Here’s what I love about well done children’s books: it doesn’t matter what age you are, they’re a good time. My kids are in the double digits, and eeking ever closer to their teen years, and yet I still pick up new picture books on a regular basis. They’re fun to sit down to read together, or to use to get ideas for drawing, or even great tools to help combat anxiety. These two books are particularly great for all three of those things!

May 8 … maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate. I always find it a bit funny when I read lines like “he’s my mate” or “I have found my mate” because it means something VERY different in Australia and we tend to put on a really bogan accent when we say it.
So some of my favourite maaaaaaaaates are Harry and Ron! I just adore their friendship and I want to hug them forever.

Is it just me or is #ACOFAS the prettiest of all the #ACOTAR books so far? I have been SLAIN by this cover.
I’m going to be super busy over the next week but I’m really hoping to squeeze this tiny read into my schedule. I read a few cheeky pages while taking this photo and I’m already keen.

What makes you the happiest in your life? ☺️
Lately, I haven’t been the happiest I could be but I’m trying to find a thing a day, or if it’s too much, a thing a week that makes me happy. BTS is one of them, with their sunshine personalities and uplifting music, listening to audiobooks, doing a little decorating, meeting with or talking to friends or eating something good, these are some that I try to do more of. And thankfully, my love for taking pictures is coming back. I guess the summer time for me is the worst, I somehow always seem to be uninspired come hot and sweaty. So my goal is for the next summer, to take enough pictures until so I won’t feel unproductive here. Like take this picture for example, I took it last December when I was home and now found a perfect use for it.

So did you get to see the #eclipse today? It was absolutely incredible and I took 1693687486 pictures ! From where we are we could only see 75% of the eclipse; which means that we didn’t get to experience twilight during the day but it became chillier and darker (slightly ). The whole eclipse was amazing and to be able to experience it with my family was even better.

° So far I’ve read a grand total of 0 books during the readathon!!! It’s just that the book I’m reading is kinda slow and has really, really, truly terrible dialogue but the storyline is pretty interesting so I’m going to stick with it.

I think I mentioned before that my clothing style is “Apocalyptic Gypsy Grandma” I really only wear things that are ripped up, Stevie Nicks approved or so old only grannies would wear ‘em.

I style my house the same way. And
I have this thing for rusty metal. This is the apocalyptic/distressed/grungy side of me. So this piece of metal has different stages of decay all over it, it was hard to choose what to feature first.
Anyhoo! I’m going to try and find GOT online and catch up. And you can bet I’ll be a Nerd Girl and have Winter Brew tea while I watch. I already tried the Lannister blend and it was ☕️

I have to tell you guys some things:
1. I’m officially obsessed with thistles. I find them and hurt myself picking them and hurt myself more photographing them. But worth it, yeah? Look at them!
2. This is a book called Bone Mother I was trying to save for Fall but I “accidentally” browsed through the pages and saw that they were short, scary folklore tales with creepy photos! I read like 10 of them last night.
3. I’m anticipating my @the.nocturnal.readers.box SO BAD! I’m trying not to leave the house so I can be here when it arrives
4. I have a translucent thorn in my fingertip that hurts when I type on my phone. I can’t see it to remove it. Any suggestions??

Fantasy Author Friday for the #circleofbookishfriends and I’m choosing JK Rowling. Her rise to fame story is fascinating to me and I cannot imagine what it must feel like to have a very successful book series, a very successful movie franchise and a motherflippin THEME PARK made from your imagination. What a crazy life!
I’m really pleased that it all happened to her, not only is the story of Harry Potter totally worthy but I just think JK Rowling is a beautiful person as well.
