Fashion Picks for Summer 2013

There are many trends coming in and going out in Summer 2013, but here are some of my personal fashion picks and where you can find them - right on the high street.

1. Two piece suits - I am loving this trend that has hit our highstreets and it’s definately my favourite for this season, whether its a t-shirt or a blazer teamed with shorts, trousers or a skirt with matching patterns, you are sure to look fashion relevant this summer.

[Oasis Meadow Floral - Blazer £70, Trouser or Skirt £45]

2. Cut out leathers - Sandals to boots, this is a key look this season and I am loving it - it has come from the runway and is perfect for these summer nights ahead to wearing to festivals.

[Topshop ALADIN Gladiator strap £70, New Look Limited Ankle Boot £59.99]

3. Statement stripe - We saw it on the catwalks with Marc Jacobs and many more, but now it is our turn to wear this latest trend.

[Topshop stripe tee £40]

4. Graphic Print - Almost everybody did graphic print and it has hit the high street hard - it is everywhere, so I can guarentee you will be wearing this trend without even intending too this season!

[Topshop money print shirt - £40]

5. Retro Glasses - This John Lennon inspired style is really taking off this summer, go go go before they’re gone.

[New Look white round retro - £4.99, Topshop dark grey jeepers peepers £16]

6. Winged Clutch Bags - We’ve seen tote bags, from high end to high street in this style and it has become miniature, love it.

[New Look red and stone wing clutch £12.99]

Summer Wedding Highstreet Tips

Summer is the most popular time for lover to tie the knot, so I can imagine that it’s not only me that’s trying to pick out something gorgeous to wear to the big day, whether you are attending the actual ceremony or just the reception party; here are a few top picks of mine from the high street plus a few tips to help you whittle down decisions if you have many options.

TIP 1 - Biggest tip of all, not to wear white - off white or cream toned is fine but it’s the brides big day, all eyes on her!

TIP 2 - Stay conservative, it doesn’t matter if it’s 40 degrees outside - a wedding is not time to be acused of wearing skimpy clothes or anything that takes the attention off the bride, if you have to wear special underwear for it, don’t wear it.

TIP 3 - Don’t go casual, it can look careless and you want to show the couple you’ve made an effort for their big day

TIP 4 - Try to stay away from black, as black is mostly associated with sad occasions like funerals - if it’s mixed with another colour you may just get away with it. Black clothing also attracts the most heat and that sunshine is going to be out.

TIP 5 -Top colour tips from me - lighter colours always work, try pastle green, blue or purple. If you wanted to go darker, red, emerald and navy are also a good choice.

Fashion Trend - White

One of the biggest trends at the minute as we are approaching summer is WHITE. All White everything. We’ve seen it on the catwalk, the celebs have worn it on the red carpet and it’s available on the high street - but only if you wear it right! Here are my top picks from the high street to pull of this trend right now.

White blazers are going to be everywhere this summer, but to find one with the perfect fit can be hard. I tend to only buy my blazers from either Zara or H&M as the fit is much better than other high street retailers - but thats just my personal opinion. Here is a lovely fitted blazer available from H&Mfor£29.99 - with three quarter sleeves perfect for summer.

For Valentine’s this year, myself and my boyfriend went to Birmingham for the weekend to go and watch PARTYNEXTDOOR perform at the O2 Academy (highly recommend).

At the ripe age of 22 (almost 23), I still haven’t found ‘my styleLike most girls out there, I love feeling all pretty in pink and heels, but don’t get me wrong, casual and comfortable is what I’m really about! When Tobi emailed me asking to collaborate, I couldn’t resist – it was my chance to really put myself out there and step out my comfort zone.

Fashion photos aren’t really my forte, nor am I photogenic! I’m still finding my own way of taking outfit shots for now (definitely one of my goals for 2019)!

Tobi is an online-only fashion boutique based in Los Angeles but they ship to over 150 countries worldwide! From dainty, elegant pieces to cute and casual, Tobi has an amazing range of clothes for a good price.

This Valentine’s I wore the Half Thought Sweater Dress* in Rose, paired with my favourite over the knee boots from New Look. The dress is exactly as I expected which is one of the biggest issues people face when ordering online.

As a shortie at only 5ft 3, finding dresses (in particular, jumper dresses) that don’t come below the knee is a pretty tough job! However, I found that this sweater dress came just above my knees – it didn’t meet my boots!

I tied a belt around my waist to bring the dress in a bit and rolled up the sleeves to make it look more fitted (and to show off my watch, of course) – just a personal preference! It also dons cold shoulders and a high neck collar which is perfect for the British weather!

What did you do for Valentine’s Day?! Tell me all about it!

I recently had a day out with my mum and nan at Southport, a seaside town in the North West. While there I, of course, had a browse in the shops and I may or may not have bought quite a few bits ready for my new year at University. Although I primarily bought items in Primark, there were a couple of bits from Debenhams, New Look and Peacockss as well.

Debenhams;

I bought a comfy maroon coloured cardigan-shawl thing which I figured would be so good to have while away at University when it starts to cool down for Autumn. It was a bargain at about £6.75 and like I said earlier, it is super comfy and I’m excited for the cooler months to start.

I also bought a pair of light pink velvet heels which are Dorothy Perkins and I dropped on with these as they were the only pair of these left and luckily enough they were in my size! They’re a perfect match for a dress I bought in New Look last year and I couldn’t say no to them, especially at the price of £10.

New Look;

I finally got my hands on a faux leather jacket in a gorgeous pale pink colour. I had my eye on this for a while and when I went into the store -originally looking for boots- I came across this in the sale rack. I’m excited to be able to wear this with so many different outfits I have already planned! Once again, another bargain as it cost me only £12, an enormous decrease from the original £40.

FullSizeRender-6

Primark;

I got my hands on a burgundy pinafore and it looks so cute, I’m excited to style it during the autumn months when it gets a bit colder and tights and boots return into season and it cost me just £12.

I finally bought some boots as well, after looking around for a few weeks I have been on the hunt for some boots ready for university and I managed to find two pairs! A pair of flat ankle boots and a pair of flat, over the knee boots, both in black. The ankle boots I believe where around £8-£10 I think (I can’t find the receipt!) and the over the knee boots cost me £18, an overall bargain.

Some other boring bits include me picking up a pair of plain black leggings because some how I have managed to lose my others and they cost me like £2.50, and I bought a pair of simple high waister skinny jeans in a dark blue for £9.

(Little updated addition) Peacocks;

On another little shopping trip I went into Peacocks and picked up two scarves and a winter beret style hat. If you’re on the look out for these kind of items for the upcoming months I’d definitely encourage you to try your nearest peacocks as each if these items cost 50p and you never know what bargains you might pick up!

That’s all from me, unfortunately I didn’t manage to get a photo of some items before they’ve been packed up ready for Uni but hopefully I’ll be able to show you some time in the near future!

XO K
