of people in the fandom) remake with help from the great fanfic authors! let’s do a fix-it show where the characters are written consistently and with care and development, actual lore, and stuff!

If you want to assume that Ladybug’s “mistake” in “Penalteam” is entirely in-character, then the only conclusion I can draw is that this is the fault of “Kuro Neko.”
Ladybug after she admits that she’s been playing solo basically acts just like Ladybug in “Mega Leech” where she gets her team together, so clearly it would be out-of-character for her to do the opposite in “Penalteam” unless there was a reason.
But then you remember that, in “Kuro Neko,” Plagg yelled at Ladybug for daring to rely on other heroes and her whole “lesson” was about how “””valuable””” Chat is. “Penalteam” is right after it and Ladybug tries to support Chat so much that she planned on doing things with just the two of them before Chat admits that he can’t play soccer/football.
Even after the fact, Ladybug doesn’t immediately rely on the other heroes and tries to do things on her own, meaning that she’s going off of “Kuro Neko” by not relying on the other heroes so Chat doesn’t feel excluded or bad (especially since he doesn’t know how to play). It’s only when that starts to fail that she “learns her lesson” and starts relying on everyone more.
Essentially, either the “mistake” in “Penalteam” was just completely fabricated so they could blame her for something, or they had her get yelled for relying on other heroes so she could try to amend that and thus they could blame her for not relying on them.
The writers twisted the events where MariBug is guilted into catering AdriChat.
So MariBug does in the next mission, only for AdriChat to be useless in that particular situation.
So MariBug cannot rely on others because it’s “cheating” on AdriChat. But AdriChat is unreliable.
Therefore, she tries to do things on her own.
But this burned her in Strikeback and she learns through AdriChat to rely on everyone again.
What is it with grown men and their need to punish their female main characters unfairly in their stories?
Shit like that is exactly why I made a playlist called “Pissed at Patriarchy.”
Edit: No really, the catalyst for me making the playlist was reading about Astruc saying Chat Blanc and Ephemeral were Marinette’s fault

This post contains the infos about all the series released up until now, including season 4 finale. The concept remains the same overall, being further deepened and strengthened by the new content. They only added more reasons to why the topic is messed up a lot.
PREMISE
First of all, I apologize for the length of this post and I clap to anyone who will be willing to read it and consider what I wrote with open mind, without jumping to the conclusion this is made just to express hate.
I have this analysis I wanted to share about the Ladybug/Marinette discourse that went all over the fandom because of the new Kuro Neko trailer, and that then I kept continuing after it aired…
I wanted to write this post some time ago, but I waited to see how season 4 would progress overall.
I’m aware that season 5 is still to be released and surely my opinion will grow and shift depending on what will happen, but we have enough material to talk about the situation NOW as this sub-plot was made to shape season 4 and part of season 3. Enough material is present to judge what was done in the progressing of the sub-plot in its dedicated seasons.
I wanted to express what currently I think are the problems with the protagonist’s treatment towards Chat Noir.
As much as on one hand I understand the frustration of Ladybug’s fans, and how some takes and aggressive attitudes by some people are way exaggerated and I absolutely do not condone (Seriously lamenting to the author won’t fix the problem at this point and there is a line between expressing opinions in the right places with good manners and herassement), I can’t also blame who is genuinely but moderately expressing exasperation over the situation.
I am a very HUGE fan of angst, miscommunication tropes, etc… but if those are portrayed and written well. Without forcing characters to just become mean, or act unnaturally incoherent.
As I often say, I am not really into the fandom anymore. I watch the show, criticize it, draw for some headcanons and AUS I have, I read fanfictions and look at fanart, but I don’t engage in the fandom discussions and I’m not super invested in it (aside Marichat). I try to take everything that comes with a grain of salt and be neutral, but in this situation it’s really difficult to not lean on the current opinion that Marinette is acting wrongly.
After years of defending this show, I eventually gave up on the eventuality that its writing is very flawed and not in a light and okay-ish way. This doesn’t mean no one can like it or feel addicted to it, speaking for myself, I still try to always face episodes keeping a neutral critical eye.
But there are some lines I think should be drawn and one is how much we can really excuse Marinette/Ladybug’s behavior, as her character in the show in writing and enjoyment but also for ethical reasons regarding the viewers.
What she is doing in the series to Chat, is entirely wrong. There’s no going around it, she is the one making the biggest mistakes and acting in a bad way and her actions shouldn’t be justified so easily.
Basic respect for someone in our life is fundamental, mostly who we care about and is supposed to be a closed one. Without respect we go nowhere and what Ladybug expressed towards Chat has serious lacks of it.
I will go through this picking on the main “mistakes” she has made, from the very second season when all of this started (Yes, it’s not an issue born in season 4, it just exploded in such.) and expand on what’s wrong, plus proposing solutions that could have been taken.
Added the part about the season’s finale (Risk and Strike Back) and why it makes the problem bigger.

I know season 5 may will treat some of the points here addressed, but the problem on the execution and progression remains, so it doesn’t really change much of my analysis.

Also NEW THEORy; remember when Gabriel said “the wounds of the miraculous are becoming your wounds”? What if the reason she needs such an extensive brace and was previously bedridden is because her body is literally crumbling??? This piece invokes that. As someone who deals with joint pain on the daily, WHAT a badass.
