When beginning a new dynamic every Submissive must undergo some form of training to meet her Dominant’s wants and needs within the predetermined dynamic. Training involves learning and practicing desired skills and services, adhering to the Dominant’s structure of protocols/rituals which develop and reinforces habits of obedience.

Most training principles will follow this format for the Dominant:

* 1) Set a clear and concise expectation, proceed to 2 (If step 1 is failed, repeat step 1, ensure you have given the appropriate training and tools needed forsuccess),
* 2)Submissive meets expectation, success is achieved, reinforce the submissive positively. Put into practice and with routine success then consider adding additional power and responsibility to the submissive as you will.
* Submissive fails to meet expectation, proceed to 3,
* 3) Identify the reason for failure through assessment and communication, proceed to 4,
* 4) If failure is due to a poor submissive attitude, retrain and apply the minimum appropriate consequence to establish correction as needed.
* A) If failure is due to poor submissive skills, reassess and retrain as needed.
* B) If the submissive is incapable (such as due to a physical or mental limitation), reassess and reassign the expectation as needed.

Training is both the initial period of teaching and an ongoing process. Keeping in mind that repeatedly being confronted with rules that must be obeyed helps wear down feelings of psychological reactance.
(Submissive’s own state of mind on control and self advocacy)

It is NOT uncommon for the submissive to experience strong reactions to increasing control on the Dominant’s part, (psychological reactance) in many ways they are the symptoms that things that matter to the submissive are being controlled. That does not excuse disobedience, but it can give clues as to the current state and that techniques may need to be implemented before steady progress can occur. Remember it only takes 21 consistent days of repetitive behavior before it becomes routine.

How do you train your submissive? How does your Dominant continue the training process?

Devotional Training: 21 days to routine.

Routines: An Autistic Perspective

My routines are long. They’re tedious. Sometimes I don’t even necessarily enjoy them.

“Then why do you do them?”

Because firstly, they help me stay on track. They make sure that I take care of myself. Routines also ground me and make me feel secure.

Without routines, it’s easy for autistic folks to forget about things like eating, going to the bathroom, homework, etc. However, if I tell myself, “Okay, I’m going to eat lunch at noon every day,” then that helps me avoid forgetting about meals. My daily and weekly routines are important tools that help me function.

They are safety nets in a lot of ways as well. For some of us, the subconscious thought process is “Well even if everything else is chaotic, at least I have my routines.” When things change, I like to adhere to my routines as much as possible, because they bring me comfort. For example, when I travel, I like to make sure I have all of the necessities to go through my (long) nightly routine. I just don’t feel the same without it, and it bothers me.

For some autistic folks, the changes of being in quarantine/lockdown or not having access to certain things are very distressing. Please be patient with us. We are all having to adapt.
