Oil paintings by Giovanni Sanesi (Italy, 1992):

I love contemporary figurative art in general, but his paintings just have something more to them that resonates so much with how I feel. In his series inspired by the events of the russo-ukrainian war, he documents this dramatic event through youth’s dreamy eyes, as if it was almost a dream, something that could never truly happen.

<< When I think of the focus that I am dedicating to the theme of my painting (documenting the new world that has ben emerging from the last 10 years and especially the feeling of the new post-pandemic generations) I focused on the issues such as the new sensitivity to the planet. A new awareness on gender identity but above all a new awareness of our generation which is that of interconnection: I think this is the key word of the future. But I never thought that the new generations would clash with the old ones on the vision of the world. There is a generation that feels solidarity and part of the same world, and one that wants to define the world by drawing boundaries with prevarication to keep glories of the past… the result is that the world is not yet free from conflict of power, from factions, repression, fake news… I never thought that the word war (in all its forms) could knock on the door and become part of the heredity of ukrainian and european children. I never thought I’d wonder what senseless pain means. This is not the time to be silent out of protest or indifference, it is time to show what it means to testify that we are above all this! And it is great to see that the world is responding. each with his hands is responsible for a slice of peace. >>

It was during the 90s that for the first time I heard the term Generation X a class of people made of rumbling young-adults who listened to Nirvana, made California Rolls popular, made TV-show Friends a hit, first to use internet as a daily thing of their life, but most importantly they were the last generation to land stable and secure jobs in the West.

Generation XYZ because after the X which stood for incognito, the rest of the letters would follow anyhow but with less of a certainty onto what would define them. Television with its pay-per-view and the radical skater scene the West cost provided became a huge social influence worldwide. After the hefty 80s experience of Reaganomics with all its perks and consequence, the 90s would upset everything that came before it because that’s what they wanted to do in the first place. From the get-go, Generation X meant to be the rebellious slice of a transitioning era which wanted to forget the post- Vietnam period and the fear of the Cold War.

After the X comes the Y and this is not a set of chromosomes defining a future newborn, but rather the inevitable outcome of a generation which had to fill even bigger shoes. The Y generation is a 80s-born niche of those who are in their thirties that have been awfully identified as Millennials for practical journalistic reasons. Here we have that discrepancy which comes to separate two generational ridges: the X managed to capitalized on the Baby Boomer Legacy, while the Y couldn’t because by the time they graduated the world already changed drastically.

That Generation Y is today squeezed by the success of its previous batch and the Millennials wondering into the unknown. The remarkable event that separates the Y from the rest it the technological transformation that happened when communication went from hand-written letters to fax machines to emails. In between you can throw telex and experimental video call attempts.

Wikipedia won’t display Generation Y as an official page yet; its alphabet skips to the Z identifying the post- Millennial crowd of those born in the 21 century as the current poster child of the lettering sequence. They will be those who had already a Facebook page before they came to light, those who will have a 50/50 chance of taking their driving license because by the time they reach their late teen years cars will be fully autonomous.

My remark in this post is about the experience my own Y generation came to witness and exists in a world that changed fast and without the opportunities of the past. If the Baby Boomers became wealthy in a post World War 2 reality, surely their Gen X kids managed to grasp that last breath of chances the late 20th century had to offer.

Those born in the 80s have grown educationally and professionally across the September 11 2001 momentum, trying to overcome that depression until the 2008 financial crisis gave them the ultimate kick in the teeth. They are the ones who were told that a degree was necessary while in school, but got told they where overqualified during their job interviews. They where the ones who had to reinvent their professional status with new solutions because the economy had no clue how to deliver the many promises the markets made them.

“The age of the Iron Bowl has long gone…”- this is the new philosophy for the 21st century. The Iron Bowl is the analogy for the safe bowl of rice Chinese people know to receive for their meal time each day, meaning that nothing is certain anymore today and nothing is safe: from your work place to our salary there are no solid pillars, and everything changed to the point ‘where piece of mind’ has become a bargaining chip into your stability and future.

gen z culture in 2020 is having a 1 am panic attack, drinking coffee for breakfast, logging onto your lil zoomie class at 7 am, and cracking jokes with your therapist, only to take the BEST mf nap, all by 4 pm

Bring back the mannequin challenge but this time convince ur teachers ur whole class is frozen!

Apparently the underclassmen have been unwinding from the stress of 2020 existence with a bit of light humor. I overheard a couple of them in the health screening line setting up a betting pool on which student will get COVID first, since “statistically speaking, at least one person here is going to get it.”

1995 - 2008: Generation Sagittarius (Gen Z)

Pluto was mostly in Sagittarius

After a generation who lived every moment intensely, here comes a generation who’s just here to have a good time and experience life to the fullest. Those born with Pluto in Sagittarius have a need for exploration. They feel that by gaining as many different experiences as possible, they have the power to recognize and use any opportunities that arise to their benefit. They have the self-confidence to challenge existing moral codes. They use their beliefs as an extension of themselves. They are interested in other cultures rather than the one that they were born into. Together they will create a whole new culture and spiritual beliefs. They are here to exceed the limits and not thinking about the consequences. When Pluto’s work happens in bright and open Sagittarius, these shifts no longer occur in the shadows. The blaze of Sagittarius’ veracity displays every action of transformative Pluto to our conscious minds. Here, we are able to see the truths in our situation – why things are falling apart where they are, but where they are falling together, too. Natal Pluto in Sagittarius has a leg up on many other Pluto placements. With this deep planet in such an expansive and aware sign, access to your subconscious is uncommonly available to you. Your natural openness toward what you find in your shadowy realms makes you a highly integrated and awake individual. Sagittarius Pluto is adventurous, interested in philosophy and world affairs and very free-thinking. They cannot tolerate boredom. The risk just adds more fun to an adventure. Bold and non-conformist, Pluto in Sagittarius is in search of all things new. The future is one area they tend to fixate upon. They are optimistic and try to find answers instead of problems. They try to focus on the positive rather than the negative. They may leap before looking, or rush headlong into an adventure without proper preparation. They will have a very good sense of humor and just the one problem with this is that they just can’t take anything seriously. Take care to stay connected to the experiences of others, however. With such natural clarity, it is easy for you to slip into feelings of superiority or frustration with others for not being on what you feel is “your level.” Remember, we are all on our own journey and we all have our own lessons to learn and to teach. Stay compassionate, stay kind, and stay humble. Everything in your life will benefit.

A letter to the youth of this country

To the youth that feel like their voices aren’t being heard,

Please don’t give up. I know that it is frustrating to be screaming at the top of your lungs and to be treated as though your words are still not loud enough to matter. I know that you are scared, that you are dying, and it still doesn’t seem to be enough to create change. I know that it is disheartening, it is life changing, it is the type of thing that hardens hearts and will shape a generation.

Please don’t let it shape you into a generation that thinks they can’t change things. Please don’t let it shape you into a generation that thinks they do not matter or that no matter what you say, how well you say it or the size of the stage in which you give your speech it will not be enough to change hearts, minds or laws. It is enough, and our time as the youth of this country will come. I beg of you to stay strong, to keep talking and organizing. I beg of you to persevere and let that be the trademark of your generation.

You are enough and you are changing minds and hearts, soon it will be enough to change laws and policies. Keep going. We believe you can do this and we support you.

All my love,

A millenial who couldn’t be prouder of this country’s teenagers in light of recent events.

As feminists, generation by generation, wave by wave, wage their propaganda campaign to keep women in constant states of fear and rage at men it should surprise no one that each subsequent generation feels more and more alone.

New research shows just that:

“Generation Zers (adults ages 18-22) surveyed are significantly more likely than any other generation to say they experience the feelings described in the statements associated with loneliness (e.g., feeling alone, isolated, left out, that there is no one they can talk to, etc.).”

Considering how the young women of Generation Z have been put into a state of terror over potentially being raped in a fake college rape crisis, and the young men of Generation Z have been put into a state of terror over potentially being falsely accused of rape in a fake college rape crisis, is it any wonder they are the most lonely generation of Americans?

Are you feeling lonely? Blame feminism.

Die Generation Z bewegt sich…

one day in the distant future no one will know what bedspread crisperbitch’s name really is because of how many times we have mispronounced it and there will be historical artifacts on fifty year old iPhones yet no one can find one consistent name except that most of the variations end with cucumber patch.

And we will know. But we withhold the information. We are gods and goddesses and everything in between.

The drip is temporary, the question is forever.

A lot of people try to distance themselves from Generation Z. This is because this generation has been associated with negative things such as tide pods, TikTok, the Paul brothers, and Fortnite. Generation Z has become synonymous with childishness and immaturity. This is why many people do not want to be apart of this generation.

People born in 1995 and 1996 desperately cling to the Pew Research Center’s age range for Gen Z (1997-2012) because it excludes them from being associated with a generation that they believe to be reserved for children and teenagers. You guys are in your mid 20s, so I can understand why you want to distinguish yourselves from teenagers. You want to be taken seriously. You want your older peers to stop discriminating against you based on your age. However, it’s important to remember that most of you have your Pluto in Sagittarius, therefore, you are the eldest members of Gen Z. The reason why you can’t relate to this generation is because you are in a different stage of your life than the bulk of Gen Z. Regardless, you still share the same traumas, mindset, and beliefs as this generation.

People born from 1995-1999 passionately identify themselves as ‘90s babies’ because they are attempting to distance themselves from people born in the 2000s. You guys have little to no memory of the 90s, and your childhood was spent in the 2000s. Your childhood is almost identical to people born from 2000-2003, so there’s no need to make such a distinction. However, you guys have been out of high school for years now, while younger Gen Zs are still in school. You’re trying to establish your life as an adult and you’re trying to get oldet adults to take you seriously. I can understand why you don’t want to be apart of Gen Z because this generation is associated with teens and kids. However, you have your Pluto in Sagittarius, so you are the oldest members of Generation Z. The reason why you can’t relate to this generation is because you are in a different stage of your life than the bulk of Gen Z. Regardless, you still share the same traumas, mindset, and beliefs as this generation.

People born from 2000-2003, identify themselves as early 2000s kids in an attempt to separate themselves from the rest of Gen Z. You guys are 20-17, and being slapped in the face with you rapidly approaching adultness. Graduating high school, attending university, moving out, and entering mature relationships. For the first time in your life, you can go to prison. You can have a record. You have to pay taxes. You can’t act like a child anymore. I can understand why you want to distance yourself from people born in 2004-2008. They don’t have the same responsibilities or expectations of you. Their parents can still shield them; yours can’t. However, since you have your Pluto in Sagittarius, you are in the same generation as your younger peers. The reason why you can’t relate to this generation is because you are in a different stage of your life than the bulk of Gen Z. Regardless, you still share the same traumas, mindset, and beliefs as this generation.

Generation Z is defined by sharing the traumas of a Sagittarius. Darkness surrounds you. You deal with mental health disabilities, oppression, and inequality. But rather than be ashamed by these things, you embrace it as part of your identity. People can’t hurt you if you actively acknowledge and accept your weaknesses, something Millennials struggle to do. This is why you can easily talk about your disabilities, depression, anxiety, and fears. You turn these topics into jokes and memes because you are not ashamed to show that you are broken. That’s the trademark bluntness and honesty of Sagittarius.
