“Public libraries are such important, lovely places!” Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

If this post persuades even one person to get a free library account and use it, my time on this hellsite will not have been spent in vain

We Must end the reylo fanfiction to shitty YA book pipeline

what truly drives me mad is that with big accounts on tiktok (and subsequently instagram) they’re like literally ALL trying to sell you something. which makes sense because those big accounts make their money by endorsing something - influencing, if you will - but i do miss the days where things were just fucking, like. you need a grocery list? use the back of a cut up recycled cereal box, not some expensive notepad. or exercise by putting on a pair of sneakers and running up some hills. go to a thrift shop instead of amazon. put a baby in a simple crib instead of one that shakes around and plays music. idk. just … simplicity? i miss that shit. every single human action and emotion seems like it needs a companion product now

my girl ❤️

there is nothing like the high of having a plot just EXPLODE in your head and you’re really excited and you know it’s going to be a blast to write and just!! this is so exciting!!!

I think a lot about Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. It was started by an average woman, Shannon Watts, when she couldn’t take political inaction anymore after Sandy Hook. She started a Facebook group, which grew. She and other volunteers have been doing the grueling, slow grassroots work of showing up at town halls, state capitols, knocking on doors, and encouraging voting in order to both block Republicans from passing even worse laws (such as allowing firearms in daycares) and to vote in Democrats who will pass gun control. Some members of the group have run for office, too.

The main force fighting against the gun lobby for the past decade has been a bunch of winemoms, not cosplay revolutionaries who think they’re radical for having a hammer and sickle in their profile picture and who find every excuse under the sun to refuse doing the most basic form of civic engagement, voting. These liberal women haven’t given up even after too many slaughters to count, while online edgelords constantly yell that they won’t vote because they haven’t instantly been given everything they want. These moms have done more for our society than these insufferable, wannabe radicals ever will.

Winemoms were what drove the introduction of real consequences for drunk driving too, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.

Yes, I believe Watts was inspired by the mothers at the center of the anti-drunk driving movement to create Moms Demand. ~Cringe winemoms~ have fought for public safety for decades
