Everytime I play BG3, I hear Frank from The Rocky Horror Show (1975) in Astarion. If we talk about Halloween costumes, this would be the perfect for him - straight from Transylvania.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Officially Announced for PC and Google Stadia - IGN
An interview with Larian Studios with tiny bit of detail that I thought was worth noting:
1.) Wizards said they had to use 5th edition dungeons and dragons rules.
2.) This implies therefore that as per 5th edition we are roughly 100 years after the events of ToB. Therefore unlikely to involve the Bhaalspawn.
3.) However worth noting that in the comics, Minsc gets teleported into the future so there’s scope for everyone’s favourite berserker and space hamster to make an appearance.
