Even as subtle as the elves are, it’s unlikely your relationship with Glorfindel would stay secret for long
People definitely know something’s up since he’s always by your side and smiles constantly
He’ll stare at you from across the room, ignoring whoever’s speaking to him with hearts in his eyes
Glorfindel will find any excuse to come over and talk to you, standing slightly closer than is considered appropriate
He’s much happier than usual, even if that was possible
Although he does his best not to touch you and give away the nature of your relationship, he can’t always help himself
It’s mostly small subtle touches like brushing up against you as he passes or having a hand on your knee under the table during dinner
He gets extremely jealous if someone flirts with you but will restrain himself since the two of you aren’t public yet
But he’ll glare at them from across the room or be slightly less kind to the other person in future, taking an instant dislike to them
Erestor finally gets a chance to tease Glorfindel about his sour mood since normally it’s the other way around
Elrond definitely knows, even if he doesn’t say anything
The two of you often go for long walks through the gardens of Rivendell together, your hand on the crook of his elbow
You often catch other elves staring at the two of you, giggling. They love to gossip and probably already think the two of you are dating, even though there has yet to be an announcement
Glorfindel doesn’t seem to notice as much as you do, happy and content in his own little bubble with you for company
The two of you sneak into each other’s chambers in the evenings where you can be as affectionate as you like
He likes to make up for all the times he’s wanted to touch you during the day
It’s likely that as soon as you’re together, you’ll be pulled onto his lap with him nuzzling at your neck
It’s not exactly the worst way to end your day, wrapped up in sheets with a beautiful elf cuddling you

Sam
I mean, duh. Sam’s a gardener himself and basically the only working class Hobbit of the bunch, he would probably be ecstatic about having a fellow plant nerd with him. And it also helps that you’re really pretty but shhhh. You’d help him so much during his daily life - telling him all about proper plant care that even he didn’t know and introducing him to new species of plants that he can show Mr Frodo. You gave him some sunscreen once (because God knows we need that) and he still thanks you to this day for it. 100% leaves hints for you using the language of flowers, hoping the roses he gives you will say what he never dares to.
Frodo
Listen,, Frodo has a thing for gardeners. I can’t prove it, but you can’t disprove it either. Check mate. But in all seriousness, I can totally see him falling for a plant parent. Just imagine him watching you and his beloved Sam talk about plants together with the biggest darn heart eyes the Shire’s ever seen. Being the cute little nerd he is, he’d ask all about the meaning of different plants as a subtle way to communicate his feelings. He’s sweet like that.
Aragorn
He’d definitely be more into the field botanist type of plant nerd. Someone who can identify which plants are which, what not to eat and what tastes delicious. For instance, he was very thankful that you reminded him that creeping charlie is toxic to horses before he almost poisoned poor Brego. Sometimes, when you’re rattling off plant facts, he can’t help himself and kisses you for being so clever. At first he saw you as a wonderful traveling partner but that definitely develops into something more over time
Thranduil
Okay just hear me out. Mirkwood is so pretty and you cannot tell me they have interesting beautiful flora in there. Imagine a field botanist wandering into his lands and getting their ass kindly handed to them by the giant spiders (yikes) only to be saved by the Elven King himself.. who then makes them his personal gardener. That’s a fic I’d read in a heartbeat. He’d get only the finest seeds and bulbs for his darling little plant enthusiast, especially when his feelings grow stronger. Totally makes you cover up because he doesn’t want your “pretty little face getting sunburned”. He much prefers to make you red in other ways
Legolas
Like father like son. But, of course, he’s a little different about it. You want to go out foraging and studying? He’s right out there with you! Elves are in touch with nature in a way us Humans can’t even comprehend - that’s a field day for plant lovers. He probably knows all about plants himself, and would happily tell you all about the Elven uses and folklore of your favorite Flora. He’d be absolutely fascinated to hear about the human side of that too. He’ll protect you out on your little research expeditions and practically beg you to tell him all about plants. Match made in heaven.
Thorin
I know this seems weird, but listen. This is the dwarf who (clearly, in my opinion) fell in love with Bilbo flipping Baggins. I’m convinced he has a thing for cottagecore icons. I know it in my heart. A botanist would probably have a hell of a time figuring out what plants can grow best in Erebor’s mountain soil. And yes, he’d comfort you when you feel like ripping your hair out trying to do that haha. Absolutely sets apart an entire outdoor area for your little garden. He’d probably give you a window room (aside from his chambers ) so you can grow some indoor plants too.
Beorn
We’ve seen this man’s house in the movies. He wouldadore a gardener partner. He takes care of the animals and livestock, you take care of the blooms. He takes you out on rides around the forest, you sitting on his back while he’s in bear form, perfectly content to listen to you ramble away about the different kinds of trees. Beorn is very impressed that you know so much about plants. And if herbal medicine is your thing, that’d certainly come in handy with all the cuts he gets driving off orcs. Seeing you take care of him like that is actually a tad flustering, though he resolves to fluster you right back to hide the peachiness in his own face. You two likely met because he saw you checking out the plants around his territory, but he saw you meant no harm (and that you were cute) so you two became friends (and soon partners) very quick.
A very late follow-up to this post I made for The Hobbit WLW Imagines!! Also, I’m thinking of doing another post involving Silmarillion ladies like Haleth, Luthien and Celebrian, but I know nothing about the Silmarillion, so I’ll need some help. Arwen
Arwen is an absolute smitten sweetheart of a girlfriend
When she loves, she does so with her whole being
Expect to find pressed flowers in between the pages of your favorite book, marking passages that remind her of you
Feather light kisses with those big soft lips of hers that are just barely there
And gentle caresses dripping with tenderness throughout the day
It’s funny to imagine that after dumping Aragorn, she fell in love with you
So she gave up a mortal man for a mortal girl
And Elrond is in the back feeling more frustrated than ever
Not because Arwen is marrying a woman, but because he finally thought she was giving up her thing for mortals
You and Arwen spend a good portion of the day just lounging around in Rivendell, talking about anything
She likes to rest her head on your chest and vice versa
I can feel the softness from here
Arwen also likes to dress you up in beautiful outfits
She loves seeing her beloved look their best
Though whether you’ve just woken up with bedhead, or all dressed up in one of her gowns, she thinks you’re angelic either way
Arwen just exudes tenderness and care in all aspects of her life

Eowyn
Eowyn is a bit hard to get to know
At least at first
By the time of the War of the Ring, she’s pretty obviously depressed and a little standoffish
But she also has this determination, this steadfastness that simply makes her irresistible
The way to win her heart is through consistent, unending support
When Eowyn makes up her mind, there’s no stopping her
She’s set
So to have someone who will consistently be there for her, helping her into her armor and sharpening her sword, it makes her fall so much quicker
And when you stay by her side after the battle in the Halls of Healing, she can’t help herself
She takes a rough, gloved hand, eyes teary, and presses a passionate kiss to your lips
Eowyn is a passionate lover
She wants to support you like you have supported her
And she’s almost addicted to the feeling of your lips on hers
Sometimes, in the middle of training, she’ll come over after beating an opponent and basically make out with you to celebrate her victory
Eowyn is also very protective, teaching you how to fight and staying by your side whenever possible
If you’re wounded, good luck getting her to rest or eat
“NO! I will not leave her side! Not my beloved!!”
Eowyn is fierce and utterly special, but she has a caring side too
Feeding you herself when you’re sick or wounded, always checking in on you, and treating you with a tenderness that even her brother has yet to see in her
We all need an Eowyn
Galadriel
Galadriel is a very special case, relationship-wise
Her deep insight into the hearts of men is what first drew her to you
She couldn’t help but smile to herself when she saw your thoughts turn to how beautiful she is, feeling flattered despite herself
And when she saw that you had not a shred of malice or ill-intent towards her people or companions, she decided she could indulge these feelings of hers
So, she spends time crafting her feelings towards you, studying both them and you
She gives the BESTadvice
Anything you need to hear, she has already said
Even the simplest of touches, her hand brushing against yours, is enough to ignite shivers that wrack you to your core
And she loves that, so she makes a point to “accidentally” brush against you during the day
Just to see you flustered
Tease Galadriel is something we all need in life
When you two are in a room with others, she often flirts with you telepathically
Whether that’s saying how beautiful you look right into your head
Or sending you images of what she’s thinking about doing to you
It never fails to fluster you, and she loves it
Seeing others ask why your face is so red is one of the few things that can pull a giggle from her lips
Aside from you, of course
Galadriel’s life became to much more fun after you came into it
And she cherishes you for that
Making sure you have the best of what you could ever need or want

Boromir
This man would know when you were overthinking and what exactly was happening, for sure. He’d seen it in the men around him who were planners. The first few times you overthink though, he’d probably overthink himself with what to do. He wouldn’t know whether to shake you as if to wake you up of whether to give you a warm, solid hug. After awhile of trying out different ways, when you’re relaxed and far from your overthinking, Boromir would most likely, in a shy way, ask you what exactly would you like him to do when you go into your overthinking mode. After telling him, the next time it occurs again, he’d do exactly what you’d say and would sooner of later even improve it to ensure you more comfort and less overthinking. Despite his busy schedule and everyone wanting him during every part of the day, Boromir would always make time for you and would be there to aid in unwinding, especially after an overthinking session.
Frodo
Frodo is an overthink too, especially when it comes to your relationship. Chances are, when you’re overthinking, he’d take a seat beside you, cover your hand, and smile, silently helping you to breathe in and out. He’d also leave you flowers when you wake up the day with a note telling you he loved you and some warm, delicious food on the table as a way of comforting you about the entire dilemma. Frodo would also be the type to say “shhh” to you and holding you close if ever you needed him to and would kiss you on the forehead, silently just waiting and supporting you and being there for you.
Gimli
This dwarf would have no idea what to do. Chances are he’d blink at you the first few times and start grumbling and pacing around the room, eyeing you warily. He even seems the type to call Legolas or Aragorn or any of the Hobbits (he knows Boromir wouldn’t be of much help to him) if ever he had no idea what to do and was personally panicking. Once you explained it to him though and he understands, he would probably squeeze your hand, place your hair behind you ear, and brush his lips against yours in an attempt to distract you. Gimli also seems the type to say jokes so be ready for that. He would generally be very present and comforting and concerned and that would really touch you and help you take a breath.
Sam
He would be very much like Frodo to be honest. I think though that, since he knows what’s going on already, Sam would be the type to take both your hands in his, press a kiss to them, and lead you out of the room and into the garden. In the garden, he’d make you stand first to feel the wonderful wind against your skin and would show you the different, vibrant flowers after. Sam would also tell you “I love you” quietly and would hold your hand the entire time you’re attempting to regain your breath. During times when you’re really panicking, he’d pull you into an embrace and whisper to you loving, beautiful things.
