Looking for some opinions! I am considering putting a moss ball in the ceramic pet fountain I keep in my greenhouse cabinet… do you think it would be happy there?

Hey planty people! Just wanted to remind you that my inbox is always open if you have questions or want to chat

Avocado from seed update!

Lots of new growth after the rain. I’m keeping the soil moist to continue the growth. So far looking good!

I’ve grown this from seed for 3 years! I use a wet towel to cover the pit, then put it all in a Ziploc bag and keep it in a dry place.

Check on it once a week, this is a crucial step, so set up reminders on your phone! You should see roots after 4-8 weeks. Pot it in soil after the roots are about 3-4 inches long and strong.

Any questions, let me know!

This is how I shop for airplants!

Many times the flower attracts you and that’s fine. I know they are gorgeous and surreal. As long as you know that they are Monocarpic plants, and will slowly die after putting out their flower.

I prefer to look for babies! That means that after the babies grow enough, I’ll have more airplants. The mom will flower eventually, so I will still appreciate that too!

Can we all scream for a minute? Look who joined my plant fam! Anthurium hookeri (bird’s nest anthurium) Isn’t she gorgeous? Comment a and get excited with me!

She is labelled as a bird nest anthurium. She does have red veins and a gorgeous flower in the last stages.

I didn’t get it from a normal retail shop. In our area one day a year, 9 wholesale nurseries open the door to the public. I saw her from afar at one of them, screamed and without researching or anything, I knew she called my soul. Because of the event, she was also only $35 (for that size omg!)

I’m still in full research mode, since this is a rare plant in my area (meaning she is not widely available), I’m honestly not sure if the label is accurate or not. Based on what I’ve found, most sold ones are hybrids and not the actual species.

Do you grow this baby? Share any insights or tips with me!

My Alocasia Macrrohiza is back! Never give up. Observation is key!

I have a special love for this baby. I’ve grown her for 3 years now and she was stunning, until recently when I repotted her from a clay pot to a bigger ceramic pot and ended up overwatering her. I neglected her losing leaves, because it is common for her to drop leaves in winter, but I never kept less than 2 leaves. She lost them all…all!

That’s when I decided to take action, checked her roots and repotted her back to a smaller plastic pot and kept her in the ER (my garage). A few weeks later, she is showing her love with a new leaf!

i got a pink splash syngonium cutting a couple of weeks ago and the momma leaf has been slowly yellowing and getting crispy and ive been really worried about it but she just pushed out this little baby ! and theres a big root peeking out of the sphagnum up against the side of the jar so yay ! i cant wait to see what the new leaf looks like !

i got my albo syngonium cutting last september and after pushing out one leaf and dropping the other, it went dormant. but it finally graced me with this little baby !! im so excited to watch it unfurl and to see the variegation on it ! and it has tons of roots but ive been waiting to pot it up until it had more leaves so hopefully now i can pot it and make it super happy :)) !
