Did you know Ace Merrill shows up again in another Stephen King story? In “Needful Things” he buys a map that supposedly shows several locations in Castle Rock where his uncle, Pop Merrill, buried his fortune before passing.
This weekend has been a quiet one with lots of relaxation and me time which is something I haven’t had in a while and did me a world of good.
On the Friday the weather was lovely and so Joe and I decided to go out for dinner at one of our favourite haunts Pizza Express. As it was really warm we sat outside with a big glass of wine and ate our dinner in the summer evening sunshine and it was wonderful. Sometimes it’s easy to get distracted after a long week when you get together and catch-up in front of the telly, but when you’re out enjoying dinner, just the two of you, there’s nothing to stand in the way of conversation and it’s a great way to re-connect with one another after a long week. Post-dinner we took a stroll and enjoyed another drink putting the world to rights before heading home for the evening both falling asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow – aren’t we a pair of old fogeys!
OnSaturday Joe had a stag do to go to and as my big girly night out plans had been cancelled last minute I decided to hunt down some new pyjamas (fries before guys!), chill a nice bottle of wine and have a bit of a pamper evening in front of the telly instead. Around midday my ASOS order arrived with some new bikinis inside that I’d picked up from the sale so I spent a good half an hour frolicking around the house in my new gear (popcorn two piece!!!) and longingly looking through the Thomson website…hoping I can convince Joe to book another holiday with me so I can wear my new bits! Super late to the party I discovered 90210 on Netflix for a bit of good old fashioned American teen drama, fixed myself some healthy but totally yummy food and a cocktail or two before scrubbing, buffing and oiling myself in the bath, sticking the rollers in and painting my nails which was all long overdue – welcome to pamper town, population me!
In the morning I got up, shot and editing some blog photos along with a little vlog for this weekend and tidied up the house for when Joe came home! As the sun was shining I fixed myself a naughty G&T and snuggled up with my new kindle book(Needful Things by Stephen King) which I have been dying to start all week! By the time Joe got back (in better shape than I’d expected!) it was nearly time to watch the football and head to bed once more.
Although this weekend wasn’t the weekend I had planned it turned out to be a pretty good one - productive and relaxing setting me up for the week ahead - I hope your weekend has been just as relaxing!
