stop blaming marvel for art house films not being worshiped at the box office 2k22 challenge

we are still in the middle of a health nightmare

i don’t get it, I loved everything everywhere all at once and i can’t wait for multiverse of madness

why must one be superior to the other?

watch the movie you want to see, encourage others to see it too, and leave it at that.

screeching about how much marvel sucks( it doesn’t btw just because a section of media is not your thing does not make the section bad) is not going to make me wanna go see the northman ( even though I do wanna see it but you get my point)

FRIENDS! I’ve started writing for another film website (I’m not a traitor, I swear). I will still work on pieces for this blog, but it won’t be my only outlet. Below is my Trainwreck review, originally published on FilmTakeout.com.

Trainwreck

Overall Score: 95%

A rom-com that is anything but a trainwreck.

Currently, this is Amy Schumer’s world and we are all just living in it. Star, writer, director, and producer of the wildly popular Inside Amy Schumer, she is currently owning Hollywood with her unabashedly feminist point of view. Unafraid to talk about her body, her sexual escapades, and the way women behave makes her refreshing in a world of reality tv gone mad. Schumer is now taking her writing and acting to the big screen inTrainwreck. THANK GOODNESS.

Surprise, surprise – the lead character’s name is Amy. From a young age, Amy has been told by her wandering father (played brilliantly by Colin Quinn) that “monogamy isn’t realistic”. Being a daddy’s girl, she takes this to heart and lives a life that is free from romantic ties. Things become a bit more complicated when she meets a sports doctor Aaron (the incredibly charming Bill Hader) who happens to be BFFs with LeBron James.

While the film follows many of the common romantic comedy plot structures, Schumer is able to breathe life into an increasingly stale genre. Surprising characters pop up throughout the film that make it enjoyable from beginning to end. Where else are we going to see a closeted John Cena or a tan Tilda Swinton? The answer is nowhere. There are so many laugh out loud moments that my sides hurt by the end of the movie. But what is even more surprising are the touching moments littered throughout the film. Amy’s relationship with her sister Kim (Brie Larson) and father play a significant part of the story and I found myself with tears in my eyes a few times.

Bill Hader and Amy Schumer have wonderful chemistry with each other. Hader plays Aaron so sincerely; he’s just a nice guy who hasn’t had the best luck with women. He’s smart and kind and it’s easy to see how any girl could fall for him. Naturally, baggage is a part of any relationship and seeing Aaron and Amy work through their own issues gently prods the audience to examine their own. The film easily moves between humor and romance without feeling forced. Even when the typical rom-com montage happens, Amy’s constant snarky narration helps to keep the film from becoming too sappy.

The best part of the film for me personally was LeBron James playing LeBron James. Now, I’m not a sports person, especially not basketball. But Trainwreck made me a fan of this tall, beautiful, funny man. I love when people play caricature versions of themselves and this is maybe a new favorite performance. As a Downton Abbey obsessed, romantic advice giving BFF, James steals every scene he is in. His deadpan style matches Amy’s quirkiness perfectly and the scenes of them together are my favorite.

At the helm of Amy’s sharp, hysterical, and surprisingly poignant writing is Judd Apatow, director of comedies like The 40 Year Old Virgin andKnocked Up. This is my new dream team. Both seem to have a love of dirty jokes – these are endless. But the beauty of this team is that both members want to convey an actual message through the comedy. Apatow has matured in his directing and it is noticeable here. With age comes some understanding and Apatow is no exception. Trainwreck is not just about making us laugh, although you will do plenty of that. It’s about learning to love the broken people in our lives, including (and maybe especially) ourselves. The important thing is that we have to try. Never working on ourselves to be better is easier, but it’s no way to live.”

Directed By: Judd Apatow

Written By: Amy Schumer

Starring: Amy Schumer, Bill Hader, Colin Quinn, Brie Larson, LeBron James

Great Female Humor!  After you read the message about the pilots, please find

Time to read the quote of the day–it is so perfect.

While the C-5 was turning over its engines, a female crewman gave the G.I.s on board the usual information regarding seat belts, emergency exits, etc.

Finally, she said, ‘Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your captain, Judith Campbell, and crew take you safely to Afghanistan ’

An old Master Sergeant sitting in the eighth row thought to himself, 'Did I hear her right? Is the captain a woman? ’

When the attendant came by he said 'Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?’

'Yes,’! Said the attendant, 'In fact, this entire crew is female.’

'My God,’ he said, 'I wish I had two double scotch and sodas. I don’t know what to think with only women up there in the cockpit.’

'That’s another thing, Sergeant,’ said the crew member, 'We No Longer Call It The Cockpit’
'It’s The Box Office.’

Quote of the day:

'Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.’

Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings, We simply continue to fly…usually on a broomstick.
We are flexible like that

While Avengers: Endgame is out there shattering every box office record in the history of cinema, this week’s numbers have shown that not ALL of the strength at the movies has been hoarded by Iron Man, Captain America, Groot, etc.

A good deal of strength has been displayed by none other than a tiny, adorable Pikachu.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, starring Justice Smith, Ken Watanabe, and Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the title character, had a very strong debut week at the U.S. box office, earning over $66 million. According to Box Office Mojo, the film’s strong opening is the highest ever for a film adaptation of a video game. What’s more, it is receiving very positive reviews from audiences and critics alike; with an average grade of A-, it is one of only 6 video game films to ever surpass a “B” average with CinemaScore. Interestingly enough, three of the other video game films to achieve this honor have been the previous three animated Pokemon film installments.

And what’s not to love? Pokemon: Detective Pikachu combines action, humor, and heart and is pleasing for Pokemon fans young and old, casual and diehard, with plenty of almost every Pokemon hidden throughout the movie as well as throwbacks to previous adaptations of Nintendo’s hit franchise. Come on, where have you seen a team of Squirtles putting out a fire before?!

Box Office Mojo also seemed confident in its assertion that Pokemon: Detective Pikachu has the power to become the most successful video game film of all time once it has finished its run. If the love for Deadpool ever happens to fade away for one reason or another, Ryan Reynolds could very well have another adorable franchise to fall back on.

Actor, Deepika Padukone, who has hit the right chords at the box office in the past, is now excited about her two upcoming films — Abbas Mustan’s ‘Race 2′ and Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.

“They are two extremely different films to begin with, so each has its own Jim. As an actor I want to explore as many emotions onscreen as possible and not stick to a genre just because it’s worked for me,” she’d said referring to trying her hand at action apart from the rom-coms that she is often associated with.

“Be it an Aarakshan or a Cocktail, I am just glad that people have accepted me in all roles,” she added. As for juggling time between her films and endorsements, she admits that the pace does get hectic, “but I am living it up work•style” and adds she has no complaints. “Why would there be any. I am doing things that I enjoy, so it’s okay” quips Padukone.

About ‘Race 2′, which will see her in an action avatar, Padukone says that it was thrilling to push the envelope. “Things like these challenge you out of your comfort zone and keep you on your toes, so it’s something I look forward to as well,” she adds.
