Everyones mad at escapism. It could’ve been muchworse

It could’ve been 11 minutes of Ronaldo delaying everything for 11 minutes

Have fun with that thought.

Copying tags in accessible ways on mobile

People screenshot tags all the time, whether to share a funny joke or add important commentary, but they often don’t realize that this is inaccessible to vision-impaired people and many others. This is a problem because a lot of people primarily use Tumblr on the mobile app, which doesn’t let you interact with tags at all unless you screenshot them. However, accessibility is always worth the extra time and effort you can spare, so here are some ways for you to easily copy tags without spending too much of either!

Image-to-text softwares

If you simply must screenshot those tags, you can still convert them back into usable text! There are plenty of easy-to-use websites that allow you to take any downloaded image and extract the text from them. I prefer onlineocr.net, but the Google Translate app has the same feature! All you need to do is input the text and hit the button, and it’ll spit out the text for you to copy. This method is sort of overkill for images with not a lot of text, but it’s easy to do and generally accurate, and I use it all the time to great effect!

Going to browser

If you’re on mobile, it’s probably a safe bet to say that your phone also has a browser app. If so, all you need to do to copy the tags from a post is copy the link of said post into a browser and then copy the tags from there. This method can mean extra formatting, since hashtags and links won’t copy over, but it’s relatively low-effort to do and doesn’t take long at all!

Going on PC

If you’re on mobile, you can also consider saving the post with desired tags to your drafts. This means you can easily access it on another device, aka a computer, and copy the tags there! Copying tags on desktop is possibly the easiest way to do it, since all you need to do is highlight the text and paste it later- it’ll even save the link formatting when you do! The only extra step you might have to do is add spaces between the tags, since they’ll automatically come smushed together and only separated by hashtags. This method might mean you take a little longer to reblog the tags, but it is very much worth it to make the post accessible to all!

Going forth

These methods are a smidgen more effort than just screenshotting or prev tagging, but I don’t think it’s a bad tradeoff at all! I hope this can provide quick and easy ways for everyone to get more used to thinking more conscientiously about accessibility. And these aren’t your only options- alt text helps people who use screenreaders, and you should always add an image description below screenshots if you’re going to add them. Hope this helps!

TL;DR: Instead of screenshotting tags, which makes them inaccessible, other options are: using image-to-text software, copying the tags on a mobile browser, or copying them on desktop Tumblr.

Website:POSITIVEOPTIONS.ORG

The site is incrediblymisleading, the tagline literally stating “For your health, choice and future.” The front page has three links labeled “Pregnancy,” “Adoption” and “Abortion.” “Abortion” is not clickable but the other two are. There are three ‘happy client stories’ and only one has talked about deciding to parent, the other two are extremely open-ended and leave a lot up to the person reading the ‘story’ and one even makes it sound like they’re opting for an abortion but ‘haven’t decided yet.’ There is no indication they do not preform abortions aside from a small ‘disclaimer’ stating a list of services they do not provide. The list reads as follows:

~All of Positive Options’ services are free of charge;
~Medical services are overseen by licensed medical professionals, some of whom are volunteers;
~Our pregnancy test is 99% accurate 3 to 5 days before a missed period (positive or negative);
~Positive Options recommends clients consult a licensed physician to confirm the results of a pregnancy test or ultrasound;
~Any counsel received at Positive Options is not intended as a substitute for professional counseling;
~The use of electronic recording devices will not be permitted in order to protect client privacy and the privacy of Positive Options staff;
~Any attempt to obtain services or resources under false pretenses will result in the discontinuation of services; and,

Some items have been bolded because they deserve extra attention and cause suspicion.

This site has an entire page dedicated to abortion and the different types with no indicators that this ‘clinic’ does not offer them. Oh, excuse me, yes they do have a smalldisclaimer at the bottom of the ‘services’ page:

image

I have gone through the entire site at least four times and only justnoticed this. I couldn’t imagine what a scared, nervous, anxious, or upset pregnant person could miss or interpret.

The ‘medical team’ includes two Nurses (Linda Dykstra RN, Nurse Sonographer and Val Kuipers RN, Nurse Sonographer) and a Nurse Practitioner (Mary Teerman LPN, Nurse Sonographer) and a Doctor Jim Gerard, MD the Medical Director, and a local practicing OB/GYN in West Michigan. Three nurses and one doctor for four locations? My general practitioner has two LPN’s and about six nurses and she’s in a small family practice!

Also this cute line:

“We are dedicated to providing our communities with a wide range of free and confidential services to all.”

Yeah, you mean pee tests and free ultrasounds. That’s a ‘wide range’ of services.

So if you live in or near Allendale, Allegan, Grand Haven, and Holland be aware of Positive Options. If you do drop by, say hi to aubscares for me. :)

shitantichoiceprotesterssay:

As an escort, these are things I WISH we had time to tell clients as they walk to the clinic.

  • Protesters don’t have any concept of personal space or the word “NO”.  However, that doesn’t mean it is pointless to say it.  The protesters need to hear “GO AWAY” and “LEAVE ME ALONE, STOP FOLLOWING ME” repeatedly and LOUDLY (I’ll talk about why this is important later).  As clinic escorts, we don’t have the ability to block or run into protesters, that would be assault.  Protesters will try to make you stop walking, slow you down, get in your way.  ANYTHING to impede your progress.  My advice is to KEEP WALKING at YOUR OWN PACE. YOU set the pace.
  • Don’t hesitate to film protesters.  Film yourself saying go away, leave me alone, stop following me.  Film the protesters stepping in front of you and trying to slow you down.  If a protester touches you, film that too.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask an escort (if available) questions.  You can grab my arm or get behind me and hold onto my shoulders.  It is WHATEVER you want to do.
  • YOU DON’T HAVE TO WALK WITH A CLINIC ESCORT.  We are there ONLY IF YOU WANT US! :)  Your consent and wishes are what we want to strive for.  If an escort approaches you (typically we will have an orange or pink vest that says CLINIC ESCORT on it), we will ask “Would you like us to walk with you?“  You DO NOT have to say yes.  Unlike the protesters, if you say “No Thanks!” we will let you be ;)
  • If you feel harassed or violated once you get inside the clinic, you have EVERY RIGHT to file a non-emergency report.  I would start with your local police department.  Also call the FBI and the Department of Justice.  The fact that a report of harassment is on record is what is important.  The more reports of harassment the police have on file from clients, the more likely police will come out and watch and reprimand protesters. If you would like to report a specific protesters, just ask an escort.  We typically know their names, just as they know ours.
  • Protesters can make you feel powerless and angry.  This is a way to take your power back and report harassment.

If you have any questions, I would call your local clinic.  Also you can ask me!

Fuck it ask us shit about us as a system just don’t expect us to share extremely personal private info

walks-the-ages:

So here’s a thing:

The ML writers are not “failing” when they write Adrien the way they do.

They are in fact, succeeding when they write Adrien the way they do.

In order for the ML writers to “fail” at writing Adrien, that would imply that Adrien’s character concept is sending a message they don’t agree with–

When in fact, Adrien is sending the exact message they want him to; 90% of their audience has fallen for their message hook, line, and sinker. If you can see Adrien’s actions as being horrifying, you are an outlier, and the writers do not want you to count.

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers don’t want us to look at Adrien’s actions and see them as horrifying–

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers want us to listen to the music cues and see his puppy-dog eyes and sad flattened ears and they want us to 110% support Adrien’s behavior, we’re supposed to see Marienette’s horrified expressions and protests and agree with Adrien– that Marinette is “just playing hard to get”, that if she just gave in and “gave him a chance” she would “admit her true feelings for him”.

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers are 45 year old white men who’ve already admitted that they’re fucking creeps that make a self-insert character (Tom) married to a sweet, demure, racist caricature of one of their coworkers, including her name without her having any say in the matter or even knowledge of it until it was already under production (Sabine).

These are 45 year old white men who are fetishizing and mystifying (?) Chinese culture for brownie points and then went and whitewashed their main character so they could sell more toys to a white audience, and then went onto completely disconnect her from her culture so the white boy can explain her culture to her.

Miraculous Ladybug has done exactly what they set out to do, and it’s only because you’re able to look past what you’re told to see what you are shown that anyone in the fandom is able to realize just how fucked up Adrien’s behavior is–

Because the writers are winning. They’re doing exactly what they set out to do: there’s a reason most of the fandom is genuinely convinced Adrien’s never even done anything wrong ever,and it takes hundreds of screenshots and gifs straight from the show before people even can begin to realize “hmm, maybe this sunshine child has… Done bad things? Hurt people?”

And then it takes even more examples and stories from real life victims of harassment like what Marienette faces before those same people finally stop scrambling for excuses and realize that Adrien’s never going to change because he’s never going to admit or even realize he’s in the wrong, because the writers insist that he is right.

And that’s exactly what they believe too. It’s baked into the very core of the show.
