“Sometimes since I’ve been in the garden I’ve looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden - in all the places.” ― Frances Hodgson Burnett
When Jabari listened the rain first notes, his within Ancestors rumbled through him, eager to feel the water. He took the rod with his ancestors horns and he went out to please them.
All the tangled, suffocating thoughts the elders creates on his body, pretending to control him, were vaporized with every rain drop. The Ancestors, refreshed, became peaceful babies again, so the boy finally was able to rest from their demanding voices.
Being the grumpy ancients gone with the cold, Jabari heard the soft whispers of the rain spirits.
“ No more opaque layers around your core. Embrace the cold. Every heat is an illusion of comfortability, you can play with it, but don’t forget to stay naked at the end, since the corpses are only for the ones who preserved their name”.
I am so excited to say that my painting “The Tale of the Swan Princes” was accepted into Infected by Art Vol. 9! I am so happy to be included alongside so many incredible works of art by artists that are literally my role models. Also, a confession: this is the only fantasy painting that I finished last year, and I finished it just in time for this competition. Covid closed schools and cancelled conventions and threw my work schedule out the window. I felt like I accomplished very little of the work that I’m really passionate about. But here is a bright spot, at the start of a new year, and I’m reminded that even if you’re only moving forward a tiny bit, you’re still moving forward. . posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/CKWc2VCDGPo/
A few close-ups from my latest painting, the Tale of the Swan Brothers! This one was inspired by the need to do something different with color (you know I love my saturated golds a little to much). This idea from my sketchbook turned out to be a good fit for a much more subtle color palette, and I love how it turned out. It was very satisfying to paint the clean white feathers of the swans that just about glow.
I’m so glad to finale show of my latest painting: The Tale of the Six Swans! Inspired by one of my favorite books, Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. This is the only personal painting I’ve finished this year…quarantine has played havoc with my work/life balance. But you know what? It turned out great, and my family is still healthy and happy, and I got to spend lots of great time with them. I am SO ready for Christmas break. . posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/CI3LV_MDAl-/

I am alive! Haven’t posted anything for about five months, but here I am on the last day of May with a ‘Dream’ prompt for #mermadie21 by @madie_arts ⠀ Now that I technically haven’t missed Mermay this year, here’s a quick recap of everything that happened during this time: work. I’ve been pretty inactive here because my daytime job consumed all of my time, energy, and inner resources. It keeps doing it, but currently I feel a bit more resourced than I was a few months ago so hopefully I’ll be able to draw a little bit more. ⠀ I also discovered a really fun challenge for June and now I’m excited to create a few entries! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #mermay #mermay2021 #mermaidillustration #illustrationoftheday #illo #artistsoninstagram #digitalillustration #magicalart #illustrationgram #magicart #fantasyillustration #drawingchallenge #illustrationartist #цифроваяиллюстрация #цифровойрисунок #диджиталарт (at Minsk, Belarus) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPi2_7LjKTb/?utm_medium=tumblr
