So I renewed my HBO Max account just to watch Matrix Resurrections. It was pretty meh, but I was still happy to see Neo and Trinity after so long. So whatever. But then I was stuck with a month’s subscription and wondering what else to watch.
I haven’t watched Adult Swim in a really long time and somehow I totally missed season 7 of Venture Brothers even being a thing! I binged it of course once I found it on HBO.
The thing that makes me sad though is how many people who like Marvel or DC, and superhero/villain crack AU’s, are totally sleeping on this amazing show. It’s all the best superhero/villain tropes, but adult themed and uncensored. It’s set in the same universe as the original Johnny Quest. And the way everything interweaves and the call back jokes that stretch across years of VB episodes is something to behold. A seemingly throw away character in one season can show up again years later. I love that. You think all MCU movies intertwine? VB doesn’t forget anything either.
The show has 7 seasons and one series finale movie still in the works. I have no shame trying to share this with anyone that I can. Here’s the video summary of seasons 1-4 below to see if this would also match your brand of humor. I beg you to give it a try if you even think that you might like it.
Keanu and the Christmas season, it’s going to be magical
I have a little getaway booked with my love for the release of The Matrix Resurrections. We’ve hardly been able to spend time together since June. First we had lockdown and lately he’s been doing night shift. During all this I had something traumatic I was dealing with and so I’ve been trying to get through the black cloud that was hanging over me these past months. Often there were days where I felt I wouldn’t make it. I would say to him over the phone I just gotta make it to Christmas and we can be sitting in that cinema together and we’d geek out about the trailer and that made me feel hopeful. It’s special to us because the first time I ever watched these movies was with him. He was so excited to gift me with my first Matrix experience and of course they became my favourite. So after we spend Christmas with our families we are staying in a five star hotel in Darling Harbour for a few nights and watching as many sessions of this movie as we want and exploring our own city together. We have a spot we used to meet up when we were first dating and so catch us there holding hands and doing cute shit. ☺️
