Seriously this scene is just the sweetest thing eVER. This episode was practically an eye opener for anyone who still had doubts that Arthur loved this guy like starting from how he kept protecting Merlin from the beginning and how he screamed at the top of his lungs when the boulders fell.
Like I have never seen Arthur be like that for ANYONE in the series, it literally looked like he was losing everything at that moment.
But this scene was such an attack on the heart :’) Arthur was never a person to just go and hug someone like this, let alone a guy. But once he knew it was Merlin, just look at that smile and relief on his face. Gwaine is right behind him but he doesn’t give one damn about anyone watching or the fact that Merlin is covered in mud.
Like seriously, Arthur hugging someone covered in mud is a miracle happening right there xD That my fellow hoes, is true love.
I can never get over the fact that Merlin mentioned that he didn’t tell Arthur about his magic because… he didn’t want to put Arthur in a bad position.
Although the statement itself is gay as hell, the meaning behind it is pretty heartwarming and filled with affection. Because when Merlin told Arthur he would’ve chopped his head off, Arthur told him he wasn’t sure what he would’ve done. And Merlin knew that. He knew what Arthur was capable of doing for his sake.
Time and time again Arthur has risked his life to save Merlin (not for Camelot, not for the greater good, simply to save Merlin) and has went against his father, the person he respected the most at the time… and Merlin knew that he would do it every time he needed to.
Before, Merlin was always sad and felt trapped that he could not show the real him to anyone, especially Arthur and was always heartbroken at the fact that Arthur never appreciated him enough. But as they slowly got to know each other more, Merlin’s reason for not telling Arthur went from “He will kill me if he knows” to “If he knows I cannot be by his side”. That change was beautiful as well as heartbreaking. Merlin didn’t fear his own death or demise anymore, he feared he won’t be able to protect Arthur… that was more important.
And Arthur on the other hand, had no second doubts about being there for Merlin, ever. Ever since the begining (leaving like one or two eps), Arthur has had Merlin’s back. Everytime they were in trouble, Arthur’s first instinct was always to keep Merlin behind him if he can to protect him better. No matter what he says to Merlin, his actions always speak otherwise and Merlin understands that completely (because he is the smartest person in the entire kingdom).
So the fact that Merlin feared what Arthur might do for him rather than what he might do to him, was such a glorious thing to see.
[i do not own the gif] And a lot of things are much clearer second time round cuz the first time I was too sleepy to concentrate on everything lol (cuz I binge watched 5 seasons over the course of 3 days and 4 nights)
But the thing I’m mentioning now is when this happened in S4xEp12, when Arthur had to keep being a simpleton to stay in character and Merlin ruffled his hair. Later on when Merlin called him a simpleton, after the others left Arthur threatened Merlin for doing so as usual but the fact is…
Not once… not eVEN FRIGGIN ONCE… did Arthur say ANYTHING about Merlin ruffling his hair
I mean, he is the king of Camelot and if that was anyone else they would probably lose a hand but nope, Merlin ruffling his hair is all good
I was hoping to write a sort of fanfic about Merthur and wanted to know if this has been done already? It probably has been since I’m way too late to the party lol.

What I’m hoping to write is something like this:
Merlin, still waiting for Arthur to rise again, shifts jobs from one precinct to another and keeps working as either a detective or press cuz that gives him more information and clearance than usual people. He has to be on the move cuz people don’t take too well to immortals and Merlin having lived for so many years would have been a rather interesting find to the human kind.
Arthur finally rises from the waters and finds himself in an unknown land and is quite naturally shocked and scared. All he has is his sword and his sanity. He finds his way out and steals anything necessary to keep going forward (cuz he is no idiot lol). He tries to find signs that would make all that was happening to him justified.
Well Merlin finds out about him being finally alive and goes to find him but Arthur doesn’t know anything about Merlin still being there, so problems arise as other sorcerers also find out about the rise of the King.
Will this be an interesting thing to work on? I have a history of not finishing what I start lmao but I do wish to keep writing this whenever I get the chance. Just wanted to know if this is a cool idea or if anyone would be interested in this
It took me about 10 years to know about this awesome series and then a few more days to kill myself over and over again with Merthur videos cuz they are meANT TO BE TOGETHER so yeah… I really need more people to speak with so that I don’t have to crie alone

Okay, so I was watching Merlin earlier (cause, like, it’s awesome) and I heard them say about a million times, “The Druids are peaceful. They do no harm.”
…..No harm? Really? NO HARM?!?!
These tall cape-wearing pixie-elves DID harm…so many freaking times. THEY SAY THEY ARE ROOTING FOR MERLIN, AND YET, THEY THROW EVERYTHING AT HIM! MORDRED, THE CUP OF LIFE, THE DRAGON’S EGG TO MENTION A FEW!
And best of all…they all knew Arthur was going to die! Like, really?!?! If they really didn’t want harm to come, USE YOUR MAGIC! Like, damn, son.
And don’t even get me started on the Great Dragon…
