Time to peel luffas again.

I only have around 10 this year, if that, but there are still plenty left from last autumn, so I don’t mind.

It wasn’t a good year for cauliflower & broccoli. I planted so many and this is one of the only 2 purple cauliflowers that actually produced any heads. A while back I also harvested 3 regular white ones, but no broccoli.

My biggest luffas this season. Still nowhere near starting to dry, but I’ve peeled plenty of green luffas last autumn and they lasted just as well so I’m not worried about it.

Harvested the potatoes last Wednesday and I wanted to document it here, because it’s been a long time since we last had potatoes this small. We’ve been lucky, there were a few years when our neighbors had pretty bad harvests and we didn’t, so I guess it was bound to happen to us as well. It’s been a cold and weird year and they didn’t get to mature properly.
Also had to harvest the volunteer sunflowers that popped up among the potato rows.

Planted my dahlias today. This is my second year growing dahlias and somehow I ended up with 28 varieties. Ooops.

They did so well last year, even in a shaded spot. This season I’m giving them full sunlight, can’t wait to see them in full bloom.

So much garlic.

Top picture is some Turkish (?) garlic -gifted by a friend- I planted in a corner of the garden to try and grow as a perennial.

Bottom picture is all the garlic that started sprouting in the spot where it grew last year. I could have sworn I harvested it all last autumn, but this happens every time. Will grow potatoes there now, so I pulled it all out before tilling and transplanted it.

Also planted most of the onion sets yesterday. Two beds of red and two beds of yellow onions. Will pAlso planted most of the onion sets yesterday. Two beds of red and two beds of yellow onions. Also planted most of the onion sets yesterday. Two beds of red and two beds of yellow onions. Will probably add one more bed of each later on.

I feel like every year I find some weird thing to use in the garden and this year is this old, wooden drawer. Perfect for sets, beans and any large seeds in.

After an entire winter of doing little to no physical work, tilling took me out yesterday.
