“What do you have to say for yourself?” Lucifer prodded. “You’ve been acting strange for a week now. You fell asleep in the mirror maze causing a scene, you don’t even show up to classes and now THIS?”

Belphie said nothing. He stared ahead at the big painting behind Lucifer. It was all the brothers and you standing in the middle.

Beel stood by, ready to protect his twin if Lucifer lost his temper and tried to hurt him. Even he had noted Belphie’s difference but no matter how many times he asked about it, Belphie went quiet and simply dozed off to sleep again.

“I NEED AN ANSWER BELPHIE! This sort of behavior cannot be tolerated any longer!”

Lucifer banged the table with his fist. There was an audible creaking of wood splinters.

Belphie couldn’t answer. On the painting before him now, he saw a shadowy hand move. It moved around until it found you.

It stopped right under your face, the dark fingers twitching before wrapping themselves around your throat. You remained unmoving in the picture but he heard someone cough.

He looked around. Neither Lucifer nor Beel did it. Then who? The sound never stopped. It kept growing louder…until he recognised it was you. Your face in the picture was turning blue.

“Lucifer! Out of the way now!”

Belphie leapt up and snatched the picture of the walls. He growled, “Get lost! Get away, you little- URGHHHH!”

His fingers tried to scratch the shadowy hands off your neck, but it kept moving around now and by the time Belphie was done, he realised he had scratched out your entire face.

Lucifer and Beel were to stunned to react. All they saw was Belphie violently scratching out your face from their family picture. It left a dreadful impression on them.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Things got worse as Mammon and Satan appeared in the doorway, along with you in the middle.

“Hey guys, Simeon just said that the set is ready so we can go and-” You stopped in your tracks. You saw what lay on the floor.

And it seemed like bad news no matter how you looked at it.

You took steps backward, hiding behind both Mammon and Satan. “If you want me gone, you can just say so…” You said.

“No MC, this isn’t what it looks like-” Belphie had the gall to get up and reach for your hand.

“Hands off. Don’t dare touch, MC.” Mammon was the first to slap it away. When was the last time anyone had seen Mammon this angry?

Satan simply glared at him before ushering you out of the room. The first priority was to keep you safe and away from him.

“MC are you okay? You’re trembling.”

“Thank you, Satan. I’ll be okay. I’m okay.” You were more than okay. You were trembling with sheer excitement of seeing on his knees, eyes pleading.

The hurt and lost eyes who don’t know where to look anymore as his brothers antagonize him for nothing, one by one. The same eyes you had when you died.

“Let’s get outta here. They’ll come if they want.” Mammon said, bolting out the door next. They accompanied you diligently to R.A.D.

“Go back to the attic. And don’t step out until I ask you to.” Lucifer’s eyes could barely hold back all the rage he felt.

“Beel you are welcome to join him. But if you dare letting him out… you’ll be making the wrong choice again.”

Belphie looked horrified. “I was trying to protect them! I heard them coughing and I saw something on this picture right here near Lilith’s neck-”

“MC.” Beel finally spoke up. “MC, not Lilith. Stop that already. MC gets sad when you call them Lilith.”

“Sorry… sorry yeah… I meant MC-”

“I’ve been by your side no matter what, Belphie. But I cannot let you hurt MC, anymore. Please stop it already.” Beel let out a tired sigh, leaving out the door. Lucifer left too, slamming the door behind him.

Belphie stood there bewildered. An emptiness and dread filled inside of him. For the the first time since you came here, he felt truly alone.

He should have told them. He should have told them everything.

How your reflection turned into Lilith’s and stared at him with crazed eyes. How he’s been seeing glimpses of Lilith’s face on yours everywhere. How in Levi’s room, all those little figurines started moving and whispering horrible things to him.

You lost her. And then killed whatever was left of her. She loved you, but you only hurt her. You hurt both of them. So they’re going away.”

He heard it in his head, every other waking moment. And it was driving him crazy. But how was he supposed to explain this to anyone, anyone at all?

You, maybe you would. But you were scared of him now. Compliant but scared and distant. But who else could he blame for it except himself?

.

.

“I heard what happened at the house today.” Solomon said, once you both were in a secluded corner.

“Atleast we know that our illusion skills are improving.” You said nonchalantly. “Wanna see something funny? Look there.”

“Over there? Where Lucifer seems to be wagging his finger at Mammon?” Solomon followed your gaze.

“Yes watch this.” A couple of RAD students were hauling spare wood planks. The carpet Lucifer stood on suddenly snagged on it, and Lucifer fell on his ass. Mammon and Diavolo laughed as they helped him up.

“Wow. He could usually avoid pranks that, he’s terribly shaken on the inside. Bravo, MC.” Solomon clapped a little before looking concerned. “Wait… MC your horns are showing.”

You touched your head. No not there. Solomon was pointing at the big shadow you cast. Two talk horns rested on your head there.

“Shit. Ugh I guess I can’t just use magic Willy nilly anymore because a large part of it goes into keeping these hidden. What a pain-”

Crash. Crack. Splash.

You and Solomon looked to the source of the sound. A broken plate of cookies and tea lay on the floor. And above it stood, Luke.

His mouth gaped as his hands shakily pointed towards your shadow. “M-MC…?”

Shit.

Levi’s screams echoed throughout the house. Lucifer could hear it from the sound-resistant music room. He rushed upstairs calling out his name.

“Levi?! Leviathan what’s wrong?!” He grit his teeth. He’d never screamed this way - was he attacked somehow?

He saw Asmo, Satan and you standing at the doorway looking horrified. “What has happened to him?”

“I- Belphie- he just, he just-” You stuttered, scared out of your wits, pointed inside the room.

Inside was an absolute mess. Like a hurricane had passed by, leaving destruction in its wake. And within all that mess, was Levi trying to strike, his demon form bigger than ever before. His teeth turned long and sharp, blue scales covering half of his face instead just his neck.

Mammon grit his teeth, doing his best to hold him back away. “Levi come to your senses! He’s just our younger brother!” But even Mammon had multiple cuts on his arms, from Levi trying to resist.

And the person Levi was trying to attack was none other than Belphie, who sat on the floor casually breaking off Levi’s Ruri-chan figurines by the neck. He had a haunted, faraway look in his eyes.

“Belphie, stop already! Why are you doing this?!” Beel was trying to coax him to stop, trying to pry the figurines from Belphie’s hands. But the moment Beel took one, Belphie found another and started breaking that instead. The floor was littered with broken Ruri-chan heads along with other fractured characters.

Lucifer walked inside carefully, trying not to crush them with his feet.

“I don’t know if things will get better or worse if we step in. What should we do, Satan?” Asmo bit down on his manicured nails.

“I’m taking MC to their room. Clearly this is distrubing them deeply.” Satan couldn’t bring himself to care about any of them anyway. All he cared about was you trembling next to him. He wrapped an arm around you. “Let’s leave, MC.”

“WHY?! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PROTECT HIM?!” Levi’s screamed. “HE’S THE ONE WHO BARGED IN WITHOUT A WORD AND STARTED DOING THIS! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY HE’S BROKEN SO FAR?!”

Lucifer tried but somehow made the situation worse. “Calm down, Levi. We can replace whatever he’s broken for you, there’s no need to-”

“NO! NO YOU CAN’T JUST REPLACE EVERYTHING LUCIFER!” Levi continued, thrashing in Mammon’s and Lucifer’s combined grasp now.

“WHEN YOU ALL HAD EACH OTHER, I HAD THEM! I ONLY HAD THEM!”

Levi stopped moving now, becoming deathly calm. His eyes burning ice cold.

“When we fell, you became Diavolo’s little pet, Mammon and Asmo were featuring in fucking magazines, being called to parties even though one whores around for money and the other for validation. And Belphie and Beel, well they always had EACH OTHER, not having to give a damn about anyone else. Tell me Lucifer, WHAT did I have? WHO DID I HAVE?!”

Everyone looked at him shocked beyond comprehension. Except Belphie, whose hands were now locked in place thanks to Beel and whose eyes were staring blankly at you instead.

Satan noticed he wasn’t even mentioned. “Tch~” He hissed to himself for even caring.

“Levi…we never meant to make you feel like this.” Mammon was the one who recovered first. He tried to turn Levi towards him. “Hey look at me-”

“No fuck you!” Levi pushed him off. The cuts on Mammon’s arms began to bleed through the jacket. Lucifer’s eyes grew wide when he noticed.

“Mammon, leave. Right now. Go to MC and ask them to heal your wounds.” Lucifer said quietly. Mammon hesitated not wanting to leave things in this state. “I said NOW, Mammon.”

Levi let out a strange laugh. “See?! See Mammon! Even Lucifer prefers you over me! You’re a degenerate gambler but he still cares more about you look-”

SLAP!

Lucifer’s hand trembled. Levi was on the floor, his cheek tainted blood red. You had never seen Lucifer raise a hand to any of his brothers.

“Mammon, no.” You held him back as he tried to sprint back in again. Your small hands wrapped tenderly around his arms, whispering spells. He stayed when he saw how scared you looked.

Shit you didn’t think it would get this bad.

Satan leaned against the corridor right behind you. He could help them if he wanted, but he didn’t care, not one bit . Asmo didn’t realise he bit three of nails, he stood frozen by the doorway, paralyzed by fear.

“You didn’t say a word to Belphie when he literally killed MC in front of our eyes.” Levi’s eyes glimmered with angry tears. “But you hit me because I got upset at him for breaking things precious to me.”

Your eyes darted to him when he said that. How dare he say that? How dare he when he did nothing either?

Beel knelt to the floor in apology, bowing his head to Levi. He was so confused and overwhelmed by everything but this is all he could think of.

“I’m sorry about everything, Levi. Belphie has been acting strange all morning, I should have never let him out of my sight. It’s all my fault. I had no idea he would-”

“It IS your fault. You sacrificed Lilith for this piece of shit twin of yours.”

“Levi no!” Asmo finally spoke up.

“Do you think noone saw? I saw it Beel. I saw everything. Lilith was already wounded, Belphie wasn’t. Even if you didn’t saved him, he would have lived.”

“Levi shut your mouth.” Lucifer warned. “Beel take Belphie and leave.”

“You did the same with MC, Beel. You let MC die the same way. By taking Belphie’s side instead of being saving someone who NEEDED to be saved. YOU LET BELPHIE KILL MC! YOU LET MC AND LILITH DIE!”

Levi screamed with all his had and then broke down into violent sobs.

“I’m…sorry. I’m sorry, Levi.” Beel said. “I’ll get him out of here.” Beel lifted up his twin, who had somehow fallen asleep in the middle of it all. Unbelievable.

Lucifer let out a tired sigh and left the room. “Mammon, don’t even think of going in there. I’m sorry you had to hear all of that …MC.”

“I’m okay.” You lied. You were fantastic.

Mammon tried to argue and go back in for Levi, but Lucifer dragged him off along with Asmo. Satan draped an arm around you, “Let’s get going, MC.”

“You go ahead, I’ll come soon. I just need some time to…process all this.” You said, reassuring him. “Pick out some books for us at the library won’t you?”

He nodded and walked you to the staircase. “Be careful. I’ll be back soon.”

You watched him walk out the door and headed back to Levi’s room. You scooped all the dismembered heads and limbs you could find and put it in a neat little heap.

Levi didn’t see you until you stood directly before him, his vision blurry from tears. He saw you kneeling down, looking back at him.

“Does it hurt?” You gently touched the red skin Lucifer had hurt. “I’m so sorry.”

Levi didn’t think twice. He promptly threw his arms around you and sobbed into your shoulder, holding onto you for dear life.

You patted his head. You know what you had in mind would break him to the point of no return. You let me die too, Levi.

TW: Violence, Slight gore

“Let’s go there next! Hall of Mirrored Selves!” You pointed excitedly. This was a last exursion before everyone would get busy preparing for the play. You decided to go to a carnival.

“Eh? A mirror maze? Come on MC, we’ve been to these plenty of times in the human world.” Belphie yawned, readjusted the pillow in his arms.

“It actually might be worth checking out. This one seems to be enchanted.” Satan was peering down at the description written on a wall outside it. “See the truth through the eyes of the beholder at the end of the journey.”

“Hmm does that mean our reflections will change depending on who’s seeing us in the last mirror? Hmm seems safe enough.” Lucifer agreed. “Let’s get going then.”

“Hmm it couldn’t be worse than Asmo and Levi screaming on the rollercoaster clutching onto Mammon and Beel for dear life.” Belphie smirked as he followed everyone else inside.

The mirror maze was easy enough to figure out. Satan and Belphie conspired to confuse Lucifer by scattering random similar looking objects they could find on the floors.

Lucifer didn’t fall for a single one, while Belphie got lost instead. Satan guided you forward but Lucifer had to go back to fetch Belphie who gave up trying and started taking a nap against one of the mirrors.

“I have to admit, this is rather nice.” Satan took your hand, when he noticed you both were alone. “Let’s go together shall we? I’m holding you because I want to make sure you don’t get lost.”

“Of course. Thank you Satan.” You almost wanted to spare him. He was being a sweetheart after all. But it was too late for that.

“Yes I think we’re on the right track, just a another left turn and straight on like this- Satan? You okay?” You were navigating along with him when he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

“Is that the last mirror, MC?”

Satan’s voice was deadly low. He pointed leftwards. You nodded your head.

“And it’s supposed to show you how everyone else sees you?”

“Not everyone at once of course! If you stand in the mirror with someone it shows you how they see you I think.”

“Stay here for a bit, will you MC? I just need to check something.” He lets go of your hand and moves forward.

You stay back. You already know what he’s going to see.

Satan already noticed Lucifer and Belphie heading this way. He angled himself in a way that he could see their reflections in the mirror with him.

“I knew it. I fucking knew it.”

You heard a low growl followed by a CRASHHHH.You hurried over to his side careful not to come directly in front of the mirror.

Satan’s hand was inches deep in the middle of the now cracked mirror. He’d punched the glass in. And you saw why.

The cracked and splintered glass reflected black hair instead of blonde. Red and black clothes instead of blue and green. Red eyes instead of green. Lucifer’s face instead of his own.

His biggest nightmare glaring right back at his face.

“Hey…hey, it’s okay.” You said softly as you came into the frame too. His shoulders relaxed, his eyes softening down again. “I’m here now.”

The reflection was not Lucifer anymore. It was him, with his fist on the glass and persisting rage in his eyes. The realest version of him.

In a world without you, he would have burnt this place to the ground with both Lucifer and Belphie in it. Yes, Belphie too. Because clearly he too saw him as Lucifer’s clone.

But as you stood next to him, he saw your hand in the mirror reaching for his, pulling him back. Tending to his wounds. Atleast you saw him for him. Right now that was enough.

“I’m so sorry. I never should have brought you here.” You blowed air on his bleeding knuckles, making him stand away from the broken glass shards on the floor.

“No. It’s okay, MC. I’m glad to finally confirm the truth for once.” His voice had bitterness and relief at the same time.

“I’m so sorry Satan I- AHHHHH!”

You jumped back, staring at the mirror in horror. There was no you. There was a twisted and cracked face of Lilith. Her body but with your clothes. A set of bloody fingerprints around her neck. Bruises over her arms.

Identical to the injuries Belphie inflicted on you that night.

Satan noticed it too. He also noticed Lucifer dragging a sleeping Belphie in the distance. So this is how they saw you? Pathetic. Absolutely delusional.

“Shhh it’s okay. I’m here too. You’re not whatever that abomination is.”

Your reflection turned right the moment he walked into the frame. Your eyes glistening with unshed tears. Satan wrapping his arms around you protectively.

This was you and him. The only two people who saw each other for what they truly are.

His heart had turned cold against his brothers for good. If Belphie and Lucifer saw him that way, the others who openly and blantantly made jokes about it were probably worse.

“Let’s get out of here, Satan.”

Noone wanted it more than him. Never mind the others. They can go to hell. It was unsaid but you both understood it.

You left the maze, his wounded hand on your waist. Your eyes still glistened almost as if you didn’t plan this whole thing meticulously. Comforting him as if you didn’t manipulate each reflection to your will.

And when Satan shut himself up in his room, refusing to talk to anyone but you, only going to meals after his brothers were long finished and gone, you sat there with an agonized look on your face - as if this wasn’t EXACTLY what you wanted.

… .

… .

“Your time is up, Diavolo. Choose. Your life or his? Choose or you both die.” Your voice echoed in the empty room.

Diavolo’s head hung low as he sat still in his chair, magical chains keeping him locked in his place.

Lucifer sat unconscious sitting in the chair opposite to him. His body tied identically to Diavolo’s.

A long black sword hung in the air, suspended between them. The demon blade, the only weapon strong enough to kill a demon with one hit.

“Young Master, No! No you don’t have to do this!” Barbatos screamed in vain. He was sitting in a movie hall, watching it all happen on screen.

“Shhh Barbatos. I never guessed you’d be the loud type at movies. Just sit tight won’t you?” Solomon sat next to him, eating popcorn.

Barbatos tried to move, but he locked in place. Bound by his pact with Solomon. And Solomon was on MC’s side. “But Young Master he’s going to- he’s going to-”

“You did nothing when you knew Belphie was going to kill MC. Why is this so hard?” Solomon said nonchalantly, voice laid with venom.

“I chose me. Take my life. Spare him, please.” Diavolo’s voice was desperate. “He’s been through enough hurt.”

“Very well.” You smiled, finally coming into frame, right underneath the blade.

You reached for it and it fluttered downwards like an obedient child. You didn’t even need to touch it. You simply motioned at the Prince.

Diavolo smiled looking directly at Barbatos through the screen. “Thank you for everything, Barbatos. As a last request, please avert your eyes from the screen.”

“Young Master- No- no-” Barbatos struggled in vain. Even with his demon form unleashed, his tail did nothing. It couldn’t even touch Solomon nor reach MC.

Slash.

The sickening sound of metal cutting through skin and bone. Barbatos saw a hazy outline of Diavolo’s heart being pierced straight through through tear-brimmed eyes.

“DIAVOLO!”

He screamed louder than he ever had. But Diavolo stayed unmoving. Only you moved forward, closer and closer until your face completely filled the screen.

“This is what happens if you tell anyone about me. So…shhhh, okay?”

You pressed a dainty finger to your slightly smiling lips. Solomon clapped and cheered next to him. “My my, that a was good show wasn’t it? I guess you can wake up now. The exit is that way.”

Barbatos woke up in cold sweat. Again. He already agreed to keep their secret - why were they still threatening him? And why do the images get more vivid every time?

He glanced at the clock. 5 a.m. A dream at dawn.

According to some human cultures, dreams dreamt at dawn are very likely to come true. A threat within a threat. Did you just like tormenting him that much?

Is this how much pain they caused you?

Barbatos knew the answer. And shivers ran down his back realising you were still being merciful.

“Are you sure you shouldn’t just stay at the house today?” Solomon said on the phone. “Things are already getting heated as it is.”

“Has someone come to threaten you yet?” You brushed out your hair nonchalantly, admiring your horns. How are they going to react to it? Their horrified faces will be worth the wait.

“Actually you know what? You’re right. I want to stick around today. See what’s been happening. In fact, you should come too, Solomon.”

You could hear him smirk. Even he couldn’t pass up an opportunity to witness the brothers’ shenanigans.

“I’ll be there shortly.” He hung up and you tossed the phone and walked to the common room.

“MC! You’re home today?!” Mammon wiggled around, suspended upside down in the air. “Help me down will ya?”

You didn’t say a word. You simply stared at him. Staring as if you’re suprised how he ended up there. Do you recognise this stare, Mammon?

“Oi MC?! Can you not hear me?! Oi!” Mammon suddenly felt the ropes on him grow tighter, pulling him higher. “Shit, what did Lucifer do to these?! MC seriously can you loosen these up?”

You stood there idly, your eyes never leaving his. Mammon felt an odd sense of dread. Did your eyes always look like that? “MC…”

“Oh don’t bother helping him, MC! He really crossed his limits this time! He stole from all of us at once! Even you, MC!”

You turned around to see Asmo walk in. He draped his arms around you and pulled you away from his brother.

“I didn’t take shit! And you found those things where they were supposed to be just a day later! Why won’t you believe me?!”

Mammon’s ropes came loose all at once and then ripped into shreds. He fell comically on the floor and rubbed his dizzy head.

“You should go sit down, Mammon.” You helped him off the floor. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, instantly asleep.

“What reason is there to suspect him if the stolen things were found, Asmo?” You turned your eyes towards the younger brother.

“Well maybe it’s to incur praises and rewards! It’s Mammon after all, what else can we expect?! You should have seen Levi, he summoned Lotan cause his favourite Ruri figure had gone missing!” Asmo waved his hand around dismissively.

“If we don’t know what actually happened, then there is a probability”, you put a hand tenderly on his face, “that you simply misplaced those things and blamed your own forgetfulness on Mammon too, isn’t that right?”

Asmo felt bashful at your sudden proximity and leaned in even closer. “Oh MC, you know me too well to doubt me like this!”

“Then you wouldn’t mind if I break your head in half and take a peek at your memories inside?”

Asmo’s eyes widened. He heard your voice loud and clear in his head…yet your lips didn’t move. You hadn’t said a thing.

You simply nodded and moved away. And yet Asmo felt a burning chill at the roots of his hair. Like a sharp tug, threatening to rip his skin off his skull. It was only once - yet it lingered.

“Ahhhhh!” Asmo’s squealed and fell back on the couch, rapidly scratching at his scalp, his long nails surely scraping parts of it off.

“Itchy is it? I’ll help.” You sank your fingers in his hair and his eyes closed on his own, his head lulling to the side, right on Mammon’s shoulder.

“So this is the real reason you asked me to keep you away.” Solomon clicked his tongue looking at the sleeping demons. “Because you can barely help your rage around them.”

“Just do what you need to do, please.” You clenched your fists and walked back towards the staircase.

“Your magical traces are all over the place. You really did a number on them, MC.”

“I merely returned the favors I owed them.” You said softly. “Come to my room after you’re done. I’ll show you how I did it.”

Solomon nodded and cast his memory spells on them. When they’d wake up - it would all be a faraway dream, too absurd to be true.

“Satan, you’re here.” Simeon greeted him in Diavolo’s garden.

“Indeed. I heard MC made an amazing suggestion for the school play. Are you writing the script for it?” Satan asked, taking an empty seat.

“Quite the opposite actually. We are simply writing prompts.” Diavolo answered.

“Prompts? What is this play even about?” Satan asked.

Barbatos put down his cup. “An improv based on the story of the House of Lamentation.”

“Diavolo? Lucifer? You there?”

Your voice alarmed Barbatos. He saw you peeking into the council room with an innocent smile on your face. How many terrible intentions did that smile hide…?

“Ah MC is here! Come on in!” Diavolo called cheerily, patting the seat next to him. Lucifer also gave you a warm smile.

“Look I got a perfect score in Seductive Speechcraft!” You held up your graded report, waving it around as you entered.

Barbatos’ eyes followed you cautiously. You gave his shoulder a little squeeze and bent down to whisper to him. “Don’t worry. I won’t hurt your precious master. I promised didn’t I?”

You say that right after showing your score in speechcraft? Is this a warning or a taunt?

“Congratulations, MC. That makes you the only other person to get the perfect score in speechcraft.” Lucifer says, nodding approvingly.

“Oh? Who was the first one?” You asked, tilted your head to the side.

“Lucifer, of course!” Diavolo gestured with gusto towards an blushing Lucifer who tried to stop him from embarrassing him further.

“Can you also tell if someone is using it on you?” You prodded further. Barbatos was puzzled by this line of questioning.

“Indeed. I can always tell. One must be cautious around enchanted persuasion. In fact,” Lucifer half-smiled as he reached for some paper next to you, “You should be careful yourself.”

Only you knew how much strength it took to not start laughing in his face. Pride indeed. What a suitable sin for his over inflated ego.

“Thank you, Lucifer. I’ll keep that in mind.” You smiled as you arranged your share of accounts to compile. “Oh! I almost forgot! I have an idea for the annual school play!”

“Finally! Thank you, MC.” Diavolo looked relieved. “I asked the brothers for advice too but they came up with rather strange concepts of live heists, cosplay rom-com, lingerie photoshoot and competitive eating and sleeping.”

“Each one of them is getting more ridiculous day by day.” Lucifer pinched the bridge of his nose. “Just last night Satan suggested we do some musical from the human world called ‘Cats’. I was appalled by the movie he showed me.”

You stifled a laugh. “Well they always do suggest whatever they like most. But I hope my suggestion won’t be too much.”

“Oh please, MC. You’re the only sensible in that mad house. Please go ahead. Even your worst idea will be twenty times more reasonable than theirs.” Lucifer urged.

You glanced at Barbatos. And he finally looked away from you. From here on, he wasn’t supposed to interfere.

“I take it from the smile on your face, they loved the idea.” Solomon waited for you by the R.A.D gates.

You nodded. “Diavolo already sent the itinerary to the school newspaper club to set the word. Its as good as done.”

“Well then what’s next?”

“Ah the next task is easier. You have to keep me busy for the next two weeks.”

Solomon furrowed his brow. “Busy? How?”

“Call me out for some plan or the other. Going shopping or flower picking for your potions? Ask me to come along. Read about a new spell you liked? Ask to teach me. And on weekends you can suggest sleepovers.”

“I have to keep you away from them don’t I? You want to stay out of their house. Well then you must be prepared to save me from the brothers’ anger.”

You fiddled your fingers as if you were holding strings. Strings that hold and make the puppets dance. “What else are these pacts for?”

“I still can’t believe you managed to convince Barbatos to keep your secret. What hold do you have on him?”

You shrugged as you walked on. “I didn’t threaten him per se. I guess he noticed he couldn’t find anymore versions of me he could replace me with.”

“Why wouldn’t he able to- wait you couldn’t possibly break all the-” Solomon couldn’t even comprehend such a thing.

“I could actually. I broke the links to every alternate timeline where Belphie didn’t kill me. So the only versions of me he’ll find are already six feet under. Isn’t it hilarious?!”

You chuckled and skipped in glee, clapping your hands together like a child getting excited about their first ever road trip.

“Good morning, guys!” Your cheerful morning greeting hadn’t changed a bit. It used to be a natural reaction, now it was a rehearsed line in a play.

The usual morning bickering stopped as you took your seat. They all looked at you gleefully, returning your greeting in their ways.

“Oh MC darling, you’re glowing today! Did you change your night time routine?” Asmo reached out to touch your cheek.

Mammon slapped his hand away. “Oi! Stop trying to touch my human first thing in the morning!”

“How many more times do we have to tell MC doesn’t belong to you!?” Satan sighed.

“MC, look we made a combination dish of human world and Devildom food, would you like to try it? It’s okay, I’ll feed you.” Beel offered you some curried vegetable on his fork.

“Oi Levi, could you switch seats with me? I’m tired, I need to sleep on MC’s shoulder.” Belphie poked Levi.

“Absolutely not! It’s my turn to sit next to MC! And I need to tell them all about the new update patch in Soulfarer!” Levi furrowed his eyes.

You laughed. They were all so distinct and predictable in their own ways, it was adorable. Very soon it would be Lucifer’s turn. You counted the seconds.

3…2…1…

“SILENCE!” Lucifer banged the table with his fist. The plates and cutlery rattled in response. “Can you all not behave for one godamn morning?”

“What’s gotten you pressed this morning? Diavolo cut the call too early last night?” Satan smirked, glancing at you.

You and Belphie gave him a secret thumbs-up. The rest of supressed their laughs.

Lucifer being love with Diavolo was the current running joke after Solomon sent a picture of Lucifer drunk, asleep and worse, smiling on Diavolo’s shoulder.

“Satan, I see you’re practically begging to be strung upside down today.” Lucifer said through gritted teeth.

“Can you not think of any new punishments? Don’t you think this is getting a little too old to be threatening anymore?” Belphie chimed in.

“Sure, why not? You’d make a perfect meal for Cerebus. He’s particularly hungry today.” He said. My, my, he really was angrier than usual today.

Satan was about to retort again when you stepped in. “Guys, guys, Lucifer seems a little stressed today. Let’s give him a break. Also look! You’re all running late for Potions class!”

That got them up and running. Hurriedly shoveling food in their mouths, they tucked their chairs in.

“Shit shit shit- we gotta go! That Professor Morgant is gonna fail us if we’re late again!”

“Ugh, I already charmed him once and now he’s wary of me all the time! How annoying.”

“MC aren’t ya coming?” Mammon looked back, offering his hand.

“My speechcraft classes doesn’t start for another half hour. You can go ahead, Beel.” You smiled.

“Okay MC, see you there soon.” Beel smiled and dragged Mammon with him. “Come on Mammon, you need to pass this class more than the rest of us.”

Lucifer sat still, gently smiling at you as he cleared his plate. “I saw what you did there. You’ve really improved silent incantations.”

Of course, he noticed. Just like you wanted.

“You saw me move the hands of the clock. Your observation skills are wonderful, Lucifer.” You got up from your seat and took the one right next to him.

“You seem tired. I thought you could use a bit of silence.” You placed a caring hand on his. He immediately interntwined fingers.

“Yes. I need that very much. Thank you for being so thoughtful MC.” Lucifer leaned back in his chair. He relaxed so easily around you.

Poor thing.

“Remember I was supposed to take you to that old factory near the Poison Lake after school today?” He sighed. “Forgive me MC, I think we might have to postpone that.”

“Oh that’s okay, I don’t mind. You have to stay back for council meet today, I suppose?” You said.

“Yes. Apparently Barbatos made a big error in the club budget assignments this morning. And now we have to start from scratch.” Lucifer said, shaking his head.

“He doesn’t usually do this. I assigned the task to him specifically because of how accurate he is. Its one of his rare off days, perhaps.”

You remembered last night. And clearly he remembered it better. You didn’t realise you’d have this much of an effect on him.

“He must be overworked lately. What with the Annual Ball coming up in a month.” You feigned a guess. “Don’t worry, I’ll come help you after my classes too.”

Lucifer couldn’t resist it. He pulled you close and pressed a kiss on your forehead.

“Thank you, MC. You’re the only one I can trust myself with. I wish my brothers learnt a thing or two from you. Now come, let’s walk to RAD together.”

Bingo.

You knew this family like the back of your hand. Together they worked like a clumsy insect. One head and six legs.

Your plan was simple enough. You’d show this insect an illusion of death. You’d tear off the limbs one by one and watch the head lose its composure.

An invisible predator hiding in plain sight. You could barely contain your excitement as you walked arm in arm with the eldest demon brother.

“You really do look particularly dazzling today, MC. Has something good happened lately?” He chuckled.

“It’s not happened yet. But it’s coming. Very soon.” You nudged him with your shoulder. A subtle warning he would regret missing later.

Avatar of Chaos :

(1) Arrival

Chap 2 ->

Knock knock.

Knock.

Knock knock.

Barbatos stirred in his sleep. He glanced at the clock nearby.

2:22 am.

Who in their right mind would come to him at such hours? Annoyed, he gradually got up, tidying up his attire. As much as a pajama can be tidied really.

The knock continued incessantly. In the same pattern of two at a time. Like someone was deliberately trying to be annoying. He was agitated now as he swung open his door.

“It is not polite to knock on people’s door at-”

He stopped as he noticed he was speaking to noone. And that the knocking hadn’t stopped. Not on this door? Then where?

He checked his window. Still nothing. Then he heard it get louder. Eyes wide in horrific realisation, he slowly turned to the portal doors.

The portals that spanned across space and time were but one way roads. Noone had ever come from the other side. Not without him knowing about it.

“Who are you? And what could you possibly want at this hour?”

Barbatos approached the door, his hand trembling on the handle. The knocking had finally stopped.

“Why that’s so mean of you, Barb. You said your door would always be open for me.”

The door was thrown open. Wild rainy winds gushed into his room. Barbatos fell back on his bed, gazing ahead. Papers and curtains blew around, hindering his view.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you look that scared before.” You laugh. “It rather suits you. Makes me want to keep you that way.”

Barbatos gaped like a fish, struggling to get his words out. “M-MC…why…how did you-”

You let out a laugh. “I’m not just a human anymore, Barbatos. I shed my ‘mortal shell’ because of you lot! Thank you for that!”

“But you returned home. I saw you…I saw you returning with Mammon and Satan. Did something happen there? In the house of Lamentation?!”

“Oh something did happen many moons ago. You should know. You put me there and watched after all.”

Barbatos’s felt his throat dry up as you walked over and sat next to him.

“I apologise MC, we all assumed you wouldn’t want to talk about since you seemed to forgive us and-”

“Forgiven? Sure. But I have yet to forget it. But I just thought I’d come here and speed up the process. And the easiest way to do that…is to get even.”

This is impossible. There can’t be two versions of one person in the same timeline for long. Both timelines become highly unstable - if MC stays here then…

“Are you wondering what will happen to your current MC? The one that you brought from the other time?”

Barbatos nodded lightly.

“They’re back where they’re supposed to be. I rebuilt the timeline you destroyed. And I came back…” You gestured out to the portal, “..straight from my grave. So I’m one of you now!”

You laughed and pointed at your head. There was no joy in it. Barbatos felt his heart grow uneasy.

All of this was unprecedented. Maybe more than anything else - the gold-tipped horns that sat atop your head terrified him to the core.

“Don’t you worry. I’m not here to kill. I’m only here to watch. It’ll be fun! Haven’t things been boring lately? I’ll be going now. See you later, Barb!”

You disappeared the same way you appeared. And you closed the door behind you. His room was a scattered mess and so was his heart.

Barbatos dreaded what Diavolo would do if he found out. He’d probably have a breakdown, he secretly harbored a guilt of hurting you over and over and now you were finally here for retribution…as a demon.

He remembered your horns again. No low level demon could have such elaborate and gorgeous horns, no you were a new Avatar. A demon of the highest rank. An Avatar who could command all the others.

You were by far, the most dangerous thing Barbatos had ever encountered.

Yandere! MC with Asmodeus

In the Asmo’s fan forum

AssmoLover: Hey it’s been three days since Asmo posted anything hasn’t it…I’m getting worried..

AsmoIsLove: Exactly. He never goes this long without a post.

PrettyLusty: Did you see him at school 2 days ago, what were those marks on his neck?!

Azzymoo: Yeah it almost looks like a leash…

Master07: It might be a new kink, you know? He loves trying new things.

AssmoLover: Ooh I hope he comes back online and tells us all about it. He would look so pretty in it.

Master07: I don’t think he should that everyone. Maybe that’s just a special thing between him and his lover.

AzzyMoo: Ahhahaha you’re joking right?! Asmo loves all of us! He can’t just love one! It’s in his sin after all!

Master07: Well maybe he finally knows how to behave.

“Hey Asmo…” You called out to him. “Pose for me won’t you? People want to see you. Let’s see your back.”

“Yes Master…” Asmo gasped as you yanked the pretty collar on him. “Is this okay? Like this?”

“Yeah almost. Wait here for a while okay? Let’s make you a little bit more pretty.” You reached out to touch his warm back. Your cold touch gave him goosebumps.

You let your nails scrape across his back, leaving red marks in their wake. He moaned in pain and pleasure. “Ahh Master MC!”

“Now it’s perfect. Smile for me, Asmo.” You smile as you snap the picture. “Now post this. And let your followers know exactly who you belong to now.”

Yandere! MC with Satan

“MC! What a coincidence, didn’t think I’d run into you here.” Satan greeted you as you waved at him. “I didn’t even know you were invited, I would you brought you along.”

“It was sort of last minute really. They sent my invite to the wrong address or something.” You laughed.

“It seems I run into you no matter where I go, MC. It must be fate.” Satan smiled with a light blush and held out his arm. “Well let’s not deny our fate any longer then.”

“Exactly what I was thinking.” You smiled, now walking around the room with him. “Ah tomorrow is a holiday isn’t it?”

Satan nodded in relief. “Yes I had so many things pending. Now I will finally have time to do all of it. You know what’s the first thing I’m going to do? I’m going to-”

“You’re going to that cat shelter to deliver all the tuna cans and toys you bought last week, then you’re going to meet that demon by the old library who has a collection of cursed books, then you’ll go buy that cursed brooch you’re planning to prank Lucifer with.” You said, almost on instinct.

Satan’s eyes widened. You laughed out loud, “Isn’t that how Sherlock Holmes does it? I’ve been reading so much of him lately, I’ve started being more observant of everyone.”

“Ah I was just about to tease you about your obsession with me. Now you ruined it.” He frowned playfully.

“Haha aww sorry about that.” You noticed a crowd gathering near the entrance of the ballroom. “What’s all the commotion about?”

“Let’s ask someone.” Satan approached an official who seemed to be anxiously walking about. “Excuse me sir, what’s wrong over there?”

“Apparently one of our esteem guests had been attacked and had their invitation stolen while they were on their way here. It was so sudden it startled him and he’s gone into hysterics.” The official explained. “Excuse me, I think they require my assistance.”

Satan glanced at you once, but said nothing. But the way you smiled and shook your head to yourself certainly caught him off guard.

Yandere! MC with Leviathan

Tw: Gore, disturbing scenarios

“Oh come on Levi, stop making such a fuss about that already.” You scolded as you fixed his dishevelled hair. He was curled into a ball, looking terrified, rocking himself back and forth.

“You don’t understand MC, there was so much blood…so many bodies… everywhere….” He cried, burying his head between his knees.

“I’m sure you accidentally walked into the cursed horror house or something. Come on now, you don’t want to be late to meet your favourite cosplayers would you?”

“I told you MC, they were all injured! They were crawling to safety, they were so scared of me, one of them lost their legs…another one lost her eye…and one of the VA’s had his tongue cut off! It was horrible MC!” Levi was hyperventilating now.

“So you don’t want to go back?” You stroked his hair. He looked at you with pleading eyes.

“No never. Never again.” He shook his head. “I want to stay locked up in my room with you, MC. I want to stay right here, please.”

“See that’s what I had been suggesting all this time, yet you refuse to listen. Come, I’ll show you something.” You said, coaxing him into your arms.

“I am the sorceror MC, hear my plea,

Create onto here, what my mind can see…”

“Woah…woah..Woahhhhhh! MC how did you?!” Levi smiled in utter glee, “This looks exactly like the protagonist’s room from that isekai anime! I’m never leaving my room again!”

“Illusion magic, I’m quite good at it. If I can imagine it, I can show you it. I can do any genre too! Except horror… I doubt you want to see something like that again.” You smiled to yourself. Mission accomplished.

scenario: So remember that one human kid Mammon took in? Well, what if Lucifer found out and is mad because it means a human was in Devildom without Diavolo’s knowledge and consent all this time. He tries to get a hold of the child, and oh boy is the Avatar Of Greed furious….

The hotel room they had taken temporary refuge in looked shadier than he liked. The floor was a crazy quilt of smooth marble, the wall paint chipped in a few places.

The flames in the brick fireplace cackled, exhaling wisps of light and dark smoke up the chimney. The reflection of the image was the only thing warming the boreal lifeless tint of Mammon’s eyes. His gaze was fixed on Cassie’s tiny figure snuggled into a heap of blankets on the bed. He lifted the bottle of cheap beer to his lips, the phantom weight of the gold watch he had traded for cash still lingering on his wrist. The bitter liquid did little to soothe the stinging ache in his chest, but it would have to do for now. To suppress the myriad of emotions from wreaking havoc on his mind until he could figure out his next course of action.

The whole situation still felt surreal, as if he were suspended in midair and waiting for the ground to come crashing and swallow him whole. It felt like another one of his tantrums to garner pity and attention, but it wasn’t. He had almost wrangled his own brother to death and walked out of the house without a single penny to his name. Despite his own warning, Mammon knew that there would be consequences. Not even demons from the most powerful aristocratic families with their vast wealth and connections could escape being razed by the wrath of Lucifer. His connection to the Morningstar was the sole leverage Mammon had over all those unfortunate souls, but it would be foolish even on his behalf to make that into his future’s foundation. Not after what he had just done.

The second born closed his eyes and tipped his head back on the headrest. No sound escaped his lips as he redirected his focus to his breathing. Ironically, it was easier to stay calm as the minutes stretched on than to lose control.

A shift in fabric snapped him out of his trance-like state of mind, and Mammon’s eyes shifted to the bed. Rubbing her eyes with the knuckles of her tiny fists, Cassie’s pink lips curved into a small ‘O’ as she yawned and stretched . She blinked rapidly as she tried to adjust to the new darkness in her surroundings, scanning over the entire room before locking eyes with Mammon sprawled on the loveseat. Watching her try to fix her adorable bed hair made a strange sense of tranquil wash over all of Mammon’s frantic postulations as he softly called out to her.

“Hey, sweetheart. Up so soon?”

He found himself naturally gravitating towards her, kneeling in front the bed’s edge and holding his arms out. And as if she felt the pull as well, Cassie crawled over to him. Her knees faltered once and she almost fell face first into the mattress, but strong palms quickly slid beneath her armpits to stabilize her.

“Where are we?” Her voice was so small, so fragile.

“The human world.”

Her eyes widened, her fists clutching his shirt tighter. Mammon simply shook his head slowly and kissed her forehead. “It’s alright. I am going to be here with you. You have nothing to be afraid of, ‘kay?”

Cassie nodded, sniffing lightly before standing up on the bed. “I’m hungry.”

Mammon couldn’t help the small smile creeping onto his lips. “Of course. Let’s go get some dinner.”

The tension in the house was so thick, one could slice it like butter with a knife.

Leviathan hated every second of it. It felt like he had swallowed brittle concrete, an uneasy damp sensation washing over his body. He couldn’t meet anyone’s gazes, nor could he get a grip on his own emotions. What he had just witnessed was…surreal. Something that had shook him to his core. When the eldest two had fought, it was as if the air around them had a life of its own. It was feral, tasted like madness on his tongue, and stabbed at his chest like nails being hammered down. The sheer barbarism of the fight was enough to stoke the first of his darker demonic instincts, which he wasn’t even aware of anymore after burying himself in heaps of anime for so long.

Tapping the badge on his jacket lapel to keep himself grounded, he sunk into a corner of the room. But this time, no one came to check on him.

Since the only person who ever did had walked out of the front door.

From behind the elongated couch, Asmodeus gauged both the first born and the fourth born with skeptical rose gold eyes. His perfectly manicured nails dug into his forearms, an action sure to leave marks. But he was too on the edge to be bothered. The situation felt like a balloon stretched to its limits; one wrong blow and it would burst with a deafening roar.

“Lucifer.”

Satan’s voice was level, but there was an unusual amount of depth in it.

But the brother he had called out to was too lost in his own thoughts. His face had solidified into a scowl like stone, his shoulders heaving at a slow pace. His fists clenched at his sides, making the brothers tense in their positions. But nothing happened; instead, he exhaled heavily and turned his back towards them, the sound of the heavy coat draped over his shoulders shattering the silence of the previously quiet hall.

“Clean this mess up. I have to go and inform Diavolo.”

The clicking of his shoes faded out of the room, giving the remaining demons space to breathe and ease.

Belphegor pursed his lips in mild distaste. “So…now what?”

Asmo chuckled lowly and nervously. “I-It’s not like it’s the first time Mammon’s acted out like this…”

Amethyst eyes pierced both his soul and the remainder of his words. “But that was scary, wasn’t it?”

Silence.

Satan is the first one to break it. “Well, we should probably give him some time to cool down. Even for Mammon, that was one hell of a tantrum.”

The fifth-born’s vice-like grip on his forearms slacks, and he lets them drop to his sides like deadweights. “Y-Yeah. We can talk to Luci till then.”

Belphegor nibbles on the nail of his thumb. “You’d have to have a death wish for that. Lucifer will probably slice Mammon’s hands off the net time he sees him. So yeah, give it a century or two.”

Asmodeus groans. “Man, why did that idiot have to do this? It was just a kid, for fuck’s sake!”

Satan sighs softly, unconsciously slipping into his critically analytical mode. “Well, he’s always desperate for attention, isn’t he? Children are the best means for that, with the way they cling to their guardians. My best guess is that Mammon found her on the streets or something, and judging by the way the child was clinging to him, she must’ve bought his façade of greatness in a moment of vulnerability—”

“Oh for fuck’s sake, just shut up already.”

The piercing deep voice from the corner of the room makes everyone’s heads turn. Beelzebub is crouched near Leviathan, looking down at his fingers intertwined with the panicked otaku’s. The look on his face is different from usual; a furious grimace that varies from his apathetic one. But the look he directs at the fourth-born has him backing.

“Can you even hear yourself talk right now, Satan? Attention?Façade? Do you really think so less of the only brother who was even willing to raise you?”

Satan’s emerald eyes widened in shock at the words, his lips parting but no sound escaping them.

“What happened today was not a tantrum. It was something very well due. Lucifer may be the one who was punishing him, but we are all responsible for what things with Mammon have come down to. And most of all,” Beel’s grip subconsciously tightened in his anger, making Levi wince, “I am responsible for not standing up for him when you all were being fucking assholes to him.”

Belphegor didn’t know what was holding his voice back, the surprise at hearing his twin’s raw emotions after so long or the guilt choking down his words. But all that escaped his mouth was, “Beel, no—”

“Beel, yes. Stop shielding me from my mistakes, I am not a baby.” He turned back to the blonde. “Did you not see the way he defended the girl? She obviously meant something to him. Would a demon desperate for attention go up against practically royalty for someone expendable?” A sarcastic chuckle escaped his lips as he scanned the group scattered across the room. “Oh, but what would I know? I’m just the dumb guy who eats for a living, right?”

Asmo’s eyes shut in defeat, unable to watch the scene unfolding in front of him. It stung to hear such unkindly true words come from one of the youngest in the family, precisely why the narcissist didn’t want to listen to them any more than he had to.

“He may have done some not so nice things because of his sin, but haven’t we all? Shouldn’t we at least be a bit grateful that despite all his shortcomings, Mammon stuck with us? Kept us all together? If not all the things he’s done for us throughout his life, the fact that he defended a human childfromLucifer should prove that he is not a scumbag. Not in the slightest.”

For the first time in a long long while, Satan felt petrified by the fury in the glare Beelzebub fixed him with.

“So instead of your head, for once try and think with the heart that you didn’t get when you spawned out of Lucifer.”

Once the Avatar of Gluttony was done talking, he gripped the third-born’s shoulders to provide him support and helped him to his feet, ignoring the bewildered looks burning into his back and helped him up the stairs. But not before he looked over his shoulders one last time, a look of determination hardened in his eyes.

“I am going to look for Mammon. And if he refuses to come back, I’m staying with him. I won’t let him fall alone apart any longer than he already has.”
