#but important
I think a common misconception is that lesbian, gay, bisexual are “neat little boxes” that a lot of people don’t fit into but that’s not the case. Each label encapsulates a lot of different experiences and approaches to attraction. A lesbian that doesn’t want sex is still a lesbian, a bi person who struggles to tell the difference between platonic, romantic and sexual feelings which differs or doesn’t differ according to gender can still be bi. A gay man who isn’t all that interested in dating is still gay. These are not limiting labels and not every person who uses an lgb label feels exactly the same about attraction.
if you believe that lgb labels are close minded, exclusionary, or somehow not enough than you don’t understand how these identities work and what lesbian, gay, and bisexual mean. that is on you to educate yourself, not on us to reinvent our words or create new ones to encompass experiences that were already fully included. full stop.
Since I haven’t seen any mention of it yet, except on twitter, i’d also like to remind everyone that not only is June LGBT pride month, but it’s also Indigenous History month!
Please take the time to support, uplift and remember your Native, First Nations, Aboriginal and otherwise Indigenous friends and family. We are here, we exist! We have a long and winding history that deserves to be heard and respected! The word ‘Indigenous’ is so wonderful, and so expansive, and includes so many different cultures under its arms. Go out, learn about our histories and our cultures. Talk to the Indigenous people around you! We’re everywhere!
And not only that, but also be sure to give extra support to LGBT indigenous voices in this community. We are a minority that is scarcely acknowledged, and in desperate need of it. Too many times have I gotten strange looks for being so openly Native and so openly a lesbian. It’s as if that combination is impossible for people to understand. Support our content, buy from our stores! Or at least just include us!
I’d like to wish a happy LGBT pride month, and a happy Indigenous History month to everyone, but especially us LGBT Native folks. This really is our month to be open about ourselves, and I sure intend to. ️
Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI)
During the month of May 2019, Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI), our all-volunteer nonprofit organization rescued 62 starving California sea lion pups and we are in a crisis situation providing medical and rehabilitation care for these animals. We continue to rescue more starving pups each day. We urgently need fish to fill our freezer so we can nurse these animals back to health and return them to the wild. Fish costs $1 a pound. Our goal is to raise $22,000.CIMWI a 501©(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting conservation through marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, research and education to promote ocean and human health. CIMWI serves Santa Barbara & Ventura counties in Southern California.
They rescue elephant seal pups too. These babies were rehabilitated and released just two days ago!
If you can help donate, here is the link for CIMWI’s donation page
If you don’t have any funds to spare but can spread the word that is helpful too!

Taking a side trip for a minute to acknowledge what’s happening in the US.. The way people of color are treated in this country is heinous. I feel ashamed of my demographic and the oppression we’ve created and continue to cultivate. Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd are just the latest examples of the racism that is thriving in this country. They deserved better. We need to do better.
If you feel the same way, there are things you can do to help. You can donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund or George Floyd’s GoFundMe. If you can’t donate you can call Minnesota’s governor and attorney general, asking for justice for his death.

PC culture isn’t killing Halloween or humor, you’re just a vapid vacuous nonentity whose two remaining neurons can’t garner enough energy to spark a singular remarkable thought. You aren’t edgy for “insulting snowflakes”. You’re the human equivalent of finding dog feces on your shoe - unfortunately all too common with a nauseating effect that one doesnt wish to invite into their home.
Do better. It really isn’t that difficult.
