Bespoke test: unbutton your jacket. If the front quarters go backwards (like they tend to do in my case), the plumb is wrong. In the Neapolitan tailoring jargon, a jacket with this “flaw” is called “ittat e quart”, which roughly translates this condition. However, if your jacket’s plumb is wrong, don’t panic: 99% of the people in the world will never ever notice it ;)

Bespoke test: sbottonatevi la giacca. Se i quarti anteriori tendono ad andare verso il retro (come fanno un po’ nel mio caso), l'appiombo è errato. Nel gergo sartoriale napoletano, una giacca con questo genere di “difetto” è detta “ittat ‘e quart”, letteralmente “giacca dai quarti anteriori che tendono eccessivamente verso il retro”. Ad ogni modo, se la vostra giacca si trova in questa condizione, non andate in panico: il 99% delle persone non se ne accorgerà mai ;)

I’ll tell you a secret, but don’t let on: some elegant gentlemen spray their favourite fragrance on their pocket square. Whenever they take it out from the breast pocket, the fragrance spreads in the room, creating a pleasant surprise effect for the bystanders. I’ve tried this trick with Colonia Ebano by @acquadiparma_official that reminds me of the workshops where tailors work, among wooden tables and cloths. Have you ever tried to spray perfume on your hanky? I think it’s worth a try

Alcuni galantuomini sono soliti spruzzare un po’ della loro fragranza preferita sul fazzoletto da taschino. Quando lo estraggono, la fragranza si diffonde nell’ambiente creando un piacevole effetto sorpresa tra gli astanti. Ho provato questo espediente con Colonia Ebano Acqua di Parma, che mi ricorda le botteghe in cui lavorano i sarti, tra tavoli da taglio in legno e profumo di tessuti. Voi avete mai provato a spruzzare del profumo sulla vostra pochette? Credo che meriti un tentativo.

My journey in Madrid ends up today. I head back to Milan, even more aware that Spanish tailoring has a very peculiar identity which deserves to be preserved and communicated.
