With the help of the gravekeeper, Scarecrow Jack has recovered his straw and clothing. We imagine his friends will join him shortly.

Scarecrow Jack is assembling himself in the graveyard. We can only presume a murder–of crows that is–is on the way.

Pumpkins have started to appear as Halloween draws near, though we do hope the fellows decide to stay on with us after.

While waiting for work on the study to begin, the librarian has been busy setting up the attic for our newest resident. While we adore all the art the librarian selected, Tanya Shatseva’s “Blue Valentine” is a life-size favourite we particularly adore.

Our newest resident, the doctor, is expected any day now…which means will will have to fetch the coils and other equipment from the ghosts soon. Last we saw them, they were wrapped in the stolen wires, giggling at the high voltage shocks while guzzling unlabelled elixirs.

The wallpaper in the tower room is now finished. The flooring is to be installed next. The ghosts have requested something squishy. Of course they have. We believe the room calls for a firmer approach.

The attic continues its resurrection. When we went to check on the progress today, we saw that the ghosts installed a brick wall.

“To keep the guest comfortable,” they giggled.

We have learned to mistrust the ghosts when they giggle and thus have doubts about the guest’s comfort.

If you hear the ghosts giggle, please be aware they are not acting in your best interests.

The insulation is now installed, and the attic window is becoming clear. We wonder if the room ought be rented or used for storage. The last renter…well, he lingers still in the tower room.

The attic is coming together. The ghosts are installing the rafters and using the best moaning wood available. The creaks reverberate throughout the house.

I finally received some face masks I had ordered a few weeks ago. It’s a bit late for me, but I hope you enjoy this River Thames inspired scene which again shows a few things not to do:
1) The running group is of 4 people and they are a little too close to each other. Should be 2 max
2) The two people playing racketball are again too close to one another.
3) The couple lying down are not exercising good lockdown etiquette.

A little reminder of behaviour to avoid. Don’t over-exert yourself like this mature lady and certainly don’t be a rascal like this young boy. None of these folk should be outside, although it is good that the couple sitting down are drinking fluids. #RemainIndoors

Miyu Kojima Creates Miniature Replicas of Lonely Deaths

Twenty six-year old Miyu Kojima works for a company that cleans up after kodokushi (孤独死) or lonely deaths: a Japanese phenomenon of people dying alone and remaining undiscovered for a long period of time. The instances first began to be reported around 2000, and are thought to be a product of increased social isolation coupled with a greying population.

Part art therapy and part public service campaign, Kojima spends a large portion of her free time recreating detailed miniature replicas of the rooms she has cleaned. A word of caution: although recreated without the corpses, some of the replicas can be quite disturbing.

I went home for the weekend and dug out my old Lil’s diner! It needed some serious cleaning, and a little bit of repair in places, but after an afternoon of work it makes a great backdrop for my earrings! So excited to take it home & photograph everything in here.
