This was the first oil painting by Carl Barks. The title comes from John Masefield’s poem “Sea Fever”. This was based on his cover to Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories #108 (1949)

I am so in love with Miami!
I took my friend out on a day of sailing in Ft. Lauderdale (about a 45 minute drive from Miami Beach where I was staying) & it was sunny, warm and such a fresh breeze was blowing. It may not look like it from the photos, but once we got out to open ocean the waves were white capping at 5-6 ft with the wind blowing at 20-30 mph.
Very few powerboats out on the water and we were the only sail boat out! I absolutely need to just sail in Miami every time I’m out here because the weather is too perfect to pass up the opportunity!
