I really liked the characters and story lines in these two, the world however was not for me. “The Breeds” are children that have been experimented on, only to become the bane of society… not a favourite urban fantasy read at all.
While this book took a little more then a minute to get me into it, by the end I was all in and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next one Ruthless Gods.

♀️Okay, let’s talk about another retelling… Yes, “To Kill a Kingdom” by Alexandra Christo is a retelling of “Little Mermaid” BUT, and please listen to me, it is not romantic as the Disney’s one. “To Kill a Kingdom” is a pretty dark fantasy for YA and I love it. I’m not gonna lie to you, there is romance but it is extremely slow burn (another thing that I appreciate in a YA). Another point in its favor is that it is 100% standalone!

I like the first book, I loved the second one but from the third… it’s a big NO for me! Can we just talk about the main character? I cannot say that I liked her at the beginning but still I could stand her, from the third book I wanted to go into it and kill her with my own hands. Let’s not talk about the fourth, it’s still an open wound. And do not come to tell me that things improve in the Novella because I found it too disrespectful to us (readers). You (author) can’t say that it’s a trilogy and then it turns out being four more novella. Especially if one of these books might well be summed up in a few chapters. It’s just my opinion…
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography. It’s a very original and detailed story. I think my favourite book is the second or the third one but every time I’m convinced of one thing Ransom Riggs makes me break down all the certainties (in a positive way).

And today is Earth Day! Do you know one thing that we all have in common? We all live on Earth! Do you do anything to help make Earth a better place? I try to do as much as I can every day to keep my carbon footprint as low as possible, including doing the 3 R’s - Reduce, Reuse and Recyle. I also use as many eco-friendly products as I can, and I love finding new products and ideas to use. There are so many great ideas! What do you guys do to help the environment? I would love to find some new ways to help today!

I don’t think I’ve DNFed any books this year … I’ve set more than a few aside, but I definitely intend to get back to them. I’ve actually only DNFed a handful of books in all the years I’ve been reading. I always say that I’m going to DNF if I am not enjoying a book, but I always end up reading it anyways, because I’m always wondering if it will get better. Sometimes I end up regretting that decision, but sometimes it does get better. I think it helps that I’ve been a lot picker about what I read lately as well. Instead of reading ALL the books, I’m just choosing books that sound interesting to me, and I think that helps. What about you guys?

What’s the longest series that you own? I think the *Shadowhunter Chronicles* is the longest series that I own. If you include all the spin-off series, as I do, then it’s just one long series. I love these books so much! *City of Bones* is one of the books that made me love reading again way back when. What about you guys? What’s the longest series that you own?

I definitely need to read (finish) the *Graceling* series by Kristin Cashore. I read the first book waaaaaay back when, and don’t remember much about it, so I’d for sure have to start the series over from the beginning. I’ve been meaning to get to it for a while now. Do you like sci-fi books? What about fantasy books? Do you prefer one over the other? Honestly, I like both. I do seem to lean a little more towards fantasy, but I always enjoy sci-fi when I do read it. Which is not often, because I don’t really know of many sci-fi books or series. I do love a good fantasy though! (Especially romantasy! ) One fantasy series that I am determined to read this year is the *Daevabad Trilogy*! I started the first book earlier this year, but set it aside because of focusing issues, but I am determined to get back to it this month. What are some sci-fi or fantasy series that you love?
