LIVE

reverie-quotes:

I’ll keep pretending to swim, when really all I’m doing is floating. Barely keeping my head above water.

— Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us

listentothestories:

“The world will tell you how to live, if you let it. Don’t let it. Take up your space. Raise your voice. Sing your song. This is your chance to make or remake a life that thrills you.”

— Shauna Niequist, Present Over Perfect

“Some things are more precious because they don’t last long.”

― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

wedge-of-words:

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

aquotecollection:

“If you aim to be something you are not, you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look and act and think like you. Aim to be the truest version of you. Embrace that you-ness. Endorse it. Love it. Work hard at it. And don’t give a second thought when people mock it or ridicule it. Most gossip is envy in disguise.”

— The Midnight Library, Matt Haig

jilyobsessed-bree:

“Be comforted, dear soul. There is always light after the clouds.”

— Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

“It means,” said Aslan, “that though the Witch knew the Deep Magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But if she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor’s stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards.”

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C S Lewis

Freedom. Freedom and Democracy. They are the things worth dying for. We must never, never stop resisting those who would take them from us. And when they have been taken we will fight until we get them back.

The act of resistance is our defining act as human beings. To say “No, I will not stand for that.” I will not colude, collaborate, negotiate, I will not compromise. To say to the enemies of freedom “You are wrong.” To resist, whatever the cost.

Handbagged, Moira Buffini

leatherbounded:

They say that nobody can define you but you.

Becky Chambers, fromThe Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet

reverie-quotes:

But the world is strange and endings are not truly endings no matter how the stars might wish it so.

— Erin Morgenstern, The Starless Sea

“they didn’t have to be a metaphor to matter.”

oh my god. yes. beauty doesn’t need to be defined through comparison sometimes. poetry, and metaphors, and humans with eyes like clear skies are fantastic. but, more beautiful i think are people. eyes a shade i’ve only seen on one face, and hands that can only fit so perfectly in another person’s.
