Hide your wallets guys, Hyoh is finally here. Click to see the full landscape version
(right click view, to see it in high res!) ( I just realized Tumblr compress the image quite badly, so view it here for better resolution https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Bxwzl )Yes, thats the helmet of Veritas of Fire and Light, both broken, and the blade of Laswell and Dark Veritas. It is implied that Hyoh beat their ass here.
As for the design, I can’t find any high res official reference image of Hyoh, so designing him is rather tricky. I also took the liberty to change his pants, making it less baggy, and more like nazi uniform. I removed the red lining on his boots as it looks too tacky for me.
For the Veritas, I straight up reference FFXIV for Fire veritas, as there is no official image of him other than pixels, and I just paint up something in random for Light Veritas’ helmet.
Honestly, the sunrise theme is pretty random, I was pretty clueless on what to paint for his background, other than debris or perhaps just plain color. So I just try out some colors to how it looks and it turns out pretty well, so I went full throttle on it, and as it progresses, I was convinced that it is a good and unique take of him. Hopefully Square Enix don’t waste his designs and produce more games with him in it :)
Nichol, CG Fina may be awesome, but Hyoh is the real hype. Basically he is one of the benchmark in the current meta DPS. Sure, he will be overpowered by newer units, but as of now, he is more than enough for all available challenges in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. He is the HYPE.
Nichol is one of the main characters in FFBE. And the special version, Maritime Strategist Nichol is one of the best, most useful unit in the game right now. He can basically fit in to any squad available, and pretty easy to gear. I hope I can paint this guy and do him justice.
I think she is an interesting character with a unique design, unfortunately, her role is minimal in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which I believe is a wasted opportunity. Hope fully, she will come back in the future in a different costume, as a rare summon.
Painting this may be difficult, but it’s an incredibly satisfying journey. It all started when Forge World release the miniature for Leman Russ, and I immediately fell in love with it. I like the fact that Russ is not old looking warrior with thick beard, but a handsome rugged savage hero that I always dreamed of, as depicted in the Forge World art and mini.
The process was difficult because there is no one consistent design on him. Every art sport a different design, different sword, different axe. And the angle of his posture is pretty difficult to translate in 2d space. Nevertheless, I’ll elaborate about the journey daunting process in another post. Right now, just enjoy this awesome image of the Wolf King. I dare say it’s the most handsome version of Russ you’ve seen so far.
And for those of you who fancy a little bit more. You can read a short “story commentary” from the remembrancer who captured this image in this link below. Enjoy!
