and. despite the fact that MK pretty much very quickly figured out Macaque. it takes him forever to figure out Wukong.
In fact, he only puts two and two together when Macaque forcibly kicks Wukong out of the shop while muttering “stupid monkey”
at which point MK has every single interaction he’s had rush through his mind (rambling about Monkey King whilst horribly pretending that he absolutely wasn’t the Monkey King’s successor, for one), and is just like “wait. wait.”

Macaque allows MK to confront Wukong about this in his store- Wukong looks at him with an expression of Utter Betrayal and Macaque literally has to hold on to the edges of the counter to keep himself from falling to the floor as he laughs

Macaque, seriously considering closing the store early just because of this: i cant fucking believe this
macaque and wukong reconciliation but instead of starting over they continue where they left off. they dont forget but they do forgive, eventually, and work through their problems together. they work to regain each others trust, with a vow to never break it ever again. its a long, strenuous journey with a lot of fights and hurting but eventually they come to trust eachother again. and this time, they’re determined to never break it
