He set us a task: to write a story creating our own urban myth. The lesson ended with the boys walking around the classroom like zombies and the girls arguing over which was worse, clowns verses Slenderman. I left the classroom alone and no one noticed.

It’s another note on blue-green construction paper and it starts with a post script. My fingers tremble as I read it.

An adorable book about a boy called Simon who is gay but hasn’t told anyone- apart from Blue. An anonymous boy, also in the same position as him. They email constantly, only knowing they go to the same school, not each other’s identities. Amongst trying to work out who Blue is, Simon lives like a normal seventeen year old, with friends, clubs, going out for waffles and, of course, a crush. 5/5
