(Just a thought) but I wonder if animals are affected the same by temperature changes such as this blazing heat? Almost all of the big animals were lounging around and I’m thinking this heat must be way too draining. ♀️ If you know the answer to this let me know!

“Fair’s fair, dude,” I said. “You bet me you’d sink more baskets, and you lost. Time to pay up.”
“Pay up how?” Mark looked confused. “You want money?”
I laughed. “No, monkey. I want your humanity.”
“How…” His voice trailed off as fur grew over his body, and he started to shrink. “Wait … what’s happening to me?”
“You lost,” I said. “You lost the contest, and you lost your humanity.”
He grunted in fear, staring at his body as it got smaller. A furry tail appeared over his gym shorts. “No … oook ook ook – please no!” he exclaimed. “Dude! I’m turning into a monkey!”
“You’ve always been a monkey,” I said, standing over him. His pants fell from his smaller, furry body, and he stared up at me with a dumb fearful expression as his ears got bigger and rounder. “You’ve always been a dumb little primate. Now you look the part.”

The gelada has two threat displays: it raises its eyebrows to display the pink skin underneath, and it pulls its lip over its face to turn itself into a terrifying long-toothed demon.
Yeah, I’d lead with the lip thing, mate.
Geladas are very odd monkeys. Close relatives of baboons, they live only in Ethiopian mountains, they’re covered in shaggy yellow hair, and they’re the only monkey that primarily eats grass. They are like a cross between a cow, Animal from the Muppets, and your nightmares.

This is a young Green Vervet Monkey at shipwreck beach today. These monkeys were brought to the island by colonists as pets a long time ago. They were eventually released, and now inhabit the island as a native species. It is awesome to see them here, but unfortunately, they are seen as pests by the locals and are often mistreated and used gimmicks for tourism.
