This isn’t my type of post but Net Neutrality is so important.

Forget your page’s aesthetic, share this with everyone you know. Without Net Neutrality, the internet itself would change.

Companies would be able to charge websites if they want them to load faster than others on your computer. This means that they would purposefully bottleneck speeds on every website that doesn’t have the funding to pay for it faster speed. There’s NO reason for this. Are you a small business with a website and can’t afford to pay enough to get faster speeds? Too bad. Are you someone with a personal blog? Slow page loading. Do you want to view a website written by a nonprofit organization for your school project? You’ll have to wait until the page loads because, since they’re nonprofit, they can’t afford to pay enough to cable companies so that their page loads faster.

An alternative to this would be having to pay for faster internet. Internet service should be priced by usage, not speed. For home internet, unlimited use isn’t all that expensive so it’s really common. You wouldn’t want to pay extra for more speed.

This would possibly affect the way that the internet works on other devices such as your phone, gaming system, laptop, tablet, etc.

We NEED Net Neutrality.

If a company doesn’t agree with a specific website, they could purposefully limit traffic to their site. This would be censorship, something that nobody likes.

There are many other reason as to why you should protect Net Neutrality.

This is an issue whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, Left-wing, Right-wing, young, old, male, female, rich, poor, etc.

EVERYONE SHOULD ADVOCATE FOR NET NEUTRALITY.

^

Guys, also think about he wider costs. Every business, school, hospital, pharmacy, first responder, government service—every single one uses the Internet. So, yes, the individual user will pay more for access, but so will the institutional users. The thing is, the institutional users aren’t just going to eat the increase in costs. They will pass them on to the consumer. They always do.

Education, healthcare, every single product and service, plus your local, state, and Federal taxes, will all GO UP.

Losing net neutrality will affect the cost of every single product and service offered in this country. Every. Single. One.

Remember the last time the FCC nearly killed net neutrality?

Tumblr had this nice big banner at the top of your dashboard alerting any active user about the problem. Guess what has changed since then? Verizon, one of the companies gunning for the death of net neutrality owns yahoo who in turn own Tumblr. Spread the word, tell everyone you can: battleforthenet.com tag posts you see about net neutrality with popular tags so the news spreads.

the fact that nobody on my dash is talking about net neutrality is baffling like? if net neutrality is removed, IT WILL AFFECT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. the internet will no longer be free, just imagine having to pay a LOT of money to use websites and things like tumblr, google, twitter, youtube, facebook, amazon, instagram, snapchat, skype, discord, gaming services, ALL social media platforms, email, etc. it will completely demolish our internet freedom. imagine the poor artists, bloggers, photographers, and other content creators will be making things into a complete void where nobody will see anything because we wont be able to afford to. you will end up paying a ton of money for slower internet and far less privileges, IF you are able to afford it. we all lose big time with this and nobody seems to care.

call your senator!! this website has a script provided in case you dont know what to say

it’s sad that when net neutrality happened, there were even warnings from tumblr staff

and now that europe is in danger, no one talks about it. it’s complete silence.

Here’s the link to the petition, if you’re not coward anymore to support us. We’re so far away from 1M, and the times flies too fast.

sparots:

In case you haven’t heard about it, Article 13 was passed in Europe yesterday. Simply put this means that copyright is going absolutely crazy in Europe now, and content creators are fucked. The internet as we know it will change horribly.

So if you haven’t done anything yet, help by at least signing the petition and spread the news about this, because I feel Article 13 (and 11) have been completely ignored. We helped you with your Net Neutrality, now help us.

artistic-and-vague:

Who the hell do people think erasing net neutrality benefits?

Artists, poor people/families, schools, shops, stores, restaurants? Hell no.

IPSs? Sure for a little while until everybody becomes so sick of this bs and boycotts.

Amazon, Tumblr, Google, and other popular sites? Nope. Not in a million years. People would rather go to the store or make it themselves over paying a shit ton extra for the ACCESS to the sight.

The people behind this? You think there won’t be backlash?

Propoganda and oppression? Yep. If they can control the flow of information they will.

THIS IS A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS. INFORMATION SHOULD ALWAYS BE FREE

I’ve only been rebloging stuff until now on Net Neutrality, but I need to speak out myself about this.

How many of you are in college, planning to go to college, have graduated college, or heard about college?

Well we all know that college is not free! And most importantly, it’s considered a necessity to your financial path as most jobs now adays require a degree of some sorts.

And since the internet is where you email teachers, do lectures, classes, homework, I doubt colleges will stop doing online work. So the cost from losing Net Neutrality is just going to factor into your tuition.

Need to buy a textbook from a class?

Too bad you can’t load amazon and when you do, the shipping for the book is $15+ and the library copy is out.

Say good-bye to googling helpful research for projects, hello library books! Hopefully they have some books on your topic!

Need to email your teacher a question for that assignment you procrastinated on?

Well too bad! You’re email won’t load because you’re a poor college student! Looks like you’ll have to take a bad grade!

Are you needing to send your students a document for the upcoming test?

Too bad some of them didn’t buy the google package, so they won’t be able to see it anyway!

Need internet in general for online class takers or just regular students?

No problem! I guess we’ll just make college more expensive so every student can have a school owned laptop with fast lane internet so they can do the work!

I mean, not like college is expensive or anything. All those low income families can afford to be in debt for a decade or so longer!

Please, please, PLEASE speak out against this! Don’t let the topic be silenced!
