stars-self-ships:

A little while back, I did a small sketch of my Lovers of Aether S/I Psycha, on a sticky note pad, and it was just so cute that I knew I had to post it to tumblr at some point. I figured that it would be a perfect fit for my self-ship blog, so here it is in all its cuteness!

It’s that time again…

… for Part 7 of my Lovers of Aether Incorrect Quotes series!

Man, it’s been a while since I’ve last made one of these posts! The main reason behind that is because I had a whole bunch of incorrect quotes to choose from, so my biggest obstacle was narrowing the selection down to ten or eleven quotes for the eventual seventh part in this series… then, the last two nights happened.

On the day before yesterday, with recently gained know-how on how to use the material dialog function in Medibang (My go-to art software in which I make the text boxes in), I decided that not only did I want to make more custom text boxes, but I also wanted to repattern and fix the colors of all sixteen text boxes I had already made. Needless to say, it took a while.

While the changes are extremely miniscule and would take a close observer to notice the differences in the patterning in the text boxes, they look a whole lot cleaner now, and it’s now far easier for me than ever to make customized text boxes for characters in the Rivals of Aether franchise that deserve more love!

I find that the incorrect quotes I settled on for this post are amidst the funniest and sweetest ones I’ve chosen yet— you’ll see EXACTLY why once you give them a look!

Previous Parts:1,2,3,4,5,6

(Based on a post my good friend @minxxikuomade!)

I used a few of my newly-made custom textboxes here, namely those of Clairen’s family; Dohren, Ren and Issa! Supposedly, there’s now a ten image limit for posts (Unless there’s always been and I’ve just somehow never exceeded it), so I had to save one I originally made for this part for next time.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading this latest batch of incorrect quotes, and Part 8 is certainly in the cards and shall be unveiled in due course!

Ever since I first began writing for Psycha, I’ve always wanted to write cutesy little one-shots featuring him and his classmates from Lovers of Aether, but didn’t quite know how to go about doing so in terms of thinking of a plot…

… that was until I discovered this post, which includes a vast array of dialogue prompts that are perfect for centering drabbles around! So, to anybody who’s interested, I had a fun idea— if there’s any specific prompt(s) that you like from the post I linked, send that prompt to me via ask alongside a ‘Psycha + [Character of your choosing]’ and I will do my best to bring that prompt to fruition! ✨

If the Fated AcolyteandQuincy T. Page are any indication, it’s no surprise that I love creating self-inserts that are designed as faithfully to their source material/time period as I can manage! And after discovering two games that would ultimately shape this blog into what it is today— Rivals/Lovers of Aether respectively— it only took a couple of days before I decided to design a self-insert for the Aether franchise.

And I did! … sort of.

Because designing a Rivals/Lovers of Aether self-insert would involve choosing an animal to base myself on as well as drawing him anthropomorphically as well as taking what I would come up with for his Rivals design and make a Lovers-accurate design based on it… the prospect of a Rivals/Lovers S/I was easier said than done.

However, I did have a general idea of what I wanted his character to be like for both iterations, and before long introduced Psycha, the Clairvoyant Enigma, to my blog in this post right here! It was after I uploaded this post that I began scouring the internet for inspiration on how to design an anthropomorphic sheep character, and while I did ultimately begin a sketch of Psycha’s Rivals counterpart…

Longtime followers know which counterpart came first.

And as of today, February third…

It’s been a full year since the creation of Psycha’s Lovers of Aether design!

Personally, of all of the OCs and self-inserts that I’ve shown off on this blog, I think Psycha may very well be my ultimate favorite. While I make sure to design all of my self-inserts to have an aspect that I have— whether that means their personality or what they look like— I find that Psycha is the absolute closest to who I am as a person (Barring the fact that he’s a 4'10" sheep, of course).

So, some time after I began speaking of him more and more in various posts on this blog, I knew that I wanted to draw him again for the one year anniversary of the design of his Lovers of Aether iteration. I initially intended on drawing up a completed art piece of his Rivals of Aether iteration, which is pretty much finalized by now, though…

I think it’s safe to say that Psycha’s Lovers design is the definitive Psycha.

Some might notice two interesting details in this drawing of Psycha; firstly, he’s not wearing his usual blue plaid flannel. I realized when going into drawing him again that I had only drawn Psycha without it once, and that sketch didn’t even end up being posted. I figured I ought to draw him in just the t-shirt he wears underneath it for a change— it’s also the first time you get to see his full ‘Supaboy’ shirt design, which is modeled after the Super Famicom logo!

Secondly, proudly pinned to his chest is a heart-shaped bi flag pin. I decided to include this because, in all honesty, I didn’t start embracing the fact that I was bisexual until a little after I designed Psycha, which was when I knew for certain that I swung both ways in terms of gender attraction.

It’s kind of an unwritten rule at this point that all of my self-inserts are bisexual, though the most bi S/I of them all is for certain Psycha. Even in spite of his sheepishness, I feel as though he would be proud to show off who he is with such a pin, and it fits his design a lot better than I expected it to. Perhaps I’ll make it a permanent addition!

I’m really proud of this drawing of Psycha, seeing as in some ways it’s a fully realized version of this sketch, and I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading about the process of this art piece of Clairen’s very canon love interest!

(As a side note… hey, Dan Fornace and @elranno, since it was decided to add the four new workshop rivals to the Rivals lineup… can we make Psycha canon to the Lovers universe for real?)

At last, for the first time since August of last year…

Time for another set of Lovers of Aether Incorrect Quotes!

I’ve been wanting to make this particular part for quite some time now, as you may have guessed, though there are a lot of reasons why I’m just now getting around to it. Perhaps the most prevalent was the fact that I just kept on finding good incorrect quotes— to the point where it was almost impossible to choose ten of them for one post!

But after deciding on ten of my personal favorites, I can safely say that this batch of quotes may just be my favorite of the eight parts— in fact, do you remember when I said that Part 7 had the ‘funniest and sweetest quotes yet’? The ones I’ve chosen for Part 8 take that claim up to eleven!

Before you check them out, I’ve noticed that, while formatting this post, reading each quote without clicking each one’s respective image can sometimes make it tough to know when one quote ends and another begins (Funny how I don’t catch this the first seven times). So, for the best experience, click each image and swipe/use your arrow keys to move onto the next!

Previous Parts:1,2,3,4,5,6,7

So many of these quotes are perfect for the characters I chose them for, aren’t they? Literally as I found the quotes that I used for this part, I would read one and think “Yep, that’s Psycha” or “That’s totally something Wrastor would do”. I think the single most perfect quote of this entire set is Psycha’s 'three best qualities'— it’s like it was MADE for him!!

Around the end of next month, it will have been a full year since I’ve started this Lovers of Aether Incorrect Quote series, and what I’m aiming to do is release Part 9 on that date, then Part 10 on April Fool’s Day, which is Lovers of Aether’s original release date. It’s the perfect plan!

For now, I hope that you’ve enjoyed the quotes because these are definitely my top favorites!

Self-Shippers of tumblr, today is a very special day…

Today, January 17th, marks the one-year anniversary of me being with Clairen, my main romantic F/O. ❤️

It was on this day last year that I first downloaded Lovers of Aether to try out, and at the time, I had next to no idea that not only would I come out of the experience with a whole host of F/Os (That take up roughly 70% of my entire F/O list, in fact), but that I would also meet perhaps my most doted over romantic F/O.

I’ve spoken to great lengths about how my affection toward Clairen came to be a few times before, which you can read all about in these two posts hereandhere, so there isn’t a whole lot more I can detail in terms of how I felt when I first saw her…

… but what I can talk about was the impact she had on my life. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen for a romantic F/O harder than I did for Clairen. Immediately after meeting her in Lovers of Aether, she became my top fictional crush, bar none.

I pulled off theperfectplaythough of her route in Lovers of Aether, ultimately ending in her agreeing to go to the homecoming dance with me. I began using her as my go-to character in pretty much every Rivals of Aether match I played onward. I woke up at six in the morning to order her plush. I snagged every single issue of Tales of Aether once they released just to see her beautiful face.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that the biggest reason that I chose to make a self-shipping side blog in the first place was because of the immense love I had for Clairen, in addition to the other F/Os I picked up from the Aether franchise. Granted, what I’m about to say applies to all of my F/Os, but I’m sure you can imagine that there is something particularly special to me about her…

Clairen genuinely makes me happy.

Even the thought of her is enough to get me smiling like a complete dork. I have held my Clairen plush in my arms far more times than you might imagine, seeing as it’s the closest thing I have to being in her embrace… it’s a good thing her plush is the biggest of the lot. There have been days in this past year where life has been hard… so hard, that some days it was an impossibility to even keep my eyes open. But every time I felt that nothing was going right…

I would think of Clairen. I would think about the way she would hold her hand in mine. I would think about the way she would gush about me to other people. I would think about the way her face lights up whenever she laughs. I would think about those serene moments where it’s just the two of us, gazing endlessly into one another’s eyes…

Clairen makes me feel loved.

And for our one year anniversary together… I just had to draw her.

I am tremendously proud of this drawing of her, in part because of how much of an improvement it is over the drawing I made of her last year, but also keep in mind that I drew this all in one afternoon, and managed to finally perfect drawing Clairen in my artstyle.

I had also initially planned on writing Clairen a letter in this post in a similar fashion to how I wrote one for my big sis Ayala here, but… I feel as though this entire post is one big love letter in itself. My love for Clairen has been made more than apparent with how long this post is and the drawing of her that I made, I find.

Lovers of Aether might credit itself to be ‘a friendship game’, but to me, it’s more than that. It’s a game about friendship, family, and true to its name, love…

… which I managed to find therein.❤️
