A leaf from my Bear Paw succulent. I got it several months ago and I overwatered it. Thankfully it survived and now growing some new paws

I never noticed it before, but it has a mild stink. My daughter said it smelled like spit I’d have to agree.

A magenta Bougainvillea flower from my backyard. We’ve had it for several years and hasn’t really bloomed. But this year, it did, and it spread pretty widely trying to scale our fence. We planted it in our backyard because it reminds us of our home countries, Indonesia and India, as Bougainvilleas grow abundantly over there. Thankfully, Texas’ weather is pretty much tropical My husband and I are happy to see that it finally bloomed nicely

Blueberry Jelly Belly jellybean.

During our very short Summer vacation last month, I bought a variety pack of these jellybeans. The blueberry ones were my daughter’s favorite. I loved the pomegranate ones myself I couldn’t stand the sizzling cinnamon and licorice ones (had to spit them out ).

Which one(s) is your favorite flavor?

Young grapes from the hotel we stayed at in Grapevine, Texas. It has this little vineyard within its ground! My family and I took a much needed vacation there the past couple of days. We had a fun relaxing time. Also, my husband and I are celebrating our 14th anniversary today

Tiger Balm. This stuff is magic! ✨ Growing up Asian, I’ve always used Tiger Balm for all kinds of aches and pains. Do you know that it’s a great itch relief for mosquito bites? Also for stuffy nose (put a tiny bit on the outside of your nose), muscle pain, and headaches. My dad really believes in this thing. This mini tin was his. He brought it with him when he and my mom came from Indonesia to visit us five years ago. I did not know that it came in this tiny tin version! Of course I asked my dad if I could have it. My family and I are supposed to fly to Indonesia to see my parents in June. But because of Covid19, everything was cancelled. I really hope we can go see them next year. I miss my parents…

Green Campanelle Pasta I bought from Pappardelle’s Pasta Shop at Seattle’s Pike Place Market. I was attracted to this pasta’s adorable shape Its name literally means “little bells”. Do you have a particular pasta shape you absolutely love? … Or hate?

A blue ceramic turtle bead my daughter bought for her homemade bracelet business. When I first saw it at the craft store, it made me chuckle because of how anatomically incorrect it was . But hey, we got a super cute bracelet out of it.

My Lavender plant finally bloomed… after 3 years of just being a leafy small bush.

The inside of a Calamondin. It’s also known as Calamansi or Philippines Lime. When I sliced it, I did not expect to see two huge seeds inside . The peel is sweet but the inside is sour. They make a refreshing juice!

Pussy Willow fuzzy catkins! My neighbor threw away branches of these a few weeks ago. I couldn’t resist, they’re so adorable! Had to take some home

A tiny metal Cardinal pocket keepsake. I purchased it at a store in Portland Airport as my family and I were traveling back from our Spring Break last week. We came home to a social-distancing mandate and school closure for 4 weeks. I never would have thought that the Coronavirus situation would go this bad I bought this cardinal token because of its cuteness. It has a nice weight to it in your hand. But then I discovered the meaning behind the bird. Traditionally, the Cardinal is symbolic of life, hope, and restoration. The bird’s appearance holds a reminder that though circumstances might look bleak, there is always HOPE. A timely message for all of us right now. I sincerely hope you all are well despite the awful situation hitting the whole world. This hard time will pass and we’ll get to the other side

A piece of broken off tree branch covered by a family of Lichens. They usually grow together on tree branches and signify good air quality. Found it on my walk to my son’s school. Looks like tiny alien plants. If you zoom in, you’ll see that the leafy one got some tiny black hairs .

A nod to Spring! Tiny flowers from the weeds that grow in between my patio flagstones I think it’s called Creeping Charlie. From what I read, turns out it is an extremely high source of Vitamin C . The more you know….

Dried Butterfly Pea Flowers from @tealeavesco’s new tea: @pantone Color of the Year — Classic Blue. It’s delightful! A lovely blend of Butterfly pea flower, lemon verbena, lemongrass, rose petal and Firmenich flavor. Sooo comforting! I grew up in Indonesia where these pretty blue flowers growing wildly everywhere! I remember being fascinated by them because of their intense blue color and funny shape. So it’s an added bonus as it brings my childhood memories ☺️ Definitely a new favorite.

Fossil shark tooth.

Our family went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science (@hmns) today. At the Paleontology Hall, my 9 year old daughter took the quiz at one of the learning tables and won a little prize. One of the staff, an older gentleman, told her that the prize is a shark tooth fossil that is at least 100 million years old! My daughter’s first response to that was, “Can I sell it?!” The two staff laughed out loud

I love her.

A deceased male “Dog Day” Cicada I found on the ground while walking around my city’s town square. It got that name because they appear during the hottest days of Summer to mate safely. They can withstand the heat but their predators cannot. Their buzzing mating calls are really loud!

P.S. If this guy were alive, there’s no way I would pick him up from the ground He is beautiful to look at from up close tho. Especially that green.
