why do internet people keeping hyping up the Mariana trench like its some kind of aquatic skull island were all tangentially ocean-related myths are true, its just a big hole there’s no megalodons or krakens down there its just snailfish and isopods.

The Meg (2018)

Silly, little movie with plenty of entertaining scenes, Statham and a fuckin’ huge Megalodon instead of the tiny little Jaws’ shark. I enjoyed it: so brainless, quite scary, quite good!

The final batch of drawings for Mermay! Thank you all so, so much for the response. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought this series to be so well liked and successful on somany of my social media platforms.

I felt like for the final batch, I wanted to explore how paleontologyinfluenced merfolk would look like, and how they influence ‘modern’ merfolk. (Prehistoric Planet probably influenced my decision haha)

These are the lads and lasses that help found the formation for merfolk culture, from first-of-the-firsts like the Anomalocaris and the Tiktaalik to true giants of the sea, like Shastasaurus, Livyatan and Megalodon. The Megalodon is Kara’s personal idol. (Kara’s the great white shark featured in all previous batches, here she’s teaching kids how cool history is!)

The most important figure here in Merfolk history is actually the Mosasaurus, AKA The Ocean Lord. He was a Barbarian King who hated landlubbers and was the sworn nemesis of “The Tyrant King”. He’s revered by modern Merfolk for his combination of strength, cunning, battle prowess and magnetic personality.

However, a tablet written during his time paints a different picture of the Ocean Lord: One of an arrogant, bloodthirsty ruler whose conquering ways and obsessive hatred of the landlubbers did more harm long term than anyone could have imagined.

A shout out to @miuzes , who motivated and helped me with tips all throughout the way. Another shout out @florence-is-gay/@legendary-disaster , who made fan art of Kara!. I’m STILL freaking out! Never would I expect I’d get fan art for this! :D

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I’m so invested in all these, I love your designs and cool ideas so I just had to show my appreciation <3

And I appreciate it lots in return :D

Gorgeous enamel and razor sharp serrations on this 6.35" long, fossil Megalodon tooth. I really like how the enamel color transitions from tan/grey near the edges to a deep blue in the center of the blade.

A group of monster, 6"+ Megalodon teeth that just arrived along with several hundred smaller megs. They arrived just in time as we have been blowing through our remaining inventory of large meg teeth with all the holiday sales.

The teeth are collected by commercial divers in over 100 feet of water off the coast of North Carolina. These teeth were originally buried in the ocean sediments several million years ago and then became fossilized. They were then subsequently uncovered due to wave actions, and can be found on what the divers refer to as “The Ledges”. Six inchers are fairly rare (despite the fact their are eight of them in the photo) and came from super-sized adult sharks. Divers will typically find hundreds of meg teeth for every 6 inch one.

It’s estimated that the megalodon could have grown up to 65 feet in length, bigger than scientists previously thought.

6.70" Megalodon Tooth From South Carolina - Incredibly Rare This Large!

This is an incredibly rare, monster Megalodon tooth found several years ago in the Morgan River near Beaufort, South Carolina. It’s an astounding 6.70" long (actually 6.698" to be precise), is sharply serrated and great symmetry. A tooth like this would be considered a “a once in a lifetime” find for die-hard, Meg tooth divers and a “something you’ll never find” for most who aren’t actively out collecting every week.

This is the largest Megalodon tooth we have ever had for sale and one of the largest you will find for sale ANYWHERE in the world. Please do your homework and see exactly how rare this tooth is. Of course it’s expensive but a bargain price given the rarity of this specimen.
