FINDING THE RIGHT BAGS

by S. Charlie Weyman

If you’re wealthy enough, you never have to carry your own things. It was reported last year, for example, that Karl Lagerfeld not only travels with at least twenty-five Goyard suitcases (and who knows how many people hired to carry them), but also has a staffer follow him around with a single glass of Pepsi Max, just in case he should ever find himself thirsty. Most of us can’t afford such luxuries, unfortunately, so we have to schlep our own things around (while a few of us also have to schlep Karl’s). This requires having the right set of bags for the task.

Most professionals will need a slim briefcase. Something made from cotton or nylon will be good for causal work environments, while leather will be more appropriate for traditional offices. Leather briefcases will come with either soft or hard sides. A hard-sided one will be good for protecting fragile items, but it can’t expand like a soft-sided design when it’s overloaded. Soft-sided briefcases, on the other hand, aren’t as good at standing up on their own, which is why if a man takes public transportation, he might want something with a broad base.

For non-work-related carrying needs, there are backpacks, duffles, and totes. Modern backpacks can look overly technical, but in the last few years, there has been a resurgence in retro-inspired designs. For use with Barbour jackets in the city, many men have also repurposed game bags for non-hunting uses. Large compartments intended for game can be used to carry a laptop, while smaller pouches can be used to hold computer chargers.

Perhaps most overlooked are weekenders, which are the perfect size to carry everything you need for a quick getaway trip. In a pinch, they can also be used to carry things around town when a duffle or tote won’t do.

It’s good to have a selection of bags in your closet, varying in size and formality, so that you’ll always have something for any task. Briefcases for going to the office; backpacks, duffles, and game bags for sportier pursuits; totes when you need to just throw something in the car; and weekenders for quick trips. Nothing to hold just a single glass of Pepsi Max, however. For that, you’ll need a servant and enough wealth to consider his salary a rounding error.

The power is out and this was the only beer left in my fridge. Having no idea what it tasted like I instantly regretted opening this smooth coconut delight because it is worthy of being your last brew. NOIR
tonka, vanilla porter
6%

Ennek a munkámnak a megjelenését vártam a legjobban egész tavalyi évből!
.
Hangulatban visszamentem egyik kedvenc korszakomra 20-as/30-as évek Hollywood-Párizs-Budapest vonalra, a későesti nagyváros fényeinél egymásra boruló titkos szerelem mögött kirajzólódó koponya pedig a “mindhalálig” -ot hivatott képviselni. Ez egy bűnös viszony, egy végzetes, titkos szerelem amelyik bújdosásrsa, sötétre van kárhoztatva.

This was my most favorite project from the previous year.
The NOIR is a 6% handcrafted brown ale beer, with tonka bean / vanilla porter
About the cover-mood, i flought back into the classic 20’s / 30’s years Hollywood-Paris-Budapest line, where a lover couple kissing on a dark balcony,  while the big city lights and hanging trees behind  shapes a skull, which is representing the “forever, secret love” utnil death.

First baseball game of the season.

Two solid innings of work pitching. Only one strike out but weak contact that allowed his teammates to get outs for him. Didn’t allow any runs.

Hitting wise, he got on base twice. Scored once and drove two runs in but got out his third at bat.

Day 6

We got the arch finished

Jessi, Jeremy and Porter ended up having plans. So I finished building a handful of walls.

Hopefully next time I come out Jeremy will have the walls secured and all the bracing pulled. So we can start in on making the rooms or windows.

Porter was out.

So we put him to work building walls, cutting blocks, and helping with the arch.

He was just excited to be in/use the lift.

Last band concert of the year.

Porter’s mom works for the Food Bank. She was made project lead for the new building they had built.

Porter and I got a little private tour. It’s very impressive with lots of room for growth.

We put together a little surprise party for mom for her 70th.

And not a let’s all hide and jump out and get her surprise. More like we, myself and Porter, little brother and his family, older brother and his wife, a couple of her sisters, and a brother-in-law just showed up at roughly the same time and wished her a happy birthday and gave hugs.

After working 13 days straight I needed a break but my yard needed mowing.

Cue the 13 year old.

Porter had told me his skool choir was gonna do I Want You Back but he had failed to mention that there was a dance routine that went along with it.

After we went over to a ball dimond and got some tee work in and ran some infield and outfield drills.

Surprised Porter with a little hangout with the twins.

Biking.

Dog walking.

Movie.

First batting practice of the year.

He enjoyed it.

I thought it was fantastic.

Porter has really been getting into taking his bike to the BMX track.

Porter’s skool put on Shrek the Musical Jr. (Jr. because it isn’t 2.5 hours so Porter informed me).

He played the bishop, a guard, and woodland creature. It was fun to watch and he had a blast being in it and making it.
