Once again, American children and at least two adults have been murdered en masse by a deranged individual with access to firearms. This comes ten years after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in which around twenty children were murdered, along with several adults.

Those of us who live abroad look at America with absolute disbelief, unable to understand how such outrages can keep happening again and again. Ten years after Sandy Hook, and we’re now having to read yet more biographies of children whose lives were stolen. And I bet it won’t be long before we read that the murderer had shown signs of violence before, but such signs were ignored until it was too late.

Clearly, American politicians and the gun lobby must bear responsibility for sacrificing children to murderers for financial gain. Their claims about defending America’s Constitution are nonsensical, since the Second Amendment has been a qualifiedright for some time.

Individuals with a criminal record are supposed to be barred from accessing weapons, background checks are supposed to be performed, as are mental health checks. Stop and search is used in areas with high assault and homicide rates, thereby depriving people of firearms that could be used to murder others.

Yet the one fundamental right these apologists will not defend is the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.Respect for human life is utterly nonexistent, which is why we keep reading about such atrocities time after time after time. Get ready for the apologists to blame the children for not having bulletproof backpacks, not carrying out gun drills, or blame the teachers for not carrying semi-automatics.

Each and every murder is a national and an international disgrace. It demonstrates that America not only has a gun problem, but a crime problem, which the police have evidently failed to overcome. The constant spate of murders in inner-city neighbours continues, ending the lives of many children. Nothing is done to deter the criminals.

Enough is enough. I hope that good people in America who are fed up with this wholesale slaughter of the next generation will demand immediate accountability for this and many other outrages.

I’m not a parent and I cannot comprehend the heartbreak these parents are feeling. School is meant to be a safe place to learn and grow. These children went to school this morning ready to learn how to read and to do math, with dreams and hopes for the future. That’s gone now 15 lives meaningless taken.

America you need to do better !! Your gun laws are insane. How an 18 year old who is not old enough to drink alcohol can have access to a gun and take away fifteen lives is beyond me.

My heart breaks for everyone affected by this tragedy, for the children, their families, the teachers, the community. My thoughts are with you.

The husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert does not carry a concealed weapon. On the contrary, he shows his piece to underage girls. There’s a family man who wears his heart on his sleeve!

What the Second Amendment really says: “A WELL-REGULATED MILITIA being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Isn’t that the U.S. Army these days?

i hate the fact that at school even though we do have active shooter drills, so does nearly every other school in the country but that doesn’t stop kids from being shot in the place they’re considered “safe” anyway. we’re taught to never let anyone into the classroom after the door is locked, even if we could be saving their life. they have to find and unlocked room themselves and hope they don’t get caught before they do. it’s sickening the way we’re taught that everyone has to fend for themselves in those situations but we should never have to choose between our own safety and the life of our classmate. these things should never happen. we don’t need more “safety training” we don’t need the cops to fire fake gunshots during drills or try to break open our doors (which they succeeded at during a drill I was in this year, scaring us all) to make it “feel more real” we need actual legislation to prevent this from ever happening again. to any student. children should not fear for their lives at school. we should not have been anxious to go back to school after zoom classes ended because of school shootings. we should have been excited to see our friends and teachers. we as a nation should not have to face the death of innocent children constantly because those children should have been protected by the people “running” this country

A letter to the youth of this country

To the youth that feel like their voices aren’t being heard,

Please don’t give up. I know that it is frustrating to be screaming at the top of your lungs and to be treated as though your words are still not loud enough to matter. I know that you are scared, that you are dying, and it still doesn’t seem to be enough to create change. I know that it is disheartening, it is life changing, it is the type of thing that hardens hearts and will shape a generation.

Please don’t let it shape you into a generation that thinks they can’t change things. Please don’t let it shape you into a generation that thinks they do not matter or that no matter what you say, how well you say it or the size of the stage in which you give your speech it will not be enough to change hearts, minds or laws. It is enough, and our time as the youth of this country will come. I beg of you to stay strong, to keep talking and organizing. I beg of you to persevere and let that be the trademark of your generation.

You are enough and you are changing minds and hearts, soon it will be enough to change laws and policies. Keep going. We believe you can do this and we support you.

All my love,

A millenial who couldn’t be prouder of this country’s teenagers in light of recent events.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say every cop who sat around and made sure this happened to these kids for an hour deserves a public execution.

If you guys can, please donate to Miah’s gofundme so she can go to therapy and get the help she needs to deal with this trauma

In addition, the “teacher left a door propped open” was debunked by video footage.

In case anyone wants a recap of what happened on Tuesday in regards to the police response (correlated by Brynn Tannehill on Twitter & other sources). Here is the failure we know so far, with more to come out:

- The armed school officer watched him enter the building, didn’t stop him, & just sat & waited for backup. We’ve been told that armed cops assigned to schools were supposed to stop this from ever happening.

- The heavily armed & geared up officers all waited 60 minutes before entering the school while kids bled out, wasting a golden hour. They could have saved the lives of some children who were shot if they had received medical attention in time.

- A child repeatedly called 911 during the hour the gunman was inside, per press briefing. Gunshots could be heard over the line. “Please send the police now,” the child begged. Texas DPS official says the on-scene commander believed the active shooter situation had ended & children were no longer at risk. “It was the wrong decision,” he said.

- The officers tazed, pepper-sprayed, handcuffed, & arrested parents who were begging them to go in, all while still hearing shots being fired inside of the school.

- Angeli Rose Gomez, a mother of 2 students, drove 40 miles to the school when she heard about the shooting. After arriving, she was quickly handcuffed for “intervening in an active crime scene” & eventually persuaded law enforcement to release her. She moved away from the crowd, hopped the school fence, sprinted inside the school to grab her children, & made it out of the school with them alive.

- When officers did enter the school, they went to rescue their own kids rather than deal with the shooter & promptly went back out of the building to resume hanging out with the other officers.

- At one point, a few fathers got fed up, broke a classroom window, & started pulling children out themselves.

- Officers lied & said that the shooter barricaded the door when it was just locked. They said that they were incapable of knocking down or opening the locked door to the classroom where the shooter was, so they had a school employee come do it for them with a key, putting that employee’s life in extreme danger.

- Uvalde SWAT team had done a walkthrough of the school in February to prepare for a situation like this.

- Outside observers say Uvalde police ignored every lesson learned since Columbine.

- When the police did enter the classroom, they failed to neutralize the shooter first. As a result, another child died due to their incompetence because one of the cops hollered out, “Yell if you need help!” A girl called out “Help!” The shooter instantly shot her.

- It was an off-duty border patrol officer who went in & took down the shooter without any backup while the local police were outside handcuffing & tazing parents & claiming they were waiting for more & more & more backup. (This has been updated to say the individual mentioned removed children from the school, not taken down the shooter)

- Initially lied about the timeline, lied about what the shooter was wearing, lied about their response, lied about a “barricade,” lied about multiple details.

- Police is 40% of Uvalde’s budget.

- Initial reports by police that they pursued & pinned down the shooter in a classroom were false. In reality, the shooter had plenty of time & locked himself in a classroom.

*And the best part, because of the Supreme Court decision in Castle Rock v. Gonzales, a 2005 decision delivered by Scalia, no matter how incompetent, cowardly, or negligent officers are, they cannot be held accountable.*

Edit: all this info can be found at Washington Post, NPR, Huffington Post, the Associated Press, NBC, New York Times, & many more, as well as cell phone videos released by the parents at the scene.

They’re also threatening at least one mother with legal action if she keeps on talking

While she was 100% threatened, local judges came forward in support of her and said they would prevent any charges being pressed btw! however, she was not the only parent threatened into silence. police are trying to bully parents into covering their asses

Bro if I see even ONE person try and say the officers did the “best they could” I am going to fucking bite them.

When politicians and lawmakers have passed no laws to protect citizens from gun violence and then yet another mass shooting happens and they call it “incomprehensible”, I swear…

The vast majority of school shootings I have posted about over the last 22 years have had two things in common. The first is that they were all committed by selfish and entitled man-children. The second is that they all had easy access to guns. Whether the guns were purchased legally or not doesn’t matter. Even illegal guns were legally owned at some point. But now it turns out that 18-year-old…

Yesterday, I woke up in a pretty good amount of pain. Between being in my 50s, yesterday’s gloomy Kansas weather, and a minor recurring condition I have, that’s to be expected. But I felt off about something else that I just couldn’t put my finger on. I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was a sense of dread. I took one of my medications that made me sleepy. Furthermore, I only slept for a couple of…

Earlier this month, there was an active shooter situation at Lowellville Schools in Lowellville, Ohio. A 13-year-old middle school student brought a firearm into the school. It’s believed that in the school cafeteria, the student produced the gun and fired once at the floor before turning the gun on himself. The student was taken to the hospital and put on life…

The parents of Ethan Crumbley, James and Jennifer Crumbley, have asked for the involuntary manslaughter charges against them to be dropped. If you’ll recall, the Crumbleys’ charges stem from the belief they bought their son the gun used in the shooting that left four students dead at Oxford High School in Michigan. They believe the District Judge who held them for trial abused her authority when…
