Srsly he spends 3 years up on the lookout and besides the initial meeting they barely interact ;_; idk the idea of ‘bumbling kid befriends a reclusive and self-loathing god figure’ to be interesting. Not to mention a foil for Gohan and piccolo

Expansion on part of this but I wish I had a shorthand for when I say “I love Gohan and piccolo’s relationship,” to mean “I love the canon representation of it, bad stuff included, not at the expense of other familial relationships or interpretations of their bond.” Which sounds goofy and wordy, but the way this aspect of canon gets treated as God a lot of the time makes me (a fan of it) roll my eyes a lot

because while I love fluff as much as the next guy,, it’s hard not to associate their relationship with the big chunk of the fandom that just uses it to bash Goku or claim that “oh pic is his REAL dad” like no bro you’re missing canon by a mile and failing to see the nuance of flawed characters,,

And yeah it could be executed better in canon than what we got but bro that’s what fandom is for, to dig deeper into the meat and potatoes of what crumbs canon gives.

I’m not saying that’s what everyone should do I’m not your dad; fandom is about each person coming away from the media with a unique perspective. But I am weary of the fandom culture of endless, endless arguing over whether this or that character is valid; at least when it comes to randomly sending people asks about “um well Goku did [x] so your interpretation is wrong” like.

It’s dragon ball. I’m not saying don’t be critical or read deeper into media or engage in conversation about it, but I am saying that when the source is so rife with inconsistencies and bad writing as dragon ball, the level of infighting I see seems kind of silly

Anyway people can interpret stuff however they want it’s the wild west baybee

I’m still deciding who to draw ‘Surface Pressure’ with.. it is a song that fits with everyone on Dragonball: Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, Bulma, Future Trunks, Everybody(even Nappa because he must’ve had to raise two Saiyan kids alone being the only Saiyan adult..) they all have their own responsibilities and people to protect
