Haider Ackermann paid tribute to the female form with a collection stepped in androgyny for his label’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection. A story of contradictions, the silhouettes are at once sleek with their modern cuts and relaxed shapes yet dreamy in airy chiffons and silks worn as veils, skirts or tops. Long jackets and baggy trousers speak to mannish style while the low-cut tops and slinky metallic dresses embrace a more feminine form. The play on hard and soft style make the Ackermann woman’s upcoming spring a beautiful contradiction.

Dries van Noten delivered his trademark romanticism with an opulent refinement for his Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The Belgian designer presented dreamy floral prints and relaxed silhouettes featuring a strong theme of gold ranging from metallic vests to more subtle accents like gold pleats. Skirts decorated with ruffles add some volume to the spring season as well as large floral-shaped ornaments in rushed silk and gold plisse. Accessories for the new season include retro, circular-shaped frames and embroidered bags with tribal details.

The Spring/Summer 2014 collection from Anthony Vaccarello’s eponymous label displayed the Belgian designer’s body conscious designs that were not afraid to show a little, or a lot of skin. A color palette of mostly black with pops of white or red revealed dresses and skirts in slinky silhouettes. The designs were embellished with large and round silver gems which either accented cut-away swimsuits or completely decorated skirts with futuristic, V-shaped hemlines. Despite all the show of skin, there were some more covered-up elements like cropped jackets in leather and slouchy trousers.

The Fendi woman embraces color for the new season wearing fiery reds, royal blues and bright corals whether color-blocked or lightly layered. The Italian brand’s signature fur also made an appearance in the form of shaggy bags courtesy of accessories designer Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Besides what one would expect from a bohemian collection like maxi-length dresses and pretty prints, the Unique woman also lets out her artistic side with oversized, menswear inspired shirts and lightweight knits layered on top of wide-legged prints.

Narciso Rodriguez is bringing sexy back for Spring/Summer 2014. With sharply cut miniskirts and shorts paired with cropped tops, it was a more skin-baring approach from the designer. But it’s in the details for the designer. Draped backs added drama to dresses, while the texture of embellished tops resembled the surface of a full moon.
