It’s ok to have those bottoms, just don’t spend too much time there, you can get lost. I spent 6 years lost… sad to think about and remember, but proud of pulling myself out. Some people aren’t so lucky.

People are going to stare no matter what. We instinctively think it’s because of our flaws. But did you ever stop and think it’s something special they see?

When I’m out and about, I’ve learned to just focus on myself and who I’m with. No one else’s opinion matters to me. My body is mine, no one else’s.

I’ve lost too many “fun” opportunities because of worrying about what others will think about me. Or the looks I will get. The human body is different for everyone, no one is the same or alike. Those people who claim to be flawless show their flaws when they judge other’s by how they look. Beautiful people don’t do that

Warning ⚠️ Long rant, raw emotion:
I’m struggling today.
This morning I woke up after a rough night, being unable to sleep because of whole body pain. I felt like I had lifted weights, moved furniture, something that would have caused pain to be so bad. But I hadn’t. My legs aches I couldn’t even lay still or straight. I had to prop them on pillows and constantly move to be comfortable. I took an ibuprofen and went back to sleep.

I woke up nauseous at 10 am, but had to take my daughter to work, and run necessary errands. It was time to get ready for work at 11am, I took a Zoltan for my nausea but could not bring myself to struggle with the #compression leggings that I wear daily to help support my legs and reduce inflammation and pain. I threw on a pair of tight leggings under my regular jeans and had the strength to look mice hoping to feel better, because, #whenyoulookgoodyoufeelgood

I began feeling better as I drove into work.

But this evenings emotions crashed. I’ve seen a couple of #lipedema specialist surgeons and received quotes, but this one I received today really hit me. This is something that is crazy expensive because #lipedema is considered #cosmeticsurgery here in the #united states

-and being something out of my range for affordability, it hit me, will I have to do this everyday? Wake up in pain everyday for the rest of my life? This is a progressive disease. I’ve done my part in losing over 150lbs hoping to feel better and I just feel worse, more pain from the lipedema fat left on my upper thighs pressing on the nerves. Unable to move quickly or even run. My dream is to run!! But my thoughts and emotions are telling me no hope right now.
i know things will get better, but I’m in a rough spot right now. I just want to curl up and sleep and forget about it all.

It’s ok to not be ok sometimes. Give yourself time to feel the emotion, address it and move forward somehow. (at Los Angeles, California)

My trip to #stlouis for my #officialdiagnosis of #lipedema caught me completely off guard with an extra diagnosis of #secondarylymphedema and #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome
I’m still processing it all, and angry also. Angry that Doctor’s assume because you’re overweight that it’s because you’re just fat. If someone is overweight it’s not always because they overeat and aren’t active. There are reasons such as with me! I had no idea I’m holding 30lbs of fluid that isn’t supposed be be there! I was ignorant to thinking I had #lymphedema because my lower legs aren’t affected. I never knew I could have this only in my thighs and trunk. But if I don’t take care of it now, it will progress to my lower legs, and get worse.
The plan is to decongest this fluid in my thighs and trunk with #manuallymphaticdrainage massage, #graduatedcompression knee highs and a custom #compression Capri fitted to my measurements AFTER getting rid of the fluid. Then coming back to St. Louis to talk about processing through my insurance for #lipedemaliposuction

I’m grateful to have found specialists that are caring and knowledgeable about these diseases and other friends here on social media like @palegingerpear @whitepeachlove and others.
