For macro monday here is a shot of a red trillium/wake robin growing among the mayapple on the family farm. This is also a reminder that this is a great time to be checking your woodlands in upstate New York for wildflowers. Taken 4/25/22.

One of my favorite places to visit and just relax in the winter time is Mendon Ponds Park in Honeoye Falls NY. The local black capped chickadee population was conditioned to feed from the hands of visitors over but other resident winter birds here will as well. In the start of this clip I’m feeding a male red breasted nuthatch and then feed a female downy woodpecker. While the nuthatches (both red and white breasted), chickadees, and tufted titmouse will feed from your hand quite readily the downy woodpeckers tend to be a little more suspicious. Taken 2/10/22.

Yesterday morning was my first outing this season in search of snowy owls so I was pretty stoked to see not 1 but 2 snowy owls! No such luck this morning though unfortunately.

I may or may not have woken my wife up at 4:30ish in the morning the day after a wedding in Pittsburgh for our drive home to Rochester. However I did so to make the pit stop that resulted in these images, and my first time seeing/photographing elk. Taken 11/6/21.
