Happy my illustrations for @fash_rev got a little revival following the #10yearchallenge sadly, most of the garments discarded in 2009 have probably yet to decompose or biodegrade. Considering that around 350.000 tonnes of UK clothing are sent to landfill each year, maybe the real challenge of 2019 should be demanding clothing made from biodegradable materials and closing the loop! ♻️

A little #tbt and a little reminder of how long it takes for clothes to decompose in landfill… think twice before stocking up on extra winter clothes you don’t necessarily need, look in your own wardrobe first or go charity shopping instead of hitting the high street ♻️

My very first mural and hopefully not my last as it was so much fun to do! Painted in Heraklion, Crete as part of the Lakkos project, an initiative to upgrade Heraklion’s previously most neglected area with a fascinating history.
Using the existing textures and patterns in the wall as a starting point, the design in based on sketches I made at the beach, trying to capture the different patterns in the sea water
If you happen to be in Heraklion and you want to have a closer look, my mural is based just around the corner of the new cultural centre and makes an excellent selfie backdrop So happy to have been part of this project and leave my mark on the wonderful island of Crete.
